** Kari had just started dating TK before he disappeared. With him gone she has felt distraught since.
** As revealed in The Tamer of Hope, Jeri has had feelings for Takato for years, but thought he didn't return her feelings. She was ''very'' happy to be proven wrong... but Takato [[YankTheDogsChain goes missing the same day he and Jeri were supposed to go on their first date]] which naturally depresses her.

These examples of Surprisingly Realistic Outcome seem to violate at least one of these rules, which disqualifies them: No character reactions (characters get angry, don't forgive, don't change their personality instantly, etc.); Too fantastical (depends on the properties of magic, powers, sci-fi tech, monsters, etc.); Not surprising (a character was warned about the outcome, it's used to provide Karma or An Aesop, or it simply follows normal conventions for this genre or medium); Plot happens (the example only describes an event, but not why audiences would expect a different, unrealistic outcome); Not an outcome (a character just explains why something wouldn't work as expected); More of a Deconstruction (the event has major, lasting effects on the plot, make something more realistic, but not completely realistic, or a parody/fanwork applies realistic consequences to the events of a different work); or fits better under a different trope. See the trope's definition for more details. If you believe a removal was a mistake, please bring it up in the cleanup thread.

* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome: With digimon appearing and casuing property damage it is only natual that the public would want something done about it. There are also those who would develop hate towards digimon.
** So, when Takato and Guilmon disappear, the two who were able to get good PR, it is only natual that would get worse.
** With things becoming more political and the guy in charge of Hypnos being rather against the tamers and their digimon, anyone in the agency that openly supports them gets fired.

''Heroes of the Digital World'' is a Digimon series by [[https://www.fanfiction.net/u/607311/Miss-Anonymous-hp Miss Anonymous hp]]. It is a cross over between the Adventure and Tamer series. The stories are influenced by ''Literature/TheHeroesOfOlympus'' series. The series starts out with Takato waking up in the Adventure digital world with no memory of who is. He embarks on a journey with the digidestined in hopes of finding out who his, as well as the dark force that is causing problems in the digital world.

Note that the series uses the English dub names.

''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/10205417/1/The-Lost-Tamer The Lost Tamer]]'': Even before Takato was electrocuted, he was having a crummy day. It all started when he woke up with no memory, in a strange place, and surrounded by a group of kids known as the digidestined looking for somebody named TK. Now he, Guilmon, and five worried kids must set out to find out what exactly is going on… and why

''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/11471111/1/Tamer-of-Hope Tamer of Hope]]'': This whole situation was really starting to get to TK. He'd hardly slept or eaten; he'd nearly died more times than he could count. He'd only survived this long thanks to Patamon - the only detail he could remember about his life. And now he'd run into a group called the Tamers who had answers, but they weren't talking... even when the fate of the world was at stake.

[[folder:In General]]
* AdultFear: A child going missing without a trace. An all to really fear for a parent.
* AlternateUniverse: In-Universe example. Both the Adventure and Tamer worlds exist as do both of their Digiworlds.
* AmnesiacHero: Both Takato and Guilmon, and TK and Patamon start out as this in their stories. The only thing they know are their names. Guilmon does seem to have some memory of Takato. TK on the other hand had some vague memory of Patamon and of Kari as well.
** Takato and Guilmon regain their memories by the end of Lost Tamer.
* BigBad: Huanglongmon for the entire series.
* DangerousForbiddenTechnique: Gennai’s exchange of TK and Patamon with Takato and Guilmon carries a heavy risk that it could destroy everything in the long run. Which just says how desperate the situation is.
* HeroicSelfDeprecation: Quite a few of the characters have this going for them.
* ResurrectiveImmortality: The digimon that are destroyed don’t stay that way for long. They’ll start to reconfigure almost immediately.
* SevenDeadlySins: The Seven Great Demon Lords all being the embodiments of the seven sins, are also [[TheDragon dragons]] to Huanglongmon
* UniqueProtagonistAsset:
** Takato is able to power up Guilmon with his card and then there is biomerging with Guilmon. The later has a serious draw back as it [[spoiler:nearly kills him]] as it’s not compatible with the Adventure world.
** Patamon being able to digivolve into a celestial digimon is unique as no digimon has been able to do it in the Tamer world. What advantage this will give him is yet to be seen.
* WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds: Huanglongmon was once a hero who, when the digital world and the dark world where threating to destroy one another, became the core for both worlds to balance light and dark. However, as more worlds were created, he had to become the core for them as well. Overtime in his deep slumber he grew mad from the isolation and now simply seeks to awaken and be free. Even if that means the destruction of everything.

* AngerBornOfWorry: Kari and Tai’s mother is quite upset with them for having run off on another adventure without tell her or their father.
* BackFromTheDead: The Orochimon, Dokugumon, and Gorillamon the younger digidestined run into are the ones from the Tamer world that the Tamers had fought and destroyed.
* BeautyIsNeverTarnished: Defied with Yolei during the battle against Barbamon. She is quite the mess, but Ken still thinks she is beautiful.
* BlatantLies: Sirenmon just piles them on, but the boys are to enthralled to notice.
* BigBrotherInstinct:
** Matt is distress over his brother’s disappearance. He refuses to give up the search for TK in order to help find Gennai.

* BigDamnHeroes: When the younger group plus Izzy are trapped in a cave about being attacked by Fangmon and a Cerberumon the older kids and their digimon arrive and push the enemy back.
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: The armored digimon under Sirenmon’s command are under her spell.
* ButtMonkey: Yolei takes quite the beating throughout the story.
* ColdBloodedTorture: Heavily implied that Barbamon tortured [[spoiler:Tai]].
* CompellingVoice:
** Sirenmon has this effect on the boys but not so much on the girls. She has to try a lot hard on them but in the end the girls are able to fight it off.
** Huanglongmon also has this effect on just about anyone.
* DarkSecret: Kari is withholding information from the others about Barbamon threating her with TK, and later Tai, to bring the others to him.
* DeadpanSnarker: Gatomon has quite a few moments of snark.
* DePower: The group lose their armored digieggs resulting in their partners no longer being able to armor digivolve. This was done by [[spoiler:Huanglongmon]] as he is the source of those powers

* TheDogBitesBack: When finally confronting Barbamon, Kari has had it with his manipulation and declares that he isn’t going to hurt her loved ones.
* DreamSequence:
** Across between this and a {{Flashback}}, Kari dreams of her last day with TK before he disappeared. Then it turns into a nightmare with the Demon Lord of Greed threating her with TK to make her compliant.

* EurekaMoment: While crossing the bridge to Ebonwumon’s island Davis has a realization to Takato being called a bridge and that he was an exchange. This leads Matt and Izzy to have the same epiphany. [[spoiler:TK is the other side of the bridge and the other exchange.]]
* EvenEvilHasStandards: It's hard to say what their reasons were when there is only Sirenmon’s side to go by, but the Dark Masters didn’t want anything to do with Sirenmon and destroyed her.
* EvilCounterpart: Inverted, the Adventure world’s Vajramon is a lot nicer than his Tamer counterpart.
* ExactWords: Datamon saying that the past is behind him, and he is a new digimon with a second chance. He has a second chance at doing things the way he wants to do them, rather than what Etemon wants.
** Datamon’s says he made sure that digidestined digimon couldn’t digivolve. Given that Takato is a tamer Guilmon is able to digivolve.
* FaceHeelTurn: He was never on the digidestined’s side to begin with, but Caturamon joins Huanglongmon’s forces. All for the sake of power.
* {{Foreshadowing}}:
** Sirenmon telling Kari that TK is not where she thinks he is. Turns out that [[spoiler: Barbamon never had him, and TK is actually in the Tamer world]]
*** The group start to figure this out after their encounter with Datamon.
** Homeostasis warns Kari that if Takato digivolves further he might not survive. [[spoiler:After the battle against Belphemon fighting as Gallantmon, Takato nearly dies afterwards due to biomerging not being compatible with the Adventure world]].
* ForScience: This is Datamon’s excuse for turning a Tyrannomon into data that he could put on a disk and for wanting to do the same to a human. Which the younger digidestined find out the hard way.
* FriendToAllChildren: Davis is able to keep the baby digimon entertained until Elecmon’s replacement arrives.
* GoMadFromTheIsolation: Homeostasis tells Kari that this is what happened to Huanglongmon and that is why he seeks to destroy everything so he can be free.
* GreaterScopeVillain: Huanglongmon, is in the background of the story pushing things along. Making sure things go in his favor. However, Barbamon is the immediate threat to the heroes and the one commanding the forces against the group.
* {{Greed}}: Barbamon is the embodiment of greed and is the main antagonist of the story.
* GreenEyedMonster: A subversion. Davis had started to be a jerk to TK over Kari but came to regret it after TK disappeared and is hoping to rekindle their friendship upon finding him.
* GroupHug: After nearly dying, Takato gets a big one from Kari, Davis, Yolei, Guilmon and Veemon.
* HarmlessElectrocution: Well not harmless. It definitely hurt when Takato got his from the attack from Thunderbirdmon, but he is able to get back up and fight.
* TheHeart: The reason Huanglongmon wanted to kill Davis so early in his life was because without Davis the rest of the digidestined would fall apart.
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: Datamon made a mistake in letting Takato and Guilmon take the option to fight Karatenmon. Takato and Guilmon are able to bypass Datamon’s digivolution restrictions and are able to defeat Karatenmon.
* TheHeavy: The Demon Lord of Greed, Barbamon, is the one that drives the plot as the antagonist against the Digidestined. Most of the time threating Kari with the life of TK. And eventually [[spoiler:her brother]]
* IHaveYourWife: Barbamon manipulates Kari by holding her boyfriend, TK, hostage.
** When he feels like that isn’t enough incentive,[[spoiler:he takes her brother as well]].
* IDidWhatIHadToDo: Gennai’s excuse for [[spoiler:exchanging Takato and TK so the heroes of two worlds could be brought together]] to save everything.
* ImADoctorNotAPlaceholder: Centarumon twice has to remind people that he is a historian not whatever they are referring him to.
* ImaginaryFriend: Davis had grown to believe that Huang was just some homicidal imaginary friend of his youth. Only to find out that he is very real and was just trying to kill him.
* InnocentlyInsensitive: Guilmon makes a comment about the digi eggs looking delicious causing [[PapaWolf Elecmon to almost shock him]]. Takato intervenes and points out that Guilmon doesn’t understand what he is saying. Saving his digimon from a nasty shock.
* InternalReveal:
** Sirenmon lets Kari’s DarkSecret out of the bag.
** The last bit of dialogue of the story Takato reveals that the Adventure world is a TV show back in his world.
* KidnappingBirdOfPrey: Thuderbirdmon attempts to kidnap Takato, but Elecmon saves him. In doing so Thuderbirdmon takes him instead.
* LeaningOnTheFourthWall: Gatomon states that she has never heard of Sirenmon before. This Sirenmon happens to be an OriginalCharacter.
* LetsSplitUpGang: Matt refuses to stop looking for TK in order to help Takato in the search for Gennai. Even with the odds of everything being connected. So, the older kids go with him while the younger ones go with Takato.
* LetsYouAndHimFight: Sirenmon almost gets the boys to fight to the death. However, through her own sheer force of will Kari is able to make them snap out of it.
* LoopholeAbuse: Datamon made it so that digidestined digimon couldn’t digivolve in his mansion. Takato is a tamer, so Guilmon has no problem digivolving.
* LoveHurts: Kari had just started dating TK before he disappeared. With him gone she has felt distraught since.
* LoveLetter: Takato has one in his pocket at the start of the story. It happens to be from Jeri telling him not to forget about Friday.
** ''Tamer of Hope'' would reveal that [[spoiler:it was going to be their first date]].
* LudicrousPrecision: When Takato ask the group how long TK has been missing Kari gives the time down to the exact minute. This demonstrates how devastated she is by TK disappearance.
* LuredIntoATrap:
** This is what Barbamon is trying to force Kari to do with the others.
** Gennai reveals to Takato that his capture was the result of this trope.
* MakeItLookLikeAnAccident: Huanglongmon made a number of attempts to kill Davis when he was barely a child, though influencing him to do dangerous things.
** He was more successful with Ken’s brother in order to push Ken away from becoming a digidestined.
* ManipulativeBastard: Barbamon holds the life of TK and later [[spoiler:Tai]] over Kari’s head and hounds her on it in order to get her to betray her friends and bring them to him. Even crueler, when it turns out that [[spoiler:he never had TK to begin with.]]
* MisplacedRetribution: Caturamon says that Bailhumon would destroy Davis and Veemon for be holders of the digiegg of friendship just because the power was used to create Thunderbirdmon. Something that is offense to him as the orb for it was stolen. Something that they had nothing to do with in any way.
* MyMasterRightOrWrong:
** Averted with Bailhumon, his master has ordered that Takato and Guilmon have to be destroyed but because of Yolei and Ken’s presence (due to being the creator of the crest of Kindness and Sincerity) that he hears Takato out. Upon seeing Takato’s D=Power he decides to let them go as not to interfere with Gennai’s grand plan.
** Played straight with Ebonwumon when they are told to kill the digidestined. They say that their master’s word is law so they must follow it.
*** Their deva, Vajramon, however disagrees and fights to defend the kids.
* NextTierPowerUp: When all hope seems lost and Barbamon is about to kill Takato, Davis throws himself in front of Takato to try and save him. [[spoiler:His crest activates and saves them both and allows [=ExVeemon=] to digivolve into [=AeroVeedramon=]. Which gives the group enough of a boost that they can gang up on Barbamon and injure him enough to force him to retreat]].
* OurSirensAreDifferent: Sirenmon is part human part octopus.
* OriginalCharacter: Sirenmon is not the same one that is an actual digimon.
* {{Pride}}: The Demon Lord of Pride, Lucemon, has a minor role as playing as a [[spoiler:DisguisedHostageGambit decoy hostage, pretending to be TK, to fool Kari.]]
* RaceAgainstTheClock: The young digidestined have to find and rescue Gennai before [[spoiler:he is sacrificed to awaken Belphemon]] on the winter solstice.
* ReplacementGoldfish: For a moment a depressed Kari wonders if the universe just dropped Takato on her as a replacement for TK.
* SealedEvilInACan: The goal of the enemy is to awaken [[spoiler:the Demon Lord of Sloth, Belphemon, through sacrificing Gennai on the winter solstice]].
** He does awaken but [[spoiler:the digidestined are able to save Gennai]] keeping him from full strength.
* SecretKeeper: When a small memory returns to Takato he confides to Izzy under the promise he won’t tell anyone else just yet. That Takato saw the battle against Apocalymon on a show called ''Digimon''.
* ScrewTheRulesImDoingWhatsRight: Vajramon decides to defend the digidestined from Ebonwumon even Ebonwumon’s own master is saying to kill them.
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: When they see Gorillamon beginning to reform after being destroyed and figuring out that the other two digimon with him will as well, the group decide to get out of there as fast as possible.
* ShoutOut:
** Upon seeing that the new caretaker for Primary Village is a Bearmon, Davis swears he hasn’t been sleeping in his bed and Veemon says he hasn’t been eating his porridge. A little nod to Goldilocks and the Three Bears.
** When the group get to Ebonwumon’s home they are led through a labyrinth by Vajramon, a half-man half bull digimon. This is a shout out to Minoan mythology of the minotaur and the labyrinth that was its prison.
* SlasherSmile: Datamon has one going when the digidestined attempt to leave his compound making it clear he isn’t going to allow that to happen.
* SternChase: Nearly half of the story has the younger digidestined trying to find Gennai by following any lead on Thunderbirdmon.
* TakeMeInstead: After Barbamon [[spoiler: kidnaps Tai]], Kari begs him to let [[spoiler:her brother]] and TK go and to take her instead. Barbamon just laughs and says there wouldn’t be any fun in it.
* TargetedHumanSacrifice: Kari’s blood is needed to help awaken Huanglongmon. TK is also need. Although any of the digidestined would do the powers of Light and Hope are preferred due to being the oldest powers.
* ThereAreNoCoincidences: The group talks about how there is too much going on for all of it to be a case of ContrivedCoincidence.
* ThisCanNotBe:
** Sirenmon lets one of these out after Kari is able to snap the boys out of her enchanment.
** Datamon is surprised when Guilmon is able to digivolve despite his restrictions. [[LoopholeAbuse Turns he only put the restrictions on digidestined digimon]].
* ToServeMan: Orochimon still wants milkshakes and is going to use Kari, Yolei, Ken and Takato to make them. Oh, Guilmon as well.
* TrapIsTheOnlyOption: When Kari tells the group what Barbamon has been forcing her to do they know they still have to go if they want to save [[spoiler:Tai]].
* TrappedInTVLand: When Takato gets some vague memories back he thinks momentary that he is stuck in a tv show. However, everything just feels too real to be some show.
* UncannyAtmosphere: Some of the characters feel that there is something off about Takato and Guilmon. ''Like they don’t belong''.
*** Likewise, Takato has the same feelings about everything around him.
* UnderestimatingBadassery: When Takato tells Datamon he is not a digidestined, the latter assumes he and Growlmon won’t be much of a threat.
* UnwittingPawn: Ebonwumon becomes one when his master orders him to kill the digidestined not knowing that his master intends to destroy everything.
* WhamLine:
** Thunderbirdmon is an armored digivolution.
** Homeostasis tells Kari that Gennai is missing.
** Several lines in chapter twenty-two reveal to the reader that the Orochimon, Dokugumon, and Gorillamon the gang run into are old enemies from the Tamer world. Which means they are also BackFromTheDead.
* WhamShot: After they had just destroyed three digimon that should have been the end of the battle, but then the gang begin to see Gorillamon begin to reform.
* WhatTheHellHero: Gennai gets a lot of flak for his actions. [[spoiler:The exchange of Takato and TK]] just seemed to cause the digidestined problems and distress.
* WhyDontYouJustShootHim: [=AeroVeedramon=] ask why they don’t just destroy Belphemon before he awakes up. Gennai says the darkness of the area is acting as a barrier.
* YouAreNotAlone: Davis is quick to bring Takato into the group saying that as a digidestined he is one of them. Even though Takato isn’t one but shush, he doesn’t need to know that.

[[folder:Tamer of Hope]]
* AscendedExtra: Hanaharu is a character from the show but was a minor no named one. Here he is the recent promoted director of Hypnos and is rather antagonistic.
* BetterToDieThanBeKilled: Patamon points out that jumping off a cliff would probably be better than getting torn up by the Vilemon. Which disturbs TK a little but then he takes him up on it and does jump but gets Patamon to digivolve saving them both momentary.
* BigBrotherInstinct: Henry would rather die that let his sister get involved in the fighting.
* BigBrotherIsWatching: Hypnos’s original purpose was to monitor electronic communication for any threats.
* {{Blackmail}}: Hanaharu tries to get Riley to be on his side by saying he could keep Yamaki from taking the blame for everything that has gone wrong.
* BlatantLies: TK can tell that the others are withholding some kind of information on who he is.
* DarkSecret: Like Kari before her it seems Jeri has some kind of shameful secret that she is keeping from the others. It has something to do with Huanglongmon.
* DeadpanSnarker: Terriermon of course.
* DePower: Just like the others in ''The Lost Tamer'', TK loses his armor digiegg. However, he is warned ahead of time.
* DestructiveSavior: The Tamers have this problem going for them as their fights cause problems for Yamaki who is already on thin ice at Hypnos, and he is one of the few who can openly support them. So, he tells them to keep it off the streets.
* FailedASpotCheck: TK is so stuck in his thoughts that he doesn’t notice the cheery Vilemon sneak up on him until he enounces his presence. Same thing with the angry Vilemon. Luckily for TK the two Vilemon start to bicker instead of tearing into him.
* FanGirl: Kenta and Kazu are oozing this at TK and Patamon.
** One of the female scientists at Hypnos literally squeaks at the sight of him and runs back into her office.
* FantasticRacism: Hanaharu clearly doesn’t like digimon.
* HeroicRROD: By the start of the story TK and Patamon are running on fumes from being chased for three days none stop by two Vilemon. When TK gets Patamon to digivolve into Pegasusmon he can only maintain the form for a handful of seconds before going back to Patamon.
* HeroWithBadPublicity: Without Takato and Guilmon to keep up the good PR, public opinion has been turning against the tamers.
* IdealHero: Kenta is rather surprised that TK would forgo getting his memories back as soon as possible to instead help with the coming battle on the solstice. He thinks the other tamers would be hard pressed to make that decision themselves.
* InnocentlyInsensitive: TK talking about how the Vilemon refused to return to Primary Village causes some discomfort amongst to tamers with him at the time, Jeri among them. Jeri tries not to let it bother her as the others tell him that there is no Primary Village. Her DarkSecret also seems to be playing apart in her behavior.
* InstantSedation: Riley sprays a vile of something in TK and Patamon’s faces, and it knocks them out in seconds. Being as tired as they were possibly help that along.
* {{Jerkass}}: After hanging up on a conversation Hanaharu calls whoever he been talking to an idiot. He has no love for the tamers and their digimon calling Patamon a mistake. He almost breaks open TK’s digivice. It’s no wonder why Rika told TK he wasn’t to be trusted.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Rika still has a very hard attitude and is very confrontational. Such as when Kazu questions TK on if he had seen Takato. Rika points out that he would have said if he had. However, she gives Jeri a free pass for doing the same thing. In fact, she is very nice to Jeri. Having taken her under her wing to teach Jeri everything about digimon.
* KeepingSecretsSucks: Just about everyone is keeping secrets from the others on top of lying to TK and they really don’t like having to.
* LoveHurts: Jeri was ready to fall apart when Takato disappeared, but Rika came in to help her through it.
* OnceDoneNeverForgotten: Kenta pissed his pants in the first grade and Kazu won’t let him forget it.
* PowerIncontinence: Henry and Rika have been warned against biomerging as it could kill them.
* RaceAgainstTheClock: Just like in ''The Lost Tamer'' the group only has a matter of days before the solstice. In this case an army is heading for a portal.
* RelativelyFlimsyExcuse: A strong case for one. Riley tells Hanaharu that TK is Yamaki nephew from an estranged sister. Given the blonde hair it can be quite believable and Hanaharu falls for it.
* TheScapegoat: Yamaki took a lot of blame from all the problems that had been occurring and with Takato’s disappearance got demoted.
* SequencingDeception: When first starting the story you may assume that TK events are happening at the same time as Takato's in ''The Lost Tamer''. However, it turns out that not only has TK been in the Tamer digital world for two months, but it is just days before the summer solstice. That is four months unaccounted for.
* ShipperOnDeck:
** Rika is one for Takato and Jeri. Much to the latter’s surprise.
** Subverted with Jeri towards Henry and Rika. She thinks she sees something between them but berates herself for trying to play matchmaker.
* ShipTease: Henry is starting to have feelings for Rika in the months following Takato’s disappearance.
* ShowWithinAShow: Obviously the Tamer kids would be a little freaked out to see a couple of characters from one of their favorite shows brought to life.
* StealthHiBye: Renamon pulls the hi part when Rika offers her food, causing TK to jump out of his skin.
* SternChase: The story opens up at the tail end of one. TK and Patamon have been getting chased for three days by a couple of Vilemon. They are able to escape into the real world and after meeting the tamers are able to beat the Vilemon for good.
* StunnedSilence: After finally getting rid of the Vilemon for good the tamers all fall silent and look at TK, clearly in shock of a fictional character in the flesh being right before their eyes.
* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome: With digimon appearing and casuing property damage it is only natual that the public would want something done about it. There are also those who would develop hate towards digimon.
** So, when Takato and Guilmon disappear, the two who were able to get go PR, it is only natual that would get worse.
** With things becoming more political and the guy in charge of Hypnos being rather against the tamers and their digimon, anyone in the agency that openly supports them gets fired.
* {{Teleportation}}: TK is able to escape the digital world through a manmade data stream.
* UnusuallyUninterestingSight: Subverted, Guardromon draw people attention when walking down the street, but no one is running for the hills at the sight of a digimon,
* WhamLine: "Impmon’s gone too." Given that he was stated to be the Demon Lord of Gluttony in ''The Lost Tamer'', was his disappearance a matter of choice or was he forced?
