Most amazingly, she still seems to be going strong and is in a physical condition adequate for [[spoiler:leaving New York City to find her daughter and grandson, who are both alive]].
** Justified in that whomever she's telling her life story to had presumably sought her out ''because'' she was so old, and could recall times nobody else remembers.

* GaiasLament: Things for Earth only get worse over the years, despite efforts to reverse it. By the end, many species, including such seabirds as albatrosses, are gone, climate change, pollution, floods, and the Caspian Fever pandemic have ravaged humanity, and worst of all, knowledge has been lost, meaning that it will take centuries, if not''thousands of years'', for humans to repair the damage they’ve caused.

The world's descent into the CrapsackWorld that Lucy lives in at the age of 91 gets so ''progressively'' bad that the line betweeen [[JustBeforeTheEnd "Just Before"]] and [[TheEndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt the actual End]] is kind of blurry.
