* Animorphism: Discussed. The crew note that vampires can turn into bats in some media. Abigail herself never displays this power, but Frank briefly wonders if she can turn herself into a rat.

* Bathos: Peter comes running to check on Sammy after she screams at the sight of headless corpse. The seriousness of the scene is undermined by what Dean drew on Peter's face.
-->"Why do you have a dick on your face?"

* BloodyHilarious: The fact that vampires explode into a mess of gore and blood is played for comedy a few times. Most notably with , given Frank and Joey's "Did that just happen" faces.

Added DiffLines:

* FaceDoodling: Dean draws a dick on Peter's face. Its only around for a few scenes before he washes it off, and .

Added DiffLines:

* PopCulturalOsmosisFailure:
** Eventually subverted with Peter. After Lambert gives out the Rat Pack-inspired nicknames, he is confused by Lambert calling them "my lovely little pack of rats". However much later in the movie, he finally gets the reference. (See BrickJoke)
** Played straight with Dean, who doesn't recognize the name Creator/DonRickles.

Added DiffLines:

* TenLittleMurderVictims: are killed before the others realize that Abigail's a vampire, leading to fear and suspicion. Once they do know, the movie follows a more traditional horror plot. Abigail herself seems to be aware of this, given her lie that Literature/AndThenThereWereNone opens the BookcasePassage.

* IdiotBall: Frank takes Abigail at her word about the BookcasePassage, even though he should know full well that Abigail lies. Sure enough, the passage doesn't really exist.

* AHouseDivided: Abigail spends some time trying to turn her "kidnappers" against each other. The most successful is when she convinces Joey that Frank is Valdez, eventually leading to Joey holding Peter at gunpoint to protect Abigail and Frank pointing his gun at Joey to get her to back off. At this point, she seems to decide this has run its course and breaks free.

* JerkassHasAPoint: Frank may be an asshole, but when Joey is talking about her reasons for leaving her son and how she is saving up money before she goes back to him, Frank is completely right that she needs to stop making excuses and just show up and be a parent.

to:

* JerkassHasAPoint: Frank may be an asshole, but he has times when he's completely right.
** When Abigail tells Joey that Frank is Valdez, Joey immediately confronts Frank at gunpoint and demands answers. Frank calls her an idiot for not realizing that Abigail is lying and trying to turn them against each other, which is indeed exactly right.

* LockedRoomMystery: One of the more infamous accomplishments of Valdez. He once got into a hotel and massacred three informants plus an entire FBI team, despite the only ways in being the guarded front door (which wasn't used) or a twenty-three story window. Once its revealed that Abigail is Valdez, the implication is that she simply flew up the window.
