* FunctionalAddict: Burt spends a big chunk of the action strung out on various experimental painkillers, and all of the characters' present circumstances are because Burt was arrested for opium addiction. But he's still a competent doctor who works tirelessly for veterans, and is sober enough to solve this mystery.
