** It's initially suspected that Alix is a werewolf due to her strange scent and the fact she is having issue with a time at the month. At the end of Chapter 4, Juleka and the others find out that Alix is actually a witch. The real werewolf is ''Chloe''.

** This happens in Chapter 4 when Chloe is revealed to be the werewolf and the chapter ends as she appears in full werewolf form.

* CursedWithAwesome: Juleka both really appreciates her vampire abilities and gets annoyed by some of the little things about it. In general, she probably has the most constantly useful abilities of all the mystery gang, but in turn the most issues in life from them.

* LowerDeckEpisode: {{WordOfGod}} says that the entire fanfic is meant to take place around the second season of the show, with most of Ladybug and Chat Noir's battles with Hawkmoth being offscreen.

* MutualMasquerade: The glamours that hide magical things from the sight of the average person also affect other magical beings to some extent, so before the events of the story, the only characters who were already aware of the true nature of a fellow classmate were Alix and Chloe (who knew about each other). On top of this, all the "traditional" supernatural and mythological happenings are completely separate from those surrounding the Miraculous. As such, not only do the Mystery Gang have no idea that Marienette and Adrien are superheroes, but the superheroes and villains are completely unaware that witches, werewolves, and the like are even real, much less that there are a bunch of them in the same Parisian classroom.

* OurMagesAreDifferent: Alix is a witch who specializes in paper charm magic, and has taken to helping Chloe stay under control during full moons. Her big brother Jalil and Juleka's half-brother Luka are also mages.

* ParentsAsPeople: Aurore's parents are well meaning to their adopted daughter, and WordOfGod confirms they do love her, but doctorial advice on avoiding accidentally being affected by Aurore's seduction power has left Aurore touch starved.

* PowerPerversionPotential: While a very SFW take on the idea, Kagami takes advantage of being able to turn into a cat to get all the time she wants on her crush Marinette's lap and all the affection she could want from her while Marinette has no idea (about Kagami's feelings or the fact that she can transform into 'Muffin').
* PlotParallel: In chapter 36, the plot of the canon episode "Reverser" (where Nathaniel mistakenly believe that Marc and Marinette were trying to trick him with a fan journal about Ladybug, which leads Marc to get Akumatized into the titular akuma) happens at the same time as Alix [[spoiler:[[BrokenPedestal getting enraged after finding out that Nathaniel's family are monster hunters and that he nearly killed Juleka]]]]. Alix even lampshades this trope after she and Nathaniel reconcile, advising him to give Marc a chance to explain himself just as she gave Nathaniel one.
* PsychicLink: After [[spoiler:Chloe and Alix rekindle their familiar bond after Chloe breaks it]] they gain the ability to send telepathic messages to eachother.

* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: [[spoiler:After finding Chloe emotional distraught from Audrey's cruel words, Alix falls into a powerful rage that leads both of them to be Akumatized into Little Red and Wicked Witch. Wicked Witch wants to burn down the world for hurting her Little Red, and especially wants to burn Audrey to ashes]].
* ScarsAreForever: Chloe's scar on her ankle from when she became a werewolf.

* SecretTestOfCharacter: [[spoiler:Nathaniel's's parents]], both Monster Hunters, kidnap Juleka and tell [[spoiler:their son]] that she had killed innocent people and that they must kill her. [[spoiler:Under their pressure, Nathaniel gives in and stabs Juleka, though thankfully the knife turns to ash on contact. Ultimately, it turns out the test was for Nathaniel to realize his parents were lying and stand up for himself and Juleka, and he failed that. Nathaniel, meanwhile, [[MyGodWhatHaveIDone freaks out that he nearly killed his friend over a test]]]].

** Alix's style of magic deliberately draws from ''Literature/TheKaneChronicles'' and ''WesternAnimation/TheOwlHouse''.
** Juleka quotes Hellsing Abridged during a fight with Chloe "So- are you gonna come at me? Am I gonna come at you? Perhaps we should come together?" However they wrote 'perhaps' instead of 'should'

* TakeThat: When thinking about why Chloe and Alix are so close [[spoiler:after fighting them as Little Red and Wicked Witch]], Marinette theorizes that they could secretly be half-sisters before calling the idea of Chloe having a sister "a dumb plot twist in some dumb kids show". The chapter this line came from was published less than two months after the canon debut of Chloe's half-sister [[spoiler:and superhero replacement]], Zoe.

* TheUnReveal: In chapter 54, [[spoiler:Mylene]] confirms that [[spoiler:Ivan]] is magical, though she gets interrupted before she could clarify what kind of monster or magic-user he is.

** In chapter 53, [[spoiler:Aurore finds out that Mireille is an Incubus, and both of them talk casually about their demonic nature and their work at [=KidsTV=], including [[CallBack the Weather Girl contest that lead to Aurore being Akumatized into Stormy Weather]]. The conversation remains civil until Mireille explains why she was shocked at the results]].

** While Kagami does have a fan-suggested akumatization, it will not be mentioned because it washes down the character and is against the author's wishes.

** Juleka hates ''Literature/{{Twilight}}'', but all but quotes it when she says that ”It’s the fluorescence” in regard to Alya commenting on how red her eyes are.

Juleka Couffaine is a vampire. She's always been one, but while she's gotten used to the little ways it makes her life different--her need to drink blood, her inability to cross moving water, and so on--she's been feeling lonely. After all, she's the only magical creature she knows. But then one day in class she notices that Alya has a fox-skin jacket around her waist, and the jacket seems almost magical. She investigates Alya, and after discovering the reporter's own magic powers, begins investigating the other people she knows as well. As it turns out, many of Juleka's friends and classmates aren't quite human themselves, and Juleka finds herself gathering a group of friends and allies (who call themselves 'The Mystery Gang') as they try to make sense of the magical world around them. This story is currently fifty-one chapters long and is still in progress; notes and some future plot points are available on the creator's blog.

In addition to the main story, a fanfic of the fanfic was written in the comment section mostly by [=CartoonAddict564=], with [=SorryJustAnotherPerson=] contributing a couple of segments. The premise of the spinoff is that Rose Lavillant is a paladin, and that her parent's zeal to smite evil creatures and to trade back the 'fake' fey Sabrina for the human one brings her into conflict with the Mystery Gang in general and with her true love Juleka in particular. Soon Rose, Juleka and the others must find a way to stop the fanatical paladins, as well as deal with Hawkmoth and other magical enemies (such as the mysterious monster-hunting wizard Felix Graham de Vanily). * MutualMasquerade: The glamours that hide magical things from the sight of the average person also tend to affect monsters so at the start of the story only Alix and Chloe know of another monster/magical thing in their class (each other) and this is by chance. Meanwhile being magical doesn't mean that any of the Mystery Gang know that Marienette and Adrien are superheroes nor do said heroes have any idea their best friends and many of their classmates aren't human.

** [[spoiler:When she finds out that Chloe is a werewolf, her mother Audrey insults her with [[FantasicRacism derogatory dog terms]] and even considers putting her own daughter on a leash. She even outright says in public [[IHaveNoSon that she doesn't have a dog as a daughter]]]].

* PopCulturalOsmosisFailure: When Kagami asks Aurore why she became a weather girl, Aurore jokes it is [[Film/MeanGirls because her boobs can predict the weather]]. Kagamai, having not seen the movie, thinks Aurore is being literal and wonders if it is a succubus power until the latter clarifies that it was a reference.

* ADayInTheLimelight: The first half of chapter 50 is about Maeve, Rose's guardian [[spoiler:and an ancient Fae]], and focuses how she adopted Rose [[spoiler:after she became a Grimm]] and became a proper parent for her. The second half focuses on [[spoiler:Rowan, Juleka's dad,]] as he is made to adjust to the modern world by Juleka.

* SecretKeeper: [[spoiler:As of Chapter 53, only Juleka and Kagami know that Rose is a Grim Dog, while the rest of the Mystery Gang thinks she is a normal human]].

** It is confirmed that Nora has a bear trap scar from when she and her mother and sister ran away from their 'sperm donor'.

* BullyingADragon: Tomoe Tsurugi was originally the guardian Nekomata for the Tsurugi Family after being blinded and enslaved by an ancestor. She is still a powerful yokai nonetheless, as Kagami's father found out when he tried to force himself on her in drunken lust, leading to her killing him and taking over the company.

Rose is horrified and states she wouldn't dare do that since Juleka needs them to live. She also clarifies that she's only going to tease Juleka into teasing her blood, rather than outright forcing her to.]]

* PasteEater: Aurore had ate glue once when she was four, and she is annoyed that Alix brought that back up by using it as her chat room name.
