''The 61st Annual Hunger Games'' by Creator/EJKearney, is a Fanfic that takes place in the universe of Literature/TheHungerGames. The HeroProtagonist is Barley Mayes, a 15-year-old girl from District 9 (''no'', not ''that'' Film/District9) reaped to participate in the 61st [[DeadlyGame Hunger Games]]. However, there are other characters to get a [[PointOfView POV]] ([[JerkWithAHeartOfJerk Caspian Hadala]], [[DarkActionGirl Clarisse]], [[MentorArchetype Sylva Mayleaf]], [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold Maximus]], and [[IneffectualLoner Sarahva Boor]]). Barley is allied with her district partner, [[NiceGuy Dagan Starche]], as they try to survive the Games together. But as they progress and they witness several horrors, they start to wonder: is emerging victorious any better than losing?

The fanfiction takes place thirteen years before the start of the main trilogy and sixteen out of twenty chapters are currently published, with the others works in progress to be soon released.
