Finneon live mostly in the deepest areas of the oceans, mostly those around the Sinnoh region, but they are known to also inhabit bodies of freshwater. Their most famous location is the port town of Canalve City, where tourists are known to gather in the evening to observe the soft blue glow of the Finneon and Lumineon beneath the surface. This species tends to live in areas also populated by their relatives Chinchou and Lanturn. Naturally, there is competition between the two species, but Finneon tend to avoid Chinchou due to the latter's harmful Electric capabilities.

!! Morphs [Oak Catalog #]
* Finneon [#456]
* Lumineon [#457]
!! Physical Description
The Wing Fish Pokemon is relatively small: An average Finneon weighs 7 kilograms and is only .4 meters long. Finneon have a football-shaped main body, the
Finneon's evolution, Lumineon, is larger than its previous form. Its main body has grown "flatter"; it is now taller than it is wide. Most of the creature's body is the same dark blue of Finneon's upper half, excluding the front tip of its face surrounding its mouth, a line running vertically around the fish just behind the eyes, its newly formed pelvic fins, its more prominent eyelids, and the fringes of its dorsal fins. Surprisingly, the famous caudal fins of its former morph have been replaced with a large yet short tail decorated with a single magenta oval. Lumineon's "Beautifly wings" have instead developed from its dorsal and pectoral fins.
!! Notable Biology
This species' most famous attribute is its surprisingly bug-like fins, earning it the nickname "Beautifly of the Sea" and giving it the ability to employ Bug-type moves for battle. The magenta spots on the Finneon's caudal fins and the light blue fringes of Lumineon's dorsal and pectoral fins are both covered in bioluminescent bacteria that allow the creatures to navigate its dark ocean environment, as well as attract prey.
Lumineon have pelvic fins similar to those of its cousin, Chinchou, which allow the Neon Pokemon to "walk" along the seafloor.
!! Habitat
!! Diet
Finneon and Lumineon prefer smaller fish as a food source, which they attract with their bioluminescence and devour with their small mouths.
!! Hazards
Though usually a peaceful species, one should not initiate combat with the Wing Fish or Neon Pokemon unprepared. Though Pokemon with Grass typings are usually quite useful against Water-typed creatures, trainers should be aware that the Finneon line is capable of using powerful Bug-type moves, which can be very harmful to Grass Pokemon.
!! Courting and Childrearing
Female Lumineon are known to have larger wings than those of their male counterparts. The larger and brighter a female's wings are, the more attractive she is to a potential mate. Due to their more peaceful nature, disputes over mates is uncommon, though those that occur are usually solved via the males flapping their "wings" at one another threateningly until one moves along. When a male and a female find one another acceptable mates, they circle one another, wings glowing at full burn. Mating season for the Finneon line falls in the middle of summer, making this
Fertilization occurs externally; the female will release her eggs out into the space between her and her "dance partner"; the male responds in kind with his sperm. It is here, where the two mates performed their dance, that the Lumineon build their nest. The father will be left to guard the developing offspring while the mother goes off to hunt. Once the Finneon hatch, they will remain under their father's care (receiving food from their mother) for roughly three months before they are capable of hunting on their own.
!! Social Structure
This species lives in large schools, usually led by a female Lumineon and her mate. The colony and its future generations will remain in the same location, where the younger members are watched over by the male Lumineon. Cooperative pack hunting is very rare, but has been known to happen during times in which food is more scarce.
