* TakingTheBullet: The villain fires at Old Shatterhand who stands up to warn soldiers who are coming to help them fight the bandits -- they don't know they'll get attacked immediately, but Winnetou leaps on the bullet. It's too close to his heart and an Army doctor can't remove it.

''Winnetou III'' (''The Desperado Trail'') is a part of movie series based on Creator/KarlMay's novels. This part is also known as "[[ItWasHisSled the one in which Winnetou dies]]". A band of crooks tries to foment an Indian war but is foiled by Winnetou and Old Shatterhand, only this time Winnetou tragically is shot dead. Rik Battaglia, the actor who played the villain, got harassed in real life afterwards. Needless to say, it's a massive TearJerker.
