** The fact that all night elves encountered in ''Warcraft III'' campaigns before the awakening of the druids are female has led the fans to assume that ''all'' night elven males were druids (save for a few who were demon hunters), and that ''all'' druids slept in the Emerald Dream for the entire duration of the Long Vigil (which was about seven thousand years).
** Perhaps the prime example of Fanon was the belief that the Forsaken were outright unable to use the Holy Light. Fans vehemently believed this was part of the games lore and was said to come from the RPG books when in truth the citation didn't even exist in the RPG. How much they deal with it is another matter (the starting zones hinted at a darker religion that was spelled out in the non-canon RPG), but the point is that they can.

* ''VideoGame/{{Deltarune}}'':
** If any of the original ''VideoGame/{{Undertale}}'' cast ever entered the Dark World, it's generally assumed that they would gain costumes akin to what they wore in the original game, such as Toriel and Asgore sporting their royal garbs.
** Rouxls Kaard is often depicted as [[SlimeGirl being made of inky goo]]. This likely stems from him looking very human; fans have used the bit of "skin" connecting his lips, which can be interpreted as a strand of slime, as a reason to see him as a more nonhuman creature.
** Seam frequently gets portrayed as having an Irish accent, thanks to their name being a play on the Irish name "Seán."
** It's a common concept for Seam to initially have had two button eyes, their missing one being caused by an attack from Jevil after he went insane.
** The idea that Jevil has devil horns under his jester hat is generally accepted. Less often, he's depicted as having hair too.
** As Spamton was friends with the Addisons and shares parts of their design, fans try to depict what his form as an Addison must have looked like before he began poorly copying Swatch. He's generally depicted as a short Addison with white skin and hair, and lacking his rosy cheeks and glasses. ** Some fans also like to imagine the Addisons and Spamton as siblings, adding an extra layer of sadness to them essentially abandoning him during his backstory.
** Thanks to Spamton's ventriloquist dummy-inspired design, fan artists frequently depict him as being around as small as an actual dummy, despite being close to Kris' height in-game.
** Fanart involving the Player sometimes depicts them as using the grey discarded Vessel from the start of the game. The SOUL also carries an association with red "strings" connecting to Kris and other characters, thanks to all the puppet motifs that Spamton NEO's fight provides.
** While official art and merchandise depicts Kris' Dark World cape as a solid reddish-pink, a good chunk of fan artists depict it as having pink and purple stripes, based on the purple shading it has on Kris' in-game sprites (and to tie it in with their striped shirt in the Light World). It helps that Toby Fox [[https://twitter.com/tobyfox/status/802147835244400640 has made the canonicity]] of the merch for his games rather dubious. Similarly, Kris's Light World appearance is often portrayed in fanart with a black hoodie or dress shirt underneath their sweater, sneakers, black nail polish and/or black fingerless gloves, due to the simplicity of their design giving artists opportunities for interpretation.
** While depicted as a case of PaintingTheMedium for his ElectronicSpeechImpediment in-game and never fully clarified beyond that, fans like to portray the bracketed segments of Spamton's dialogue as being spliced in from various advertisements and programs (often ones that audibly differ from his "regular" voice), tying in with his glitchy, spambot-inspired nature and personality as a salesman.
** Likewise, the implications of Queen's speech pattern of Capitalizing Every Word And Using Barely Any Punctuation haven't been fully clarified, and as such fans interpret it in multiple ways. One way is to portray her with a RoboSpeak MachineMonotone, which also fits with how her dialogue is translated as FauxComputerCode in the Japanese translation. Another way runs on RuleOfFunny and literally interprets her capitalization patterns to Over-Enunciate Every Word As Its Own Sentence, another form of RoboSpeak that makes her sound vaguely like a cartoonish Creator/WilliamShatner impersonation.
** While Swatch and the Swatchlings appear identically-sized in their overworld sprites (which can be directly compared in Castle Town's café), fans frequently portray Swatch as shorter than the Swatchlings to further the comparisons to Spamton, who's noticeably shorter than the Addisons.
** Fans believe that the reason why Spamton is so short compared to the Addisons is that he was dunked in Queen's acid pool, coming from Spamton's shop dialogue and Queen's claim that the acid pool can shrink people. He's sometimes portrayed as the same size as the Addisons before his StartOfDarkness.
** It's common to portray the King of Diamonds as the father of the Rudinns, the King of Hearts as the father of the Hathys, and the King of Clubs as Clover's father.
** Some fans came up with the idea that Spamton's birthday is May 3rd, since that was when the first spam email was created.

** When not due to a FoeYay CrackPairing, Ridley is often portrayed as having a twisted, {{Yandere}} love/obsession for Samus, similar to Creator/HeathLedger's Joker in ''Film/TheDarkKnight''.

Due to its location, many fans tend to assume that the effects of TheVirus on lovable sidekick Pey'j were the direct result of heroine/local MacGuffinTurnedHuman Jade bringing him BackFromTheDead. Due to the game's ending PhotoMontage, fans also tend to assume that TheBigGuy, Double H, moves in with Jade (and also tends to give him a BodyguardCrush on her).

** It's honestly hard to sift between all the canon and fanon in the ''FNAF'' franchise, due to so much lore and theories about what happened, but there's one thing most people can agree on: in the fake ending to ''[[VideoGame/FiveNightsAtFreddysSisterLocation Sister Location]]'', [[spoiler:the reason Ennard shows up at Eggs's house is because Eggs decided to rescue [[IAmLegion them]] and adopt them]]. It certainly helps that Eggs is hinted to be [[spoiler:Michael Afton, brother of Elizabeth Afton, who ends up possessing Baby, one of the components of Ennard]].
*** Also, in cases where the above is true, [[spoiler:Ennard]] becomes a fan of ''[[SoapWithinAShow The Immortal and the Restless]]'' like Eggs.
** There are more than a few bits of Fanon attached to the Purple Guy.

** Many fan works depict Roadhog as a CloudcuckoolandersMinder for Junkrat, treating his employer like a hyperactive kid in need of babysitting. This is even acknowledged in-game where before a match Roadhog often tells Junkrat to, "not make a mess this time" and Junkrat assures him that he'll be on his best behavior.
** Roadhog himself is officially stated to be from Australia, but many fans believe it makes more sense to view him as a New Zealander, likely of Māori descent. His real first name, "Mako," is Māori for "shark," and his "Toa" and "Islander" skins that bring to mind traditional Pacific Islanders. He also has a DummiedOut voice line of "If I wanted to go to the wop-wops, I could have stayed at home," "wop-wops" being decidedly Kiwi slang for the boondocks, the middle of nowhere, etc.

She's extremely patriotic, her alias sounds similar to the Pharaonism movement which valued and emphasized pre-Islamic Egyptian culture -- an important aspect of Coptic identity. There also many who believe Pharah's father was Canadian First Nations -- specifically an indigenous man of the Pacific Northwest Coast, because of her "Thunderbird" and "Raindancer" skins. The "Reflections" comic confirms this by showing her dining with her father in Canada.
** Fans have decided that Pharah's father ''must'' have been an Overwatch member and, furthermore, had to be one of her four fellow founding members. The two candidates most picked are Jack, for his status as TheHero, the fact that he'll compliment Pharah in-game despite being cold to almost everyone else and for having a close relationship with Ana as shown in their comic ''Old Soldiers'', and Reinhardt -- as he and Ana have a dialogue prompt which is very flirty and thus adds fuel to the shipping fire. Further, he also seemed to have [[DaddysGirl Pharah's attention more than any other person on the team]]. These theories have quieted down somewhat after the appearance of [[https://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/overwatch/images/8/8c/Spray_Ana_Newborn.png Ana's new spray]] in the ''Uprising'' event, which depicts a previously unknown man who appears to be Pharah's father.

Despite having no real physical TertiarySexualCharacteristics, fans like to compare its [[CuteMachines curious, wide-eyed mannerisms]] and [[FriendToAllLivingThings friendliness towards nature]] (complete with little bird companion) to a typical Franchise/DisneyPrincess that also just so happens to be a robot that turns into a gatling gun turret [[DarkerAndEdgier with nasty PTSD]]. This may also be due to the fact that those speaking languages with feminine/masculine nouns such as Sombra in Spanish or Ana in Arabic refer to it with feminine nouns (though admittedly, this is mostly attributed to those languages not having gender-neutral nouns and and "bastion" being considered a "feminine" noun for both of them).
** Mei's snowsuit conceals her actual body shape, so fan art often portrays her as buxom and curvy, ranging from just [[ImpossibleHourglassFigure hourglass-shaped]] to outright BigBeautifulWoman. ''Rise and Shine'' finally put it to rest by showing that she is thick, but not out of shape.
** Fandom really likes the idea that Pharah is a biker when she's not flying, presumably as a reference to ''Film/TopGun''. ** The only fact about the Shimada brothers' dragon-like powers is that only a Shimada can control the dragons, leaving it up to the imagination on any finer detail. The most prevalent theory is that the dragons are a kind of supernatural BondCreature, each one individually choosing and merging with a Shimada. Sometimes they're shown to manifest outside of combat, and sometimes they're shown to be able to influence Genji or Hanzo's emotions or instincts.

** The fandom has a lot of "information" which does not appear to have been released in any official source. ''[[VideoGame/MetroidOtherM Other M]]'', in particular, is a ''very'' divisive game because of its assertions about the nature of the protagonist. Let's just say BrokenBase (along with AlternativeCharacterInterpretation, and--[[ValuesDissonance depending on who you ask]]--UnfortunateImplications) is in effect, ''[[Administrivia/RuleOfCautiousEditingJudgment and let's leave it at that]]''.

** Among the ''Mortal Kombat'' fandom, while ''[[VideoGame/MortalKombatShaolinMonks Shaolin Monks]]'' is regarded as a very good spin-off, [[BroadStrokes the sheer amount of liberties taken in regards to the plot]] (and ''several'' [[{{Retcon}} contradictions]] to previous continuity, which did ''[[BrokenBase not]]'' go over well with the fans) made it hard for many to believe that the game (assumed to be a retelling of the [[VideoGame/MortalKombat1 first]] and [[VideoGame/MortalKombat2 second]] installments) is canon. ** By now, most believe that [[spoiler:Gaster]] is Sans and Papyrus' father, grandfather or adoptive father. It's also believed that Sans mostly raised Papyrus by himself.
** It's not in the game itself, but a fair amount of fan portrayals of [[spoiler:Sans]]'s boss fight depict him wearing his brother's scarf as a way of remembrance. [[spoiler:Sans's depression]] also tends to be exaggerated in fanfic.
** Sans never actually snaps his fingers at any point in the game, but you wouldn't know it going by fan works. It's basically a MemeticHandGesture for him at this point [[spoiler:and is usually used to depict him activating the Blue SOUL power during the Genocide Run boss battle]].
