* MagicallyBindingContract: Everlasting Oaths, originally appearing in "Covention," are expanded on slightly. Breaking one incurs a penalty on the oathbreaker, taking some of their magical power away permanently. Breaking too many of them can render an oahtbreaker utterly powerless. When asked to make one to not share anything they speak about with Darius, Lilith refuses because the terms are too broad, and Darius agrees to amended terms that are less restrictive. Lilith also thinks it was stupid of Amity to make one with Luz; Not having any innate power at all, Luz would not suffer any consequences of breaking it, while Amity would.

* ManipulativeBitch: Lilith, of course. She only watches after Luz to acquire the portal, keeps her from suspecting anything by going along with her antics, tricks Amity into keeping her secret so she doesn't snoop around, all while maintaining contact with the Emperor's Coven.

* CentralTheme: Redemption, specifically LoveRedeems. Luz expresses a strong belief that everyone, no matter how awful, has the potential to become better and deserves the chance to try. Evident of this, Lilith starts out the fic as, to not put too fine a point on it, a horrible, arrogant, selfish person, but with time and love, especially the maternal love she has for Luz, develops into a caring and protective mother figure for the girl. Both her and Luz's stories also show them reaching a hand out to someone who was an antagonist in the original show, giving them the support and love to become better.
