''The Princess Bride'' is a multi-media franchise based on Creator/WilliamGoldman's [[Literature/ThePrincessBride novel of the same name]].
The story follows Westley and Buttercup, true loves, who are separated after Westley is apparently killed by a pirate at sea. On the eve of her wedding to Prince Humperdinck, Buttercup is kidnapped by a group of mercenaries. However, they are followed by a mysterious pirate dressed in black and Buttercup finds herself reunited with her lost love.
