Trope has been disambiguated. Removing ZCE.

* VoiceOfReason: Nigel acts as this for Sera, or at least tries to, whereas Skroop does whatever she tells him to without hesitation.

* YouCantFightFate: It's said by that there's a calamity coming on an even greater scale than the Kalos War.

The second installation in the main Legendverse. The sequel to "Pokémon Black & White: Tale of a Legend", "Flight" is based off the events of the Gen 6 games and narrates the adventures of Volantes and Thrin Gurei two years after the battle against Team Plasma, known in-universe as the Battle of Vertress. Together with their friends from Vaniville Town, the siblings decide to challenge the Kalos League - in Volan's case, only by using Flying-type Pokémon. However, the bloody history of the Kalos region comes back to haunt them in the form of Legendary Pokémon and a fanatic criminal organization hell-bent on creating a beautiful new world... at least, for those that survive. -----------
!!Flight of a Legend provides examples of:

* AlwaysChaoticEvil: Sera seems to only live for antagonizing those around her, Thrin in particular.
* AnimalTalk: Just as in the first story, except now Volan can understand the speech of those closest to him.
* BagOfHolding: Again, the strange ability to carry virtually anything in a backpack is lampshaded.
* BewareTheCuteOnes: Majesty, before she's captured by Volan, is aggressive to the point of gathering an entire swarm of Combee and chasing him down.
** of Team Flare.
** In the prologue, Xerneas and Yveltal take orders from a single Zygarde Core, which is tiny compared to either of them. It's obvious they know of Zygarde's unique abilities.
* BewareTheQuietOnes: With variable success, Sera tries not to show any emotion, but she's hiding twelve straight years' worth of anger under the surface.
* BigDamnHeroes: Bernice and Oliver come to Volan and Thrin's defense when they're attacked by Team Flare at Professor Sycamore's lab.
* BilingualBonus: Latin names for Pokémon return, and translations are provided at the end of each chapter. Additionally, Akuma's name means "devil" in Japanese.
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: This almost happens to Sina's Garchomp when Team Flare affixes it with a collar designed to .
* BrokenBird: The reason why Sera is so unpleasant is because . It's implied that Skroop and Nigel are the only ones that have kept her from going completely insane... although it could be argued that she's already some of the way gone.
* CallBack: The events of "Tale" are occasionally brought up.
* CallForward: Professor Sycamore is working with Samson Oak on the RotomDex.
* TheCameo: The Pokémon smuggler from the anime's XY series makes a quick appearance.
* TheChosenOne: Or Chosen Three, rather.
* ChickMagnet: Calem is frequently thought of as good-looking by a number of female characters. He gets it a lot.
** Professor Sycamore too, of course.
* CombatPragmatist: Toby CrossesTheLineTwice when he has his Beartic use Blizzard on Rudy, after the latter had already fainted from taking too much damage.
* CrashIntoHello: As a CallBack to "Tale", Volan reunites with Caitlin in this way.
* DarkIsEvil: While not necessarily a villain, Sera isn't exactly a ray of sunshine, either.
** Inverted with Yveltal - she's just doing her job.
* DeadpanSnarker: Several of Piper's translated comments come off as rather sarcastic.
* DefeatMeansFriendship: Standard for the Pokémon universe, but Majesty the Combee is mentally conditioned to obey the wishes of her new "queen" when Volan catches her.
* DistantPrologue: The prologue takes place 3,000 years ago, after the end of the Kalos War, before going to the present day.
* TheDogBitesBack: Sera is .
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: Toby is introduced leading a trio of children, too young to be raising Pokémon on their own, into the middle of the woods where a monster is said to lurk.
** Arguably, his Establishing Character Moment was way back in "Tale of a Legend", where he beat down Volan and Bernice in a flashback and triggered the former's CynicismCatalyst.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: Team Flare announces their scorn of Team Plasma, or more accurately, their horrendous uniforms.
* Flashback: Sera has a brief one as she recalls how she met her starter Pokémon.
* FriendlyRivalry: Inverted with Volan/Toby and Thrin/Sera. Played straight with Thrin/Calem.
* FunnyBackgroundEvent: When Sera promises to get revenge on the Lumiose Gym Leader for throwing her out of the Gym, she briefly notices Clemont (the Gym Leader) reacting with horror and dismisses him.
* GoldfishPoopGang: The four Team Flare grunts that harass Volan, Thrin, and Trevor both in the forest and on Route 4.
* HairTriggerTemper: Celosia of Team Flare, as well as Sera De Lis.
* HoldYourHippogriffs: Pokémon-based phrases continue to be used, although taken UpToEleven with Shauna.
-->Shauna: Why don't you put your Mankey where your Meowth is and fight me in a Pokémon battle?
* HurricaneOfPuns: What results when Shauna meets Professor Samson Oak.
* ItsPersonal: Why Volan and Rudy are so motivated to battle Toby the first time they meet (again).
* Jerkass: Toby, full stop.
* MeaningfulName: Volan continues to give his Pokémon these - Edgar the Murkrow named after the author of The Raven, Piper the Fletchinder called as such because she's a songbird, and Majesty the Combee will eventually become a QueenBee.
* OhMyGods: Arceus continues to be invoked, although other OlympusMons are mentioned as well.
* PaperThinDisguise: It is not subtly implied at all that Garchomp Blade and Gallade Cloak are actually Sina and Dexio with Mega-Evolved Pokémon.
* PrecisionFStrike: Sera to more than once, but especially after she finally breaks.
-->Sera: I'M FUCKING DONE!
* PropheticDream: Volan dreams of the Ultimate Weapon on the first night of his journey, and again in Camphrier Town.
* PunchClockHero: Yveltal teases Xerneas about spending his existence growing flowers, implying that his sternness is due to this.
* PungeonMaster: Shauna, and then some.
-->Shauna: You vivillains are really starting to ledybug me!
** In an interlude chapter, Shauna interrupts a video call between Samson Oak and Professor Sycamore, and starts a pun-off with the former. Sycamore decides ScrewThisImOutOfHere in response. WordOfGod is that Shauna being a punner was decided long before the Sun & Moon anime revealed Samson as such.
* RecruitedFromTheGutter: Thrin recruits Gulp the Bellsprout, who was just abandoned by Toby after losing a battle and wants to show him up as a result. Seems to be a running theme with Toby, as this was how Volan caught Rudy in "Tale".
* Retcon: Ash's journey through Kanto was immediately followed up by Unova in "Tale of a Legend", then Hoenn for two years and finally Kalos.
* RoyalsWhoActuallyDoSomething: Lord Shabboneau, the rich owner of Shabboneau Castle, wants to take matters into his own hands when it comes to the Snorlax due for Camphrier Town's Harvest Festival.
* RuleOfFunny: Why Shauna peppers her speech with Pokémon puns.
* RunningGag: Volan sometimes chats with his friends from Unova online.
* ShoutOut: Multiple so far:
** Volan is playing Super Slowbros with his friends overseas in the first chapter.
** Thrin names her Elegant Vivillon "Akuma", after another purple butterfly with strange powers. Doubles as a StealthPun.
** Sera's favorite video games are Pocket Monster Hunter and Resident Yveltal.
* ShipTease: Trevor might have a thing for Shauna based on his reaction to her hugging him.
* SpoiledSweet: Lord Shabboneau, as well as Caitlin, who was revealed to be wealthy in "Tale".
* StepfordSmiler: acts downright cute, but she's easily the most disturbing villain Volan and Co. have met at this point.
* ThoseTwoGuys: Tierno and Trevor are best friends, and Volan sees them as this.
* TimeSkip: The main story begins nearly two years after the Battle of Vertress.
* TookALevelInBadass: Volan and Thrin's old Unova Pokémon have only gotten better over the years.
** The Team Flare grunts that Volan and Thrin defeated in Santalune Forest come back with and almost get their revenge.
** Dexio and Sina, by far the most dramatic example of this trope seen in the Legendverse. They've gone from useless in the games to being actual superheroes, and are considered good enough to have partnered up with Blaziken Mask in protecting Lumiose City.
* UnusuallyUninterestingSight: Shiny Pokémon are said to be this in Kalos, possibly due to mutations resulting from the fallout caused by the Ultimate Weapon 3,000 years ago.
* VerbalTic: Edgar'll be talkin' like dis, see? It ain't just the accent, see?
* VillainRespect: Sera was inspired to start working to become a Trainer when she saw Volan's heroic deeds on TV, and she treats him with respect (although the same can't be said for his sister).
* VillainessesWantHeroes: Calem, unfortunately, is good-looking enough to have grabbed the attention of Team Flare admin .
* VoiceOfReason: Nigel acts as this for Sera, or at least tries to, whereas Skroop does whatever she tells him to without hesitation.
* WhatTheHellHero: Nigel has a moment of this when Sera commands him to .
* YouCantFightFate: It's said by that there's a calamity coming on an even greater scale than the Kalos War.
