** In Chapter 19, it's revealed that Jounouchi and Izuku watched the Sports Festival every where while Yuugi secretly dies inside.
* BasedOnATrueStory: China and the U.S.'s crime of experimenting on humans to study the emergence of quirks were inspiried by the RealLife Unit 731 from Japan. In this story, the Unit was an actual event which occurred before quirks were a thing.

** During the second half of the story, Yuugi starts to build [[spoiler:an anti-gravity device]]. And in Chapter 20, [[spoiler:Yuugi uses a prototype with Seto's help to maintain a Sports Festival tunnel from collapsing to prevent further casualties]].

* ConnectedAllAlong: Grandpa Sugoroku is revealed to have played games with, and beaten, various [=MHA=] characters with high level positions. As of now, he's beaten [[HeroicDog Police Chief Tsuragamae]] and [[WhenEldersAttack Gran Torino]]. [[WordOfGod Arinrowan]] even admits that he lost a friend of a friend to All For One. [[spoiler:Aka Nana Shimura]].

** The cryptic user "thefuturelaughsfromtheceiling" comes from a Japanese verb which gives a hint to the one behind the screen. The proverb reads: [[spoiler:"Speak of tomorrow and the ''rats'' in the ceiling laugh".]]

** The same can be said about Yuuei's security system as [[spoiler:the League of Villains are able to control their security systems and interfere with their radio waves, limiting access to the outside. Seto was also able to hijack their system so he can have a visual on what's happening in the arena above]].

* InternalRetcon: Ishizu explains that national superpowers have had a grim hand in human experimentation (China instigated Unit 44, the U.S. performed Executive Order 1388, Japan creating Unit 731) in order to study the early emergence of quirks. But because the research from those atrocities contributed to greater understanding of quirks along with the head scientists not being punished for their crimes, the general public has minimized the negative implications for those and other related events for future generations.

** Sugoroku mentions knowing someone who can transfer and take Quirks who now works as a teacher in the Americas. ** Jounouchi threatens to terminate Izuku's hero career if he ends up breaking his bones or limbs while being a hero.

* InsecuritySystem: Despite I-Island being proclaimed as a top of the line kingdom of superior technological advances, the security measures leave alot to be desired. There are hardly any competent security officers available, attendees like Yuugi can wander to restricted areas without consequence, and Seto learns that [[spoiler:the security feed are easily tampered and erased by outside forces]].

** Instead of Bakugou it's [[spoiler:Eijirou Kirishima]] who gives a speech during the opening event of the Sports Festival.

* TemptingFate: On their second day at Yuuei, while reflecting on how everything has been strange, new but ultimately pleasant, Yuugi thinks to himself that it's going to be a great school year for him...

* WhamLine: Chapter 11 gives us some unsettling development over what happened to [[spoiler:the corrupted Soul Room in Wolfram's mindscape after Yuugi's intervention]].
