Fascinating worldbuilding for how {{Magitek}} could work in ''The Dresden Files'' universe and a reasonable explanation of how the Goa'uld fit into the DF world: [[spoiler:the vampire courts exists to combat them]]. Snarky "gods", scary Mab, and a generally fun adventure.
** In spite of the big change that happens early, the story still distills pure Dresden-ness, while adding the special flavor of the Stargate series. Worth the time reading.
** Mechanically the stories following Harry and the one following the SGC reflect their source material. Harry's story is told from his continuous, unbroken point of view. Meanwhile, the SGC story swaps between different characters with each chapter, much like an episode of SG-1.
*** Another item of note is his characterization of the Goa'uld. Rather than the one-dimensional evil usually seen, here they are depicted as flawed but highly intelligent rulers. They are unashamedly evil by human standards but have a code of conduct and culture that clearly fits their legends from Earth. The fic also justifies their ornate ship, armor, and weapon designs: The intricate designs are warding sigils to keep out faerie assassins, with the iron weapons and armor of their Jaffa being specifically meant to combat them.

Masquerading as said Goa'uld, now Harry has to deal with the politics of the alien serpents while trying to find a way to get back home to his normal life - which is far easier said than done.
