* AcceptableTargets: Shinji, Asuka and Rei's victims were always the kind of people no one would shed tears for. Rei's "pets" killed at least three SEELE henchmen by accident after they broke into her home. Asuka murdered thugs and rapists. Shinji targeted SEELE's minions to protect or avenge his family. And Gendo and SEELE are worse than the Children.

* MoralityChain: In this story [[AntiHero Shinji]] is a psychotic, arrogant, manipulative {{Jerkass}} with little empathy. Believe it or not, if [[HeroesWantRedheads his girlfriend]] [[{{Tsundere}} Asuka]], [[SurpriseIncest his surrogate -or so he thinks- sister]] [[TheQuietOne Rei]], [[ParentalSubstitute his surrogate mother]] [[TheLadette Misato]], [[ThoseTwoGuys his friends Touji and Kensuke]]... he would be way, way worse. Before moving in Tokyo-3 he regarded people as tools to be used and discarded or morons. But after finding them Shinji begins to show love, empathy, tenderness, caring, pity... when he is around them, and he even tries to use his well-trained manipulative skills for the good.

* JerkassWoobie:
** Shinji is an utter asshole, but he keeps getting hurt and losing people he cares for.
** Asuka is rude and unpleasant... because she lost her mother, her father didn't care about her, and NERV treated her as a puppet. Then she met Shinji, who actually cared about her and helped her... and then [[spoiler:she lost him.]] Later she [[spoiler:got him back...]] right before [[spoiler:being murdered.]]

* BadassGrandpa: In one of the last chapters Shinji finds an old bulldog and he is wary of it, realizing it was one of the creatures drawn to his girlfriend Asuka and therefore it had to be a fighter and a survivor (since that was the kind of animals that followed Asuka around). And if it was old and scarred, it had to have survived a lot of fights and dangers.

* JerkassFacade: Asuka behaved like a bratty, annoying child so no one realized that she was a sad, weak child. However Shinji saw through her mask right away.

* SourOutsideSadInside: When he met Asuka Shinji quickly realized underneath her angry, jealous front there was a huge sadness, fear and she was more fragile than she looked and her soul had many scars.

** When Rei mentions that Asuka dragged her into the shower stall, pinned her beneath the shower and scrubbed until she was fully lathered, Toji and Shinji got nosebleeds.

* HelloNurse: Asuka. According Shinji, "If [she] flashed the class, I bet [she] could kill half the male population".

** A short while later, Asuka spied Shinji while he changed clothes.

However, although she went on a killing spree, she exclusively targeted thugs, rapists and drug-dealers, and she killed them because she was trying to save her boyfriend.

* AlwaysSecondBest: Rei got depressed because she thought she would always be second to Asuka in Shinji's heart even if she talked them into a threesome. She tried to reassure herself that second place is better than no place at all.

* AndThenWhat: At one point [[AntiHero Shinji]] wondered what he would do after getting revenge on his father and [[AncientConspiracy Seele]].

* AttentionWhore: As soon as he met Asuka Shinji realized she was an attention-seeker and deduced why. And as far as he was concerned, she had earned her swagger and he would love doing the same thing.

* AwfulTruth: [[spoiler:The Keeper of Secrets]] showed Misato that [[spoiler:she was attracted to Shinji]] to torture her.

* ConvenientlyAnOrphan: Shinji, Asuka and Rei are orphans and mecha pilots.

* CorruptTheCutie: Shinji, Asuka and Rei were good kids, although they were troubled because of the lack of good parental figures. A servant of Tzeentch ran into Shinji when he was four and mentored him and converted to Chaos worship. Shinji turned into a manipulative jerkass and several years later he converted Asuka and Rei to Chaos. Although they are more reasonable and not as bad as other minions of the Chaos Gods, they are assholes at best.

** Shinji realized early on that Gendo had raised Rei to be his puppet because she played a crucial role in his father's plans, so he worked hard to break her out of that mindset and earn her loyalty.
** Later he did the same thing to Asuka.

* EverythingsBetterWithPenguins: At the end of the fic, Pen-Pen has become The God Emperor Penguin, holy mascot of Chaos Undivided.

* {{Badass}}:
** No doubts about it, this version of Shinji is one bad motherfucker. The skill to hurl lightning bolts together with psychic powers help to achieve that label.
** Asuka is a berserker axe-wielding SuperSoldier devout of the embodiment of war, anger and bloodshed. Make the math.
** Stoic, quiet Rei is a devout of Nurgle, god of decay and corruption. Her body can bio-engineer plagues that can wipe out the whole humankind in one mere day.

* RedHeadedHero: Asuka, red-haired mecha pilot, Khornate berserker and kick-ass, super-powerful heroine.
* RedIsHeroic: AntiHero example. When Shinji saw Asuka's HumongousMecha was red he found it fitting since she is a ''Khornate berserker''. She always wears red. And later [[spoiler:when her body is undergoing a transformation caused by her new powers, her skin becomes crimson-red.]]

* OutsideContextHero: Shinji, Asuka and Rei have powers gifted by dark gods, can tap the power of an alternate dimension made of sheer energy and thought, and have access to future technology. Gendo and SEELE have no counter to their abilities and they weren't even aware of them until it was too late.

* AFormYouAreComfortableWith: After their ascension to godhood, the new ''[[TabletopGame/{{Warhammer 40000}} Chaos Gods]]'' [[spoiler:-a., k., a.
