The fic takes the tone of a straightforward action/fantasy and each chapter except the prologue and epilogue is in two segments. [[AC:Since this fic is the {{Continuation}} for ''VideoGame/{{Onmyoji}}'' canon, beware canon spoilers.]]

Names The Same is no longer a trope

* NamesTheSame: Kanemasa demands his shikigami to call him "Kane-san", not knowing it's also the nickname of Izuminokami Kanesada.

Loads And Loads Of Characters is no longer a trope

* LoadsAndLoadsOfCharacters: The ''VideoGame/ToukenRanbu'' side provides ''nineteen'' characters, not counting the enemies, a few background characters, the saniwa and Konnosuke. That alone should tell you something.

* HypotheticalCasting: The casting list in the Wattpad posting before the Cast feature was removed from the site mostly consists of actors having played characters appearing in the games' live-action adaptations reprising their roles (with Higekiri being an exception – Masaki Okada is assigned this role instead, as Hiroki Miura already plays Hiromasa). This, of course, doesn't apply to OCs and canon characters who hadn't appeared in live action (at the time of writing), so the fic had to assign hypothetical actors for these characters:
** Shun Oguri as Minamoto no Yorimitsu
** Seishirō Katō as Monjumaru/young Yorimitsu
** Shūji Hayashi as Minamoto no Yorichika
** Fuku Suzuki as Fugenmaru/young Yorichika
** Hiroshi Abe as Minamoto no Mitsunaka
** Tatsuya Isaka as Shishiō
** Eisuke Tsuda as Juzumaru Tsunetsugu
** Ryūnosuke Kamiki as Onigiri
** Harumi Inoue as Hōōka
** Creator/NaoNagasawa as Aoandon
** Masataka Kubota as Susabi
** Creator/HirokoKasahara as Miketsu
** Shima Iwashita as Kuzunoha
** Mitsuru Karahashi as Abe no Yasuna
** Tatsuomi Hamada as Hōchō Tōshirō
** Kōhei Murakami (b. 1986) as Mōri Tōshirō

Designated Love Interest is now YMMV. Also not a good example of the trope which is for romantic couples who don't interact like one.

* DesignatedLoveInterest: Susabi and Miketsu are just flat-out stated to be married from their first appearance without any buildup. It is also a ForegoneConclusion that Kuzunoha and Yasuna will marry and have a son by virtue of being what happened in history/mythology.

* BoundAndGagged: Izuminokami by Shoyō, using ink.

Added DiffLines:

* TitleDrop: Chapter 9 ''Sekkankangen''; the magical ink Shoyō uses to bind Izuminokami turns into these characters.

* AntiquatedLinguistics: When Ishikirimaru asks "Higekiri" what year it is, the latter says it's ''Kannazuki of the first year of Tenryaku'', which in modern linguistics translates to October 947.

* NoodleIncident: One word: ''tenshiki''. It's stated Yorimitsu's finding out the meaning of this term caused a clan-wide chaos only rivaled by Onigiri's (Higekiri in Onigiri's body) falling unconscious unwarranted.

Added DiffLines:

* HypocriticalHumor: Yorimitsu is outraged at Higekiri in Onigiri's body's misnaming him, yet constantly misnames his manservant.

* ShoutOut: "Tenshiki".[[labelnote:explanation]]a reference to a rakugo play of the same name.[[/labelnote]]

Added DiffLines:

* AccidentalMisnaming: Yorimitsu easily rivals Higekiri and his (canonical) tendency of this. The name of his servant Yasue isn't that hard to remember, but Yorimitsu calls him with a different name each time, gems include "Chazuke", "Hazure" and "Basuke". He later gets his just deserts when Higekiri, in Onigiri's body, misnames him as "Toshiyori".

Added DiffLines:

** Yasue, who's so sick of working for the Minamoto he's decided to quit for good until Yorimitsu repeatedly unknowingly interrupts him.

Added DiffLines:

** Yasue, Yorimitsu's unfortunate manservant.
