Moving to trivia; Tykebomb is one word;
* BillingDisplacement: Most modern DVD releases put Stallone either in top billing, or sometimes even by himself on the cover. He plays a major character in the movie, but is not the main focus.

* TykeBomb: Frank tells Annie that he, and all previous Frankensteins, had been raised by the government to play the part of death-race champion.

Received a remake in 2008, which went for the DarkerAndEdgier option, and set itself up as a semi-prequel. The cinematic SpiritualSuccessor to Death Race 2000, however, was not the official remake, but Creator/TheAsylum's Mockbuster DeathRacers, which retained the dark comedy of Death Race 2000.

Really vague and not linked enough
* SpiritualSuccessor: Of the video game variety. Carmageddon bares a striking similarity to this movie. Film/DeathRacers also applies.

* RedBaron: Junior calls Frankenstein "The Indestructible" a couple of times. Considering how many crashes he has (allegedly) survived, he certainly has earned the moniker.
