Everyone in the film is sane, more or less, and the only reason Alais doesn't join in the plotting because she has no leverage or power. The moment she gets any power is the moment she uses it as brutally as anyone in the film. I don't think she has time to go from "sane" to "corrupt" in twenty-four hours.

I just don't see it; dead isn't aloof, and nobody in the film holds Young Henry up as a paragon to envy. He died in rebellion against Henry.
