''My Trans-Dimensional, Overpowered Protagonist, Harem Comedy is Wrong, as Expected'' is a {{Crossover}} fanfic by Sage_Of_Eyes. The premise is simple enough: Hikigaya Hachiman, the protagonist of ''LightNovel/MyTeenRomanticComedySNAFU'' and one of the most cynical, snarkiest LightNovel protagonists out there, ends up in the RPGMechanicsVerse of ''LightNovel/IsItWrongToTryToPickUpGirlsInADungeon'' through unknown means. If he reaches the end of the Dungeon (which no-one has fully explored), he'll be able to go home.

An Axe To Grind is no longer a trope

* AnAxeToGrind: Hikigaya steals a Minotaur's halberd in order to defeat the Adolescent Dragon that was sent after him in order for him to level up. [[spoiler:He later asks [[TheBlacksmith Welf Crozzo]] to make one for himself.]]

This or these examples of Surprisingly Realistic Outcome seem to violate at least one of these rules, which disqualifies them: No character reactions (characters get angry, don't forgive, don't change their personality instantly, etc.); Too fantastical (depends on the properties of magic, powers, sci-fi tech, monsters, etc.); Not surprising (a character was warned about the outcome, it's used to provide Karma or An Aesop, or it simply follows normal conventions for this genre or medium); Plot happens (the example only describes an event, but not why audiences would expect a different, unrealistic outcome); Not an outcome (a character just explains why something wouldn't work as expected); More of a Deconstruction (the event has major, lasting effects on the plot, make something more realistic, but not completely realistic, or a parody/fanwork applies realistic consequences to the events of a different work); or fits better under a different trope. See the trope's definition for more details. If you believe a removal was a mistake, please bring it up in the cleanup thread.

* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome: Unlike other protagonists from isekai genre, when transported to another world, instead of adapting immediately and proceeding to have a good time in another world, Hachiman has a total mental breakdown and basically goes insane. Even after two years in another world, Hachiman has not completely accepted that he is stuck in another world, and devotes himself to a suicidal quest to reach the end of the Dungeon in order to return home to his family or die trying.
** Hachiman's habit of taking the heaviest workload in the Dungeon leaves five of his students underprepared and causes them to die in the Dungeon when they go into the Dungeon without him.
** The deaths of his students leave Hachiman traumatized, so he shuts himself off in order to cope with the guilt. Even after he come to terms with it, the incident still leaves its mark on him.
** Instead of suicidally trying to reach the end of the Dungeon, Kaori, a girl sent to Orario in the same manner as Hachiman, has given up and accepted the possibility that she may never return home.
** Hachiman's wish to reach the end of the Dungeon is seen as suicidal by his friends in Orario because no one has ever managed the feat in the 1000 years Orario has existed.
** Because he comes from Earth, Hachiman is reluctant to kill his enemies, and, even after two years in this much more vicious world, he never completely adapts to the kill-or-be-killed culture of Orario.
** Despite doing very well for himself in Orario, see OneManIndustrialRevolution, Hachiman still desires to return to his family back on Earth.
** Despite War Games being designated as non-lethal competitions, death can still happen from either accident or malice, as all Adventurers compete using real weapons.
** Even if you save their lives, people may not be happy if you do it by risking your own life. Hachiman knocking out Laulos at the end of fight against the Calamity and proceeding to solo said Calamity by almost dying, results in Laulos angrily confronting him in the aftermath. Hachiman's refusal to consider Laulos' feelings results in her breaking away from Hachiman's group.
** Hachiman's insistence on viewing his life in Orario through the lens of being in a Light Novel is not PlayedForLaughs. His experiences ARE real; he's not just some character in a badly plotted story. His delusion is shown to be a coping mechanism to maintain his emotional distance from the people he plans on leaving behind when he reaches the end of the dungeon. Hachiman himself reluctantly acknowledges that it is not healthy behavior.
** Although it was [[spoiler: driving him insane and hurting those who care about him]], Hachiman's antics while in his HeroicSafeMode were ultimately making Orario a better place. As such, [[spoiler: when he came back to his senses, those who he was previously helping wished that he never did.]]
