''[[https://archiveofourown.org/works/15849576/chapters/36914763 Let the Darkness Bring Us Into the Light]]'' is a ''Manga/YuGiOh''[=/=]''Manga/MyHeroAcademia'' Fusion Fic written by arinrowan. The story focuses on the early years of [[IJustWantToBeNormal Yuugi Muto]], the boy who would be King of Games, as he tries to make sense of the world and maintain his new friendships. But things aren't so easy when the world he's living in is one where heroes come alive and dictate the value of a person. This is the first installment of the ''[[https://archiveofourown.org/series/1508525 Lost in the Infinite Lights]]'' series. The sequel, ''[[https://archiveofourown.org/works/31456157/chapters/77805935 Shed Some of This Black Light to Surrounding Towns]]'', is currently ongoing and [[{{Fanfic/ShedSomeOfThisBlackLightToSurroundingTowns}} has it's own page]].

* MythologyGag: There are tons of references to the Yu-Gi-Oh franchise and the My Hero Academia series.
** Yugi uses All Might's answer ("You can be a hero, Izuku") when his best friend asks him out of desperation.
** Ms. Chono is stated to melt her face whenever she becomes agitated; this is a reference to her Penalty Game from the manga.
** Tanaka-ba names her cats after classic Duel Monsters, one of which is named Winged Ra.
*** Ra was once owned by a stab-happy villain called [[{{WebVideo/YugiohTheAbridgedSeries}} Millennium Steve and was previously named "Mega Ultra Chicken"]]. Tanaka-ba also comments that Yuugi's name for the new kitten is better than "Slifer the Executive Producer".
** The name for the new kitten is Kuriboh.
** Izuku claims that "his body moved on its own" when he saw Jounouchi and Yuugi fighting delinquents.
** Jounouchi mentions how he can't put on his shoes without checking for scorpions after an incident involving a guy with an Arachnid themed Quirk. This is reference to one of the manga plots where the shoe merchant did a similar trick. [[spoiler:Yami would encounter, and traumatize, the same person after Hirutani hires him]].
** After Yami's awakening, Izuku suggests naming him Atem or Dark Shadow.
** The Best Friend Squad mention having a run-in with Hirutani who attacked them with yo-yos.

** Chapter 13 is called "Mirror Wall" which references Mai's trap card and [[spoiler:Yuugi building a functioning shield barrier]].
** The last chapter is called "Something you can show, but can't see", a reference to Jounouchi's riddle.
** Seto Kaiba shows an interest in developing space exploration technology, just like in [[{{Anime/YugiohGX}} GX]] and [[{{Anime/YuGiOhTheDarkSideOfDimensions}} Dark Side of Dimensions]].

* AcquaintedWithEmergencyServices: Yuugi runs into SO MANY villain fights that the local police know him by name and he knows them; and the officers keep begging him to stop getting into fights.

* AuthorAppeal: The creator has an exceptional dislike for [[TheScrappy Endeavor]] so you can find Yuugi and his friends ripping on him when given the opportunity.

* CastFullOfGay: A majority of Pro Heroes are revealed to be on the spectrum and the boys casually talk about [=LGBTQA=] themes among themselves without fear or prejudice.

* CuteKitten: An ongoing plot element is Yuugi and his friends getting to interact with different types of cats. It helps that his auntie is the resident cat lady who's experienced in breeding and raising cats.

** Yuugi is diagnosed with autism. The story focuses on him and his Grandpa managing his autism along with how he perceives the world around him.

* InSpiteOfANail: While being a crossover with another series and undergoing drastic plot points, Izuku still faced Quirklss discrimination and would later become All Might's successor.

* PositiveFriendInfluence: Yuugi, Izuku and Jounouchi are shown to be this to each other as they constantly provide love and emotional support for one another throughout their adventures making them into better people. It's because of this that [[spoiler:Tanaka-ba uses her connections to help Jounouchi enter Yuuei so that he can continue being friends with Yuugi and Izuku for another three years]].

* RaisedByGrandparents: Yuugi is raised by his Grandpa Sugoroku after his mother's passing.

* ShownTheirWork: The author has put exceptional effort in describing Yuugi's autism and what strategies he and his grandfather use to manage it. The same can be said for going into detail when it comes to concepts pertaining to Japanese culture, such as ''butsudan'' or family registers.

* WeirdnessMagnet: Yuugi has the misfortune of being close to dangerous events where heroes have to intervene to save the day. This is something that he is aware of and his friends openly discuss.

* ChildhoodFriends: Yuugi met Izuku when they were 8 years old and have been best friends for years to come.

* TheTalk: Tanaka-ba has one with Jounouchi regarding how his Quirk will influence his puberty period.

** Pro Heroes such as Endeavor, Midnight, Present Mic in civilian form, and Eraserhead make appearances before the main events of the [=BNHA=] storyline take place. Even Nighteye appears in disguise in order to [[spoiler:see Yuugi's future]].
** Detective Tsukauchi would appear as a recurring figure for [[spoiler:Yugi's quirk counseling by the Ishtar Siblings]].

** Miho Nosaka, from Season 0, appears as an elementary school friend of Anzu.

* KickTheSonOfABitch: After only knowing [[TheBully Bakugou]] for less than a minute and seeing him taunt his friends, Jounouchi manages to punch and restrain him with relative ease.

* MentalWorld: The concept of "Soul Rooms" are used here as Rishid uses this to explore a person's mindset; the room takes on a radical appearance that reflects the mentality and well being of a given person. And just like in the canon story, Yuugi's room is a children's playroom filled with toys and games while Yami's room is an elaborate maze designed to keep out unwanted visitors.

* SadistTeacher: Ms. Chono is just as cruel-hearted as she was in the original as she's purposefully been failing Yuugi, even though he's answered his assignments correctly, out of spite.

* SickEpisode: The second half of Chapter 7 discusses how Izuku, Sugoroku and Yuugi end up sick from a seasonal flu and need shots as a result. However, [[spoiler:Yuugi obtaining the vaccine Trigger would result in the awakening of his quirk and "Yami" in later chapters]].

* SoleSurvivor: The tainted vaccine was revealed to have [[spoiler:contaminated resulted in 301 out of 500 people having a severe reaction to the vaccine. And of those 301, only five were able to make it out alive. Yuugi, Ishizu, and her brother Marik are three of those five with the fourth being in a vegetative state and the fifth having fled Japan]].

* BeenThereShapedHistory: According to Ishizu, the Yuuki family has been one of the most influential families in Japan both before and after the emergence of quirks. After obtaining their own empathy quirks, they decided to participate in arranged quirk marriages to strengthen their power and even had a hand in advocating for quirk acceptance in society.

** Tanaka-ba names her cats after classic Duel Monsters, one of which is named Ra.

* PayEvilOntoEvil: Grandpa recounts a time when his daughter Shougi (Yuugi's mom) would send cybernetic attacks to a hero agency's servers after one of the sidekicks made [[FantasticRacism offensive remarks towards Mental Quirk users]] without consequence.

** Yuugi's mother, [[NamedInTheAdaptation who's called Shougi]], is deceased in the story.

* GenderNeutralWriting: Sugoroku refers to Jounouchi as they[=/=]them.

** Katsuki Bakugou terrorizes Izuku due to his quirkless nature. He also goes after Yuugi when given the opportunity and calls him "retarded" to mock him.
** Yuugi would later be attacked in middle school by some nameless classmates who force him to undergo a meltdown via overstimulation.

** Shizuka Kawaii and Mokubua Kaiba are stated to be quirkless.

* DisappearedDad: Yuugi's father walked out of the family after his mother's death and Izuku's father left the household after he was diagnosed as quirkless. It's not a topic that either boy is comfortable with discussing.

*** His quirk involves being able to communicate with lizards which is a reference to [[spoiler:Seto's appreciation for the Blue Eyes White Dragons]].

** While discussing conspiracy theories with his friends in Chapter 12, Jounouchi mentions how a quirk can be transferred by eating a person's hair.

* GenderBender: Jounouchi's quirk involves turning into a girl (and back into a boy) whenever he gets stimulated or worked up.

* HoldingHands: In order to navigate the mindscape or switch places, Yuugi and Yami often hold hands to get their quirk to work.

* IJustWantToBeNormal: Yuugi isn't interested in being involved in hero society and would be perfectly fine living as a quirkless person.

* ImStandingRightHere: In Chapter 10, Yuugi drags Present Mic by explaining why he doesn't like him along with all of the incidents he's caused with his voice quirk. He does this in front of Nemuri and a very upset Hizashi.
* InSpiteOfANail: While being a crossover with another series and undergoing drastic plot points, Izuku still becomes All Might's successor.
* ItRunsInTheFamily: The maternal side of Yuugi's family is known for having probability themed quirks while his paternal side have empathy quirks.
* KarmaHoudiniWarranty: Throughout his childhood, Bakugou was able to get away with his despicable acts of cruelty to Izuku and Yuugi thanks to gaining privileges for having a strong Quirk. But everything changes when [[BruiserWithASoftSpot Jounouchi]] beats him up after seeing him mess with his friends, followed by [[spoiler:Yami emerging and using a Mind Crush attack that nearly destroys his sanity. And later, he's cited for illegal Quirk usage and physical assault on Izuku which is now on his public record]].

* LightEmUp: Anzu has a quirk that makes her body shimmer whenever she moves alot.

* NoodleIncident: Yuugi and his friends mention having encountered HIrutani who attacked them with fidget spinners.

* RagtagBunchOfMisfits: In Jounouchi's words, the Super Pal Trio consists of a quirkless hero otaku, an autistic quirk probie, and genderfluid Mosu Epusa street trash.

* SinkOrSwimMentor: Playfully discussed in Chapter 9. Even though he agrees to teach Izuku how to street fight, Jounouchi tries to scare him by saying that one of his training methods can involve throwing a vending machine on top of him. The boys then discuss the dynamics and details for Jounouchi's TrainingFromHell methods.

* TheTalk: Tanaka-ba has one with Jounouchi regarding how his quirk will influence his puberty period.

* BreakUpMakeUpScenario: Yuugi and Izuku go through this in Chapter 6-7 when the former tries to get his friend to stop defending [[TheBully Bakugou]] when he continues to gain more wounds while the latter is frustrated with Yuugi not letting the problem go.
