* BigBad: La Cobra, the leader of a vicious gang in Great Lakes City.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: This fic reveals that Lori and Leni lost their adoptive parents and were only saved thanks to Ace Savvy, which is what inspired them to become heroes.
* HeroicFatigue: Lori is exhausted at this time from the constant patrolling and stopping of crime she feels she needs to do. Ace Savvy and Leni tell her to take some rest, but she is being put under even more stress than either of them realize.
* HeroismWontPayTheBills: This is a major plot point in the story. Despite being a hero, Lori is having trouble paying for anything, as apparently in Royal Woods specifically, heroes don't make a lot of money. Lori and Leni were initially being supported by Spade, but once he died, the checks stopped coming. This is the main thing that is making Lori consider moving out.
* VacationEpisode: The fic is kicked off by Lori taking a vacation to Great Lakes City, though she is considering going there permanently.

* SecretIdentity: Each of the heroes have a fake name and an obscuring costume that they use while they are a hero. Apparently, in this world, secret identities are even protected by the government, so that anyone that shares them online is committing a crime.

* AntiMagic: Lord Tetherby's plot involves using robots equipped with weapons that are designed to take on metahumans.
* BigBad: Lord Tetherby, the man responsible for Ace Savvy's death, wishes to carry out his nefarious plans on Royal Woods.
* CelebritySuperhero: Ace Savvy played this role when he was alive, and Lincoln does as well when he takes up the mantel.
* DamselInDistress: Katherine Mulligan ends up kidnapped by Tetherby as part of his plan, and Lincoln saves her.
* DarkestHour: Lincoln has one during Chapter 9 where his attempt to stop Tetherby ends horribly when Clyde is injured and he is branded a criminal. Lincoln nearly gives up but Jordan pulls him back into being a hero.
* DownerBeginning: The fic starts with Ace Savvy being accidentally killed by Wild Card Willy and Lincoln witnessing the whole thing.
* EmpoweredBadassNormal: Lincoln gains Ace Savvy's powers by touching the red cube that was in his house.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: Lincoln, in the beginning, talks about how stressful it would be to have powers. Later on, he ends up getting powers when he touches a cube.
* FrameUp: Lord Tetherby's plan to kill Ace Savvy is to swap one of Wild Card Willy's gadgets for a weapon so he will be blamed for it. It works.
* HopeCrusher: Lord Tetherby's plan essentially boils down to him having Ace Savvy killed so he can destroy the hope of the city, which means they will be forced to turn to his security company to keep the city safe.
* LawEnforcementInc: Lord Tetherby has his own security company that already has a lot of influence throughout the world. He wants to spread its influence to Royal Woods and will do anything to do so.
* LegacyCharacter: Lincoln takes on the mantel of Ace Savvy after his death.
* TheStinger: As much as one can exist in fanfiction. After the fic seemingly ends, we get one last scene where Lisa and Lynn are talking to Lincoln about how there is great danger approaching and how they are forming some sort of L.O.U.D initiative.
* TheUnmasking: At the end, Eclipse unmasks herself as Leni to Ace Savvy, with her admitting that she did it due to knowing who Ace was.
* WhatTheHellHero: When Nova saves Ace Savvy from Tetherby's guards, she chews him out for the terrible decision he made to rush in to stop him despite being warned against him and, as a result, causing massive property damage and getting Clyde badly injured.

* BigBad: The person behind the strange behavior of the students, filling them with negative emotions and causing them to reveal their deepest secrets. It’s later revealed it was [[spoiler:Luan who was behind it as revenge for her mistreatment.]]
* BittersweetEnding: Luna defeats [[spoiler:Luan by overcoming her insecurities, and Luan is willing to keep her identity secret. However, Luna is still self-conscious and unwilling to be a hero, and we learn in TheStinger that Luan has escaped from jail.]]
* CastFullOfGay: Considering the three female main characters, Luna, Sam, and Carol, are in a LoveTriangle, this is to be expected.
* EvilAllAlong: [[spoiler:Luan]] seems to be a nice but shy girl who wants to just make it in life. It is later revealed, however, that she was the one behind the students' going crazy as revenge for how she was treated.
* {{Forgiveness}}: One of the story's major themes is forgiveness for what people do. Mazzy has to choose early on if she is willing to forgive Sully for cheating on her. Luna, later on, is only able to break [[spoiler:Luan's truth serum]] by forgiving herself.
* HatePlague: The enigmatic force that causes a group of students to experience negative emotions and reveal their secrets. It is later revealed that it was [[spoiler:TruthSerums that caused this thanks to Luan.]]
* HeroicSelfDeprecation: Luna has a severe case of this. She hates herself for basically everything. She hates that she is a metahuman and feels that it is a curse, she hates herself for her mother’s death and feels it was her fault when it wasn't, as well as has a lot of insecurities about her being a good enough person and her crush on Carol. In the end, she does manage to accept herself more and stop [[spoiler:Luan]] but it is made clear that it hasn’t fully gone away.
* LighterAndSofter: While it can still get quite dark, this story is much lighter and focuses more on school drama than the fate of the city and murder plots.
* LoveTriangle: One exists between Luna, Sam, and Carol. Luna and Sam have been in a relationship in the past and still have lingering feelings in the present, while Luna has a crush on Carol, which causes Sam to get jealous later on.
* TeenDrama: The fic has a lot of this, especially between Luna, Sam, and Carol.
* TheStinger: After the supposed end, we see Luan inside her prison cell being busted out by a mysterious figure who wants her for something big, which Luan agrees to.
* SympatheticAdulterer: Sully ends up cheating on Mazzy with Chelsea after she seduces him, and he admits this during the HatePlague. In the end, Sully ends up feeling bad about doing this and wants to make it up. In the end, Mazzy forgives him.
