** The film's ending appears in ''24 Hour Party People''. Legend has it that Ian Curtis of JoyDivision hanged himself after watching the film on TV. [[AuthorExistenceFailure Obviously we cannot find out whether this is true]].

* AlternateCharacterInterpretation: Is Eva a terrible person for running up the bills and simply leaving? Or is living in the middle of nowhere with two obviously crazy men just unbearable?

* {{Complete Monster}}s: The first thing we see Eva's pimps do is fleece a man out of $10,000 and beat her. They don't get any nicer.
* CrowningMomentOfHeartwarming: Several. Particularly when a doctor comforts a crying premature baby he was using as an example of the things he couldn't control.

* TheWoobie: Bruno and Eva both.
