''[[https://archiveofourown.org/works/16935876 The First Saniwa]]'' is a ''VideoGame/ToukenRanbu''/''VideoGame/{{Onmyoji}}'' crossover fanfic written by [[https://archiveofourown.org/users/Ki_no_Shirayuki Ki_no_Shirayuki]] as part of the ''[[https://archiveofourown.org/series/1211379 Memories of Heian]]'' series, preceded by ''Fanfic/{{Mononofu}}''. The story is crossposted on [[https://www.wattpad.com/story/179863461-the-first-saniwa Wattpad]] with an official Japanese title of ''Saniwa naru Onmyōji'' ("an onmyōji who is also a saniwa").

The fic takes the tone of a straightforward action/fantasy and each chapter except the prologue and epilogue is in two segments. [[AC:Since this fic is the {{Continuation}} for ''VideoGame/{{Onmyoji}}'' canon, beware canon spoilers.]]

* InSeriesNickname: Revisionists are referred to as "Dark Heralds" by characters from the ''VideoGame/{{Onmyoji}}'' side.

* NamesTheSame: Kanemasa demands his shikigami to call him "Kane-san", not knowing it's also the nickname of Izuminokami Kanesada.

* LoadsAndLoadsOfCharacters: The ''VideoGame/ToukenRanbu'' side provides ''nineteen'' characters, not counting the enemies, a few background characters, the saniwa and Konnosuke. That alone should tell you something.

* HypotheticalCasting: The casting list in the Wattpad posting before the Cast feature was removed from the site mostly consists of actors having played characters appearing in the games' live-action adaptations reprising their roles (with Higekiri being an exception – Masaki Okada is assigned this role instead, as Hiroki Miura already plays Hiromasa). This, of course, doesn't apply to OCs and canon characters who hadn't appeared in live action (at the time of writing), so the fic had to assign hypothetical actors for these characters:

* DesignatedLoveInterest: Susabi and Miketsu are just flat-out stated to be married from their first appearance without any buildup. It is also a ForegoneConclusion that Kuzunoha and Yasuna will marry and have a son by virtue of being what happened in history/mythology.
