* ''Comments'': It's a good fic - characterisation is generally spot on, it puts unique spins on familiar characters, the plot is complex with frequent, but not over-frequent twists, and it is very, very funny. But.
** [[DoorStopper It's over 800,000 words long,]] with an additional 60,000 words in the two-shot spinoff ''Chaos Reigns''. A wordy style, a [[LoadsAndLoadsOfCharacters massive cast]] [[note]] There's the entire Harry Potter cast, the entire Avengers Cast, most of the X-Men, a few DC characters, Vertigo Characters, a few characters from ''Literature/TheDresdenFiles'' and ''Series/StargateSG1'', as well as a couple of OC's. Even Slenderman's thrown in, while [[Series/DoctorWho the Doctor]] gets a cameo. We really weren't kidding about the massive part. [[/note]] with a SwitchingPOV used to make sure everyone gets a DayInTheLimeLight, and [[GrowingTheBeard (until around chapter 40)]] a tendency to dwell on minor points of [[ContemplateOurNavels introspection]] all contribute to this. An authorial tendency to spend the beginning of every chapter arguing with/replying to anonymous reviewers to reply to as many reviewers as possible didn't help, forcing the reader to scan down just to get to the actual story.

* ''Comments'': It's Very, very good. While it's more of a good Family/Humour fic early on and occasionally slips into borderline crack territory, there's an abrupt tonal shift around chapter 9 - the humour remains, but it gets much more serious. The characterisation is generally spot on, it puts unique spins on familiar characters, the even fusing a few (e.g. Peter Wisdom is really [[spoiler: Regulus Black]]) and giving a few unexpected prominence (Lucius Malfoy, for instance). The plot is complex with frequent, but not over-frequent twists, frequent twists and liberal use of {{Foreshadowing}} and a well stocked ChekhovsArmoury, and most of all, thanks to the LemonyNarrator it is very, very funny. But.
It plays with BlackAndGreyMorality, with even the best of the good guys having their flaws and darker sides, Loki's past not simply being glossed over despite his redemption, and there's a ''massive'' dose of ParentsAsPeople.
** Furthermore, there's a particular emphasis on psychological trauma, on what these insane experiences would actually do to people and their cumulative effect. Harry and several others suffer from uncommonly well depicted cases of [[ShellShockedVeteran PTSD]] and in Harry's case, SurvivorGuilt, Clint's still got lingering issues over Loki making him one of his PeoplePuppets during his invasion, Tony's got more issues than Action Comics and is still visibly affected by his time in Afghanistan, Thor struggles with grief and suddenly having a lifetime of memories dumped on him before undergoing a steady SplitPersonalityMerge, while Sirius' recovery from Azkaban is shown to be a definite work in progress (though with Asgardian medical treatment, it mostly results in a lack of brain to mouth filter). Other characters are similarly affected, with [[Characters/XMenTheOriginalTeam Warren's]] character arc focusing on his justified anxieties over his RazorWings and his own problems following [[spoiler: his being forced to kill a HYDRA assault force]].
** Harry's CharacterDevelopment is particularly interesting, especially as the fic goes out of its way to play with and subvert the usual Super!Harry clichés, with the guiding principle that Harry is still Harry, and still a kid. New powers [[TheCallPutMeOnHold (which don't really start popping up until around chapter 45 anyway]] and, Harry being Harry, are simultaneously hard to control and dangerous to him and everyone around him) don't spontaneously change his personality, make him ThePornomancer, or turn him into a hypercompetent genius. He does change over time, opening up a bit emotionally (which has issues, as a lifetime's worth of mostly repressed anger makes itself known, along with abandonment issues), before slowly becoming more confident and assertive, before being forced by circumstance to become more ruthless and do things he would previously never have dreamed of, frequently teetering on the edge of a very believable StartOfDarkness from chapter 60 onwards. Equally, he's 13/14 and a late bloomer, so while an improved diet and exercise regimen means he undergoes a growth spurt and starts looking TallDarkAndHandsome, he mostly finds the idea of romance embarrassing and somewhat uncomfortable, and while he starts to learn faster, that only really extends to muscle memory and while he becomes a competent fighter, he usually has to IndyPloy his way out of trouble.
** However,

** In summary? It's very good, very readable and deservedly very popular, it's not a series for everyone. For instance, to some, the above points are part of the appeal. To others, it's slow, cluttered and convoluted.

*** In response to this, the second book is more streamlined, diving into the action in chapter 2, but even so, it's already 90,000 words long. ** A regular complaint is that by about a third of the way through every character is related/had past dealings with ten other characters, to the point of OneDegreeOfSeparation. This is [[LampshadeHanging lampshaded]] at several points, before TheReveal that it was a) artificial, b) a ''massive'' ChekhovsGun, alluded to in chapter 48 before being revealed in full in chapters 79-80: [[spoiler: Doctor Strange has been steadily arranging events to forge the superhero community into a united front to face Thanos.]]

* Crossover with the Franchise/MarvelCinematicUniverse
** Now verging on MegaCrossover territory, with elements taken from the Franchise/MarvelCinematicUniverse (the basis), multiple continuities of Creator/MarvelComics, Creator/DCComics, ''Literature/GoodOmens'', and ''Literature/TheDresdenFiles''. Somehow remains remarkably accessible, if only for the author's habit of providing explanations of characters on request.

the Franchise/MarvelCinematicUniverse (the basis), with elements of multiple continuities of Creator/MarvelComics, initially. Later Verges on MegaCrossover territory, with additional elements taken from Creator/DCComics, ''Literature/GoodOmens'', and ''Literature/TheDresdenFiles''. Somehow remains remarkably accessible, if only for because Harry's the AudienceSurrogate and thanks to the author's habit of providing explanations of characters on request.

* ''Comments'': It's a good fic - characterisation is generally spot on, the plot is complex with frequent, but not over-frequent twists, the heroes face consequences for their actions and it is very, very funny. But there are caveats.
** At over 800,000 words, it is an absolute DoorStopper. An additional 60,000 words in the two-shot spinoff ''Chaos Reigns'' and, at the time of writing, 70,000 words of the sequel are mere punctuation at this point. Following the completion of the first book, the author has remarked that he's going to try and streamline the second book, make it more direct and narrow the focus somewhat, but even so: while it's very readable, this is not a series to be approached lightly.
** Until about chapter 40 [[GrowingTheBeard (you can kind of tell that it was written over a period of 4 years)]], the author got bogged down with minor character observations that didn't serve the story, to the point that entire chapters went by with nothing happening.
** A third of the way through every character is related/had past dealings with ten other characters, to the point of OneDegreeOfSeparation. This is [[LampshadeHanging lampshaded]] at several points, before TheReveal that it was a) artificial, b) a ''massive'' ChekhovsGun, alluded to in chapter 48 before being revealed in full in chapters 79-80: [[spoiler: Doctor Strange has been steadily arranging events to forge the superhero community into a united front to face Thanos]].
** The cast is enormous. There's the entire Harry Potter cast, the entire Avengers Cast, most of the X-Men, a few DC characters, Vertigo Characters, a few characters from ''Literature/TheDresdenFiles'' and ''Series/StargateSG1'', even Slenderman, thrown in, as well as a couple of OC's. To some, this is part of the appeal, especially since everyone has an important role. To others, it's cluttered.
** Despite the author claiming that he/she doesn't like OP characters, a better description would be that he doesn't like one side going OP at the expense of the other. The action steadily scales up throughout the story.
** And the author tended to spend the beginning of every chapter arguing with/replying to anonymous reviewers as part of an apparently genuine attempt to reply to as many reviewers as possible, forcing you to scan down just to get to the actual story. While a number of these have since been cleared out having served their purpose, many are still there. In summary? It's good, and the above points are actually positives in the eyes of a significant number of fans, but you should know what kind of story you're getting into.
