* SameCharacterButDifferent: The backstory of Oneshot Wren being a former Splatfest champion is kept, but instead of becoming a cowboy in ''WebAnimation/SMG4MovieWesternSpaghetti''[[note]]except not really[[/note]], he's a bounty hunter hired by Lawyer [=SMG4=] to stop [=OnyxKing=]. Having said that, the fight with him in Chapter 9 takes place in a desert as a nod to the aforementioned Western scenario, [[spoiler:and in the last chapter, [=SMG4=] invites Wren to come with him to Australia for something he's working on, which is Western Spaghetti]].

* AdaptationalNiceGuy: Oneshot Wren is more of an AntiVillain here than the monster he was in ''WebAnimation/SMG4MovieWesternSpaghetti''.

* VileVillainSacchrineShow: Most of the story is a crazy chase prompted by a misunderstanding, with fun references to [=SMG4=] left and right. But when Lawyer [=SMG4=] [[spoiler:reveals his true form as a demon]] in the last few chapters, things get dark real fast.

* MotiveRant: Once Lawyer [=SMG4=] is found out [[spoiler:as the Onyxoni Demonyx]], he begins describing his origins and motives, mostly to [=OnyxKing=]. It's so long that it takes up ''two chapters''. To summarize, [[spoiler: the Onyxoni Demonyx is "the demon god of troublemaking and pranks" that was imprisoned by a band of wizards. The actions of Zelus during the "Revenge of Zelus" arc somehow manage to set him free, and from there, he's been manipulating events behind the scenes through disguises and planting ideas in peoples' heads.]]

* MotiveRant: Once Lawyer [=SMG4=] is found out [[spoiler:as the Onyxoni Demonyx]], he begins describing his origins and motives, mostly to [=OnyxKing=].
--> [[spoiler:"Many thousand years ago, some idiot cultists performed a demonic ritual and unwittingly opened a rift in reality, opening the door for the Onyxoni Demonyx to come through. I terrorized your lands, played pranks on your ancestors, and created chaos everywhere. Alas, my fun didn't last long. A band of wizards came together, and imprisoned me with the darkest of dimensions outside of time-and-space. In my prison, time was irrelevant, and eternity passed as I thought of how I would return to menace the world again. Eventually, I found a way, out of my prison, and back into this world. [...] In the moment I sensed opportunity to return, as I noticed the barriers of reality weakening, I sensed a power in your world. Someone evil was spreading terror, and wielding a form of magic. Oh, and this special someone had escaped a different sort of prison they'd been stuck in for an uncertain amount of time like I was. It was through their escape, and through the havoc they'd caused, that I found my way back into your reality. If only she was still alive right now, I'd have... [Zelus] to thank. [...] It was the release of your estranged creation, and the power she wielded during her reign of terror in the Mushroom Kingdom, that allowed me to enter your realm again. And I watched from a great distance as the Inkling you created was destroyed in battle with Mario. And seeing your relationship with [=SMG4=], knowing how you took inspiration from him, and watching the Lawsuit Arc that he did about Nintendo suing him with Lawyer Kong, I had the most deliciously insidious idea in the world as you became my prime target. Oh, you could say it was PERFECT, [=SMG4=] suing [=OnyxKing=] for the usage of his characters, and for stealing his ideas. When the Onyxoni Demonyx began formulating the idea, I wanted to manipulate your friend, motivate him to sue you, but as I thought about it more, impersonating and making [=SMG4=] a 'lawyer' made all the more sense for my plan. My powers are beyond anything a mere mortal in this world can ever imagine. I can take the form of someone you know, infiltrate clubs, governments, and other groups, and create chaos while disguised as someone trustworthy. I've assumed different forms many times before, imagine all that I achieved with all of the forms I took amidst my chaotic pranks and troublemaking. Assuming [=SMG4's=] form was too easy, so was combining that with a little Lawyer Kong, the shades, and the suit, while keeping the lovely blue-colored hat. As the plan fell into place, I was able to get in touch with many of [=SMG4's=] associates such as Hal Monitor, and finding the likes of Oneshot Wren, Splatfest legend-turned bounty hunter, was just as easy as getting his number. Those two dimwitted guards... Oh, they are so easy to manipulate.]]
