* AdaptationalVillainy: Downplayed for Alma Coin in the vein that her true colors are shown much sooner. Finnick is not as naive as Katniss and can tell something is off about Coin from the first time he meets her. This makes her come across as much more malicious and manipulative from the start such as when she tells Finnick and Katniss why they cannot rescue Peeta and Annie yet. [[ForegoneConclusion Of course]], he is absolutely right to mistrust Coin considering [[BitchInSheepsClothing she is as bad as President Snow]].

* ArmorPiercingSlap: Johanna slaps Finnick when he tells her [[spoiler:Crane will break the dam and flood the arena, giving Annie the best chance to win the Hunger Games, if and only if Johanna sleeps with him. She does it.]]
