* MacGuffin: The ticket. [[spoiler:It's a voucher for $50,000, which both Nima and Monday need desparately.]]
* MagicCountdown: It's a bit difficult to believe that Wilee could chase down Manny, get into a cross-town race to the wrong address, end up at the hospital for however long it takes to get his arm bandaged from the crash, get driven to the police impound, get into ''another'' chase there and then ride all the way to the ''right'' address within 40 minutes.

* ProductDeliveryOrdeal: A New York City bike messenger picks up an envelope for delivery that is so valuable a corrupt detective pursues him throughout Manhattan to try and get the envelope before it's delivered. And as if having to contend with bent cops wasn't enough, nobody in New York obeys any traffic laws.

* WrongfulAccusationInsurance: Wilee is repeatedly chased by police for moving violations, steals from a police impound, and later steals that bike cop's bike, but there's no indication he is ever prosecuted for his actions. Somewhat justified; the only cop who ever learns Wilee's nickname is Bobby, and he never even shares that. Everyone else only knows him as the bike messenger with a red shirt and a beat-up bike. They'd have a hard time even finding him, much less prosecuting him.

Somewhat justified; justified. Wilee commits a number of crimes over the only course of the film, but they're generally minor enough that an initial escape means the cops are unlikely to track him down. His main pursuer is a dirty cop who ever learns who's operating entirely off the books and keeps Wilee's nickname is Bobby, identity from his colleagues [[spoiler: and he never even shares that. Everyone else only knows him as who ends up dead.]] We don't find out what happens after the bike messenger with a red shirt and a beat-up bike. They'd have a hard time even finding him, much less prosecuting him.film ends, but it's entirely realistic that Wilee gets away scot-free.

Badass is no longer a trope.

* SmugSnake: A smirking, self-satisfied BigBadWannabe, Officer Monday equates being a dirty cop with being an unbeatable {{Badass}}, even in situations where he is clearly at a disadvantage (like being surrounded by Chinese gangsters intent on killing him).
