* FranchiseZombie: ''The Amazing Spider-Man 2'' is a sequel to a reboot that [[AshCanCopy was made so that Sony could hold on to Spidey's film rights]] and wasn't initially intended to be made; at this point, we're continuing way past what Sony and Raimi originally planned in the early 2000s. Several reviews of the movie even use the very term "franchise fatigue". ** And yet the series is not only on the books for another sequel (with a far-flung release of 2018) but one ''after'' that as well (currently TBA[[note]]originally ''[=ASM3=]'' was set for a 2016 release and ''4'' had the 2018 release but Sony delayed ''3'' and gave it the date set aside for ''4'', so ''4'' doesn't have a release date right now[[/note]]). If it manages to get that far while retaining an audience, it will outpace even the series that it rebooted. And that isn't all: there are ''{{spinoff}}s'' planned too (one for the VillainTeamUp ''Sinister Six'' and some other ideas, including a potential female-focused film and a possible Venom spinoff, have been tossed into the mix by Sony).

How To Create A Works Page "Things not to include: quality judgements (don't say how much it sucked/how awesome it was), critical reception (that's just a specific variant of quality judgements), recommendations (don't tell us whether or not we should check it out)"
The movie was originally envisioned as a launchpad for a SharedUniverse of ''Spider-Man'' characters that would directly compete with the Franchise/MarvelCinematicUniverse. However, due to the film receiving a [[LoveItOrHateIt more polarized]] reception compared to its predecessor, it not meeting Sony's lofty financial expectations[[note]]While the movie made $700,000,000 in ticket sales, the ad campaign for the movie was expensive enough that the actual profit margin for Sony was under $100,000,000; they were expecting the movie to make $1,000,000,000 in ticket sales.[[/note]], along with the fallout of the UsefulNotes/{{North Korea}}n [[InternetCounterattack cyber-attacks]] for ''Film/TheInterview'' and their monetary effect on Sony (which was already in financial trouble), the plan was discarded. Instead, the company made a deal with Marvel Studios to integrate the character into the MCU via another ContinuityReboot in 2017 (and an appearance in 2016's ''Film/CaptainAmericaCivilWar''), [[AbortedArc abandoning all other planned movies]]. As such, this is most likely the last film in the "Amazing" Series.

* BadLiar: Peter claims his face got dirty from cleaning the chimney (which they don't have) and that he made all the clothes in the washing machine come out red because he was washing the flag. Aunt May doesn't seem to believe any of it but she doesn't question further.

** Harry told Max that Spider-Man would try to stop him at the power grid and to make him bleed, so Harry knows that if he would find Spider-Man anywhere, that would be the place to start. The fact that Electro had been defeated only moments prior is coincidental.

The lyrics of the song that plays during this scene that follow the shot of the picture are "Baby, I'm not moving on/I'll love you long after you're gone".]]

** Spider-Man's initial confrontation with Electro is different from what the trailers portray. In the trailer, Max seems to be attacking people and flips out simply [[DisproportionateRetribution because Spidey doesn't remember his name on spot]]. In the films, he is confused but less unstable and only flips out after the police tries sniping him, just when Spidey was calming him down.
