* AndThenJohnWasAZombie: Toward the end of the movie, Gwen turns into a zombie following an unseen bite on the arm.
** Also Kyle in the funeral home after struggling with one of the bagged corpses.

* JerkassHasAPoint: Mr. Hammond has a point about Jimmy fooling around with his frog and Steven using his camera during class. Subverted when he quickly crosses the line by forcing Gwen to dissect her frog.

* PantyShot: When Gwen is doing some flips at cheerleading practice, which [[PeepingTom Steven films]].

* BetaCouple: Although their relationship is mostly limited to mild flirting, Tina and Stevenserve as this to Lindsay and Jimmy.

* {{Adorkable}}: Jimmy, and to some extent, Steven.

* SchoolPlay: In a deleted scene, Jimmy mentions that he played Romeo in the school play, trying to use this as a CommonalityConnection to get one of Jennifer's BFF's (who played Juliet) to go to the prom with him as a way of rebounding from being dumped by Lindsay. It doesn't work.

* ImColdSoCold: An infected [[spoiler: Gwen]]. says this.

* {{Jerkass}}: A few of the characters fit this role: Jules, Mitch, Kyle, Coach Keel and the science teacher are the main ones.

* CombatStilettos: Lindsay angrily stabs a zombie who made her rip her prom dress with one of her heels.
* ControlFreak: Lindsay is fairly likable, but does get irritated when someone spells the prom poster and tries to take charge of boarding up the windows to the pint where George argues with her over it.

''Dance of the Dead'' is an American zombie horror-comedy film released in 2008. It premiered exclusively at Mann's Chinese 6 Theaters in UsefulNotes/LosAngeles on October 13, before being released on DVD the next day. The film was directed by Gregg Bishop and written by Joe Ballarini. The film stars Jared Kusnitz, Greyson Chadwick, Chandler Darby, Carissa Capobianco and Mark Oliver.

* InnocentlyInsensitive: Steven and Gwen both get a moment of this at the others expense early on: Stephen takes pleasure in dissecting the frog even as Gwen is grossed out by it, while Gwen doesn't get that Stephen is asking her out and asks his opinion on whether or not she should ask Nash to go with her.

* LifeSavingMisfortune: Jimmy and Lindsay's break up kept them from going to the prom, where they likely would have been infected with almost everyone else. The same could be said about Nash and his bandmates fail gin their audition to play for the prom, Gwen's original date getting sick and Nash refusing to go with her, and Stephen's failure to get a date.

* MissingTrailerScene: The trailer opens with Jimmy asking Jennifer to prom and being rejected with an amused laugh, while in the final film Jimmy is dating Lindsay at the start and even after their temporary break up before prom was never seen trying to ask anyone else to be his date.

* AssholeVictim: Mitch and Mr. Hammond

* TheDogBitesBack: Or rather the dissected frog in biology class rises form the dead and attacks the biology teacher while he's alone in the classroom.

* ThisIsGonnaSuck: One of the teachers is seen taking a sip from a flask and muttering "prom" disgustedly at the beginning of the film. Even he probably didn't realize it would be ''that'' bad though.

** JerkassWithAHeartOfGold: Turns out, Coach Keel really was just trying to help Jimmy.
** JerkWithAHearyOfJerk: Mitch initially comes across as shallow and trying to steal Jimmy's girlfriend, but perhaps being right that he doesn't respect her enough. Then we find out that he doesn't respect her either and is just making empty noises that make it sound like he does while trying to sleep with her and [[AtemmptedRape not stopping when she doesn't want to]].

** JerkWithAHearOfJerk: Mitch initially comes across as shallow and trying to steal Jimmy's girlfriend, but perhaps being right the he doesn't respect her enough. Then we find out that he doesn't respect her either and is just making empty nosies that make it sound like he does, while trying to sleep with her and [[AtemmptedRape not stopping when she doesn't want to]].

* DamnedByFaintPraise: An accidental version. While they're surrounded by zombies, when Gwen finds out Steven had wanted to go to prom with her before learning she wanted to ask Nash, she tells him that she should have just asked. Steven says that she would have said no and Gwen replies (with apparent sincerity and a smile) that if it was a choice between being at prom with him and being chased by zombies, she would have chose him.

* YourMakeupIsRunning: Jennifer's makeup us a little smeared from crying when Jimmy and the others find the survivors in the bathroom.

* ZombieInfectee: [spoiler: Kyle]]. who is upfront about it and turns quickly, and later [[spoiler: Gwen]] who is scared of being killed and doesn't tell anyone, although she does try to move away from the main group.

* YouAreTooLate: The main cast heads out to the school to try and stop the zombies (who ewill be attracted to the noise) from turning everyone at prom, but find nearly everyone there is turned already.

* TheDeadCantDance: Downplayed, but the zombies do slow dance a little whenever they hear Nash, Jensen and Dave's music.

* GirlPosse: Jennifer the prom queen has a couple of girl sidekicks, although they don't seem to bully or look down on anyone and just campaign for her to be prom queen.

* KissOfDeath: Gwen turns into a zombie whilst making out with Steven in the toilet cubicle, killing him and also turning him into a zombie too.

* TheCheerleader: Gwen plays with this. She has the low intelligence part down, but is pretty nice (and was willing to talk to the geeky Steven and ask his advice even while not returning his crush) and fairly chaste (based on her reaction to Nash turning down her invitation to prom but saying he will let her give him oral sex if she wants).

* AllLoveIsUnrequited: Steven likes Gwen and tries asking her to go to prom with him. Gwen wants to go with Nash Ramble instead, as her first choice bailed on her due to sickness. Jensen, however, shoots her down. Steven still likes Gwen, but she only starts to like him back after she is bitten by the zombie headmaster.

* DarkIsNotEvil: Nash.

* RedemptionEqualsDeath: Kyle, following the outbreak, starts acting less of a jerk toward Jimmy, Jules, Steven and George, going as far as saving them when they are trapped in the funeral home.

* CarFu: An accidental version, when Lindsay runs over a couple zombies chasing the sci-fi club at the beginning. Later Gwen runs over several zombies when bringing the hearse around [[ApologieticAttacker and says she's sorry each time]].
