However, Tirek stealing his magic twice and Cozy Glow's plans causing him to lose his magic too ended up accelerating it until it wound up in its current state in a way they couldn't have predicted.
** The plan to not tell him and quietly train him was designed to avert Nova himself being a spanner in the works, due to Nova's unpredictable reaction to hearing the news. He could have quietly shut off and rebelled on principle, he could have blown up like he did at the end of Part 1, they felt it was safest to keep him in the dark until they had a solution to the problem so as to keep him acting normally.
