* TheAce: What Izuku emerges as following his internship with Mirko. At the start of the year he demonstrated a lot of potential, but weighed down by his multitude of insecurities, believing the praise his classmates heaped upon him was just them being polite. Mirko's No-Negativity Internship though, provides him the confidence to truly make use of his abilities. By her assessment, even after a day of training he is as tough a fighter as one of the Top 500 Heroes (out of thousands), and goes on to [[spoiler:unlock more of his Quirks]]. Moreover, he steps up as a leader and analyst for his classmates, and is very good at finding ways for others to excel. [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking Also, he has an amazing chocolate chip cookie recipe.]]

** Miruko is introduced multiple Arcs early and becomes Izuku's mentor during the ''Internship'' Arc.

* InvisibleStreaker: Discussed and defied. After Hagakure points out that her "hero costume" consists of just boots and gloves, her classmates are rightfully concerned that she's been walking around in her birthday suit and that she needs a better costume. Power Loader, the teacher in charge of support equipment, is equally shocked by this reveal, as well as outright furious, and promises to give her a better costume. Their first attempt is perfectly invisible but then gets lost. The second attempt actually covered her but was only translucent, and thus she could still be seen to a degree. After her internship though, she learnt how to turn her clothes invisible, and thus could wear a full costume to whatever her desire was.

** Between Miruko's and Midnight's mentorships, Izuku becomes so much more confident and flirty by the time classes resume after internship.

* AdaptationRelationshipOverhaul: Bakugo aside, Class 1-A develops a more positive relationship with the other students who came to see the class that survived a mass-villain attack because Izuku manages to defuse tensions after Bakugo left.

* AdaptedOut: Mineta is expelled by Aizawa after the Quirk Apprehension Tests. He was willing to give Mineta a chance to improve himself even though he came last, but revealing himself to be a major pervert got Aizawa to change his mind as his perversions will make him a liability on the field and he does not want to deal with the Yaoyorozu lawyers in case Mineta crosses a line.

* AnimalThemedSuperbeing: Izuku is now a rabbit-person and uses his rabbit features in his hero-training.

* AnArmAndALeg: [[spoiler: Izuku loses his arm during the USJ incident after getting hit with Shigaraki's Destruction Quirk, forcing All Might to tear it off to keep it from killing him. Thankfully, Izuku's previously unknown regeneration kicks in, regrowing the arm completely.]]

** Mirio loses his admiration for Sir Nighteye after [[spoiler:they get into an argument with the blond refusing to take One For All which led to his mentor flat out stating that he only took him under his wing in so he can better control him as All Might's successor]].

** Or Bunny Ears ''Hero Student,'' as a result of Izuku's internship leaving him filled with confidence, and driving his classmates to distraction with his flirtatious behaviour, and Aizawa to despair.

* CollateralDamage: Discussed. During the ''Battle Trial'' Arc, both Kaminari and Todoroki are criticized for using their electric and ice powers so freely as they could end up doing more harm than good in a real-life scenario. Particularly with electrifying or freezing the bomb which could set it off to detonate.

** All Might serves as one, with his students loving the living icon and his hammy behaviour. Helped by the fact that unlike canon, when Bakugo goes too far in the Battle Trials he intervenes like a responsible adult.

* DeadMansSwitch: One of the precautions UA faculty takes in fear of Izuku having dormant brainwashing is giving staff devices that monitors their vitals and constantly gives Nedzu updates so if they stop giving signals, or just medical alerts, he knows something happened. This proves invaluable at the USJ, and ensures earlier reinforcements when all three signals are simultaneously cut off. Afterwards, they decide to keep them despite it being clear that Izuku is not an unwilling mole, because due to his mystery quirks, it's possible for them to unintentionally activate and go on a rampage beyond his control. At this rate they may become the new standard gear for the teachers.

* GreenThumb: Downplayed with Togeike Chikuchi. Her Quirk ''Foliage'' allows her to manipulate plant life along with speed up the growth process of a plant. However, she can only grow a single tree in a few minutes and she needs to have a seed to start with.
* TheGunslinger: During the Sports Festival, Mei uses modified guns that can shoot nets and freezing bullets to neutralize her opponents. Her later powersuit has two robot arms which hold two handguns.

** As a bonus, it also gives him incredible stamina, as his body repairs muscle tears as fast they happen. On his Quirk Apprehension Test he won the stamina run by a long-shot and was not even tired.

** Being more than dumb muscle, All Might demonstrates his vast experience when discussing Quirks with his colleagues, veteran Pro Heroes in their own right, making observations which surprise and intrigue them.

** Later he decides to tell 1-B and Chikuchi Togeike it as well given how they are going to be spending so much time training together in the future. Plus cracks in his cover-story about what happened at USJ were showing.

* JerkassHasAPoint: Bakugou is right to complain about Shinsou's own complaints on the way the UA Hero Entrance Exam is structured. As Bakugou says, there are several Hero students with weak combat Quirks that managed to pass the exam because unlike Shinsou, ''they put in the effort'' to overcome their shortcomings. Shinsou did not do that and is in fact a twig in terms of muscle mass.

* KillerRabbit: Izuku's rabbit traits makes him look adorable. He is also the most powerful student among UA's First Years, and Miruko teaches him to fully embrace being a Killer ''Bunny.''
* KnockoutGas: [[spoiler:Izuku]] can produce gas from his lungs that knock out other people. It is not as strong, or far reaching, as Midnight's, although the sweet scent helps encourage people to sniff it more.

* LaserGuidedKarma: Aldera Middle School ignored, enabled and encouraged the abuse Katsuki and others heaped on Izuku. Katsuki being so used to being allowed to get away with his actions results in him [[spoiler:attacking his opponent ''after'' the match is over on ''live television'']], which results in Nedzu opening investigations into Aldera which leads to the arrest of its teachers.

** For the ''Stain'' Arc, [[spoiler:both Endeavor and Miruko join in to fight alongside the 1-A boys (and the Offensive Hero) against Stain with the Flame Hero losing badly while Miruko shows up to stop the Hero Killer and finish what her pupil started. Also, without All for One the League have no Nomu to attack Hosu, preventing Stain from being linked to the League of Villains, and costing them in recruits]].

* RequiredSecondaryPowers: Miruko brings up that she noticed that all speedy Mutant-types have the ability to see at slowed down time perceptions since their speed is useless without it. This in turn leads to Izuku realising that a lot of Mutant Quirks have built in secondary mutations to make the main Quirk power work properly and efficiently.

* SeenItAll: As an underground hero, Aizawa has a long history of seeing the worst of humanity. From human trafficking, to child abuse cases, to human experimentation etc. But it comes as a surprise when [[spoiler:Aoyama reveals himself to be indebted to the boogeyman of all villains]].

* ShapeshifterModeLock: Downplayed. [[spoiler:Izuku misunderstanding his rabbit traits, not realizing it's part of a shapeshifting Quirk, causes him to be stuck as a rabbit boy for about half-a-year because of a self-inflicted mental block. His battle with Stain pushing him causes the mental block to disappear and he manages to turn back into his original form with Miruko's help.]]
* {{Shapeshifting}}: [[spoiler:Midoriya Izuku]] can turn parts of his body into parts from different animals. He can give himself a snout from a canine, and turn his hands into claws like a bird's, or even change his gender. An innate feature prevents body dysphoria, which is how [[spoiler:Izuku]] adjusted so well to the very concept of waking up in a hospital with rabbit features, and later experimenting with being a girl.

* TheSlacker: Shinsou's notices that even though many General Ed students were vocally bitter about not making it into the Heroics Program, many of them have done nothing to improve their skills or chances into moving up and are disturbingly complacent in staying in General Ed.

* UnstoppableRage: [[spoiler:Izuku goes through this after Stain plunges a sword on Iida's shoulder which triggers a [[{{Animorphism}} beastly transformation]] as he attacks the Hero Killer.]] While not enough to stop the villain, he fared much better than adult Pros had, and bought critical time.

* WeirdnessMagnet: Poor, poor Izuku. Things just ''keep happening'' to him. He gets kidnapped by Villains, gets experimented on and becomes a bunny boy, then the USJ incident happens, then he gets into a confrontation with Stain, then [[spoiler:he gets attacked by Toga]]. It's bad enough that Aizawa tells his colleagues to guess the name of one of the students involved in the Stain incident, they immediately and correctly guess Izuku.

** Miruko was read in on the truth of what happened with Izuku so that she could probably mentor him.

''[[https://archiveofourown.org/works/34616533/chapters/86174164 Haigha]]'' is a ''Manga/MyHeroAcademia'' ForWantOfANail fic by Creator/DeusVerve. The premise of ''Haigha'' is that Izuku was kidnapped by villains who experimented on him and, among other things, gave him rabbit features.

* RuleThirtyFour: From personal experience, Miruko strongly advises Izuku to never look himself up online. Ever.

* ForWantOfANail:
** The primary nail is Izuku being kidnapped by villains, [[spoiler:specifically the League of Villains]], to be experimented on.
** Izuku was abducted off the rooftop All Might left him on, leaving Bakugou with nobody to save him from the Sludge Villain. While he survived, he caught pneumonia from the attack and was bedridden for six months. This destroyed Bakugou's reputation at Aldera when his classmates saw that he wasn't as invincible as he boasted. Naturally, [[InferioritySuperiorityComplex his existing complexes made that much worse]].
** Because of the monitoring devices Nedzu has his staff wear, he’s instantly alerted when the USJ incident happens after he loses their signals. This allows him to respond to the incident much faster and prevent injuries.
** Mineta's expulsion leads to several changes down the line:
*** The second round of the Sports Festival still needed 42 students, which means Chikuchi Togeike makes it to the second round and later the third round as part of Shinsou's team. This results in UA faculty giving her strong consideration for transfer into the Hero Course.
*** The first joint training class takes place before summer, and Togeike joins as her unofficial exam to join the Hero Course.
*** Shinsou takes Mineta's place in Class 1-A.
** Because of their more positive relationship, Shinsou does not brainwash Aoyama or Ojiro into joining him, and Ojiro does not feel the need to drop out for feeling he didn't earn his third-round placement.
** Bakugou [[spoiler:attempting to assault Shinsou after their match, on ''live television'']], results in the following:
*** [[spoiler:Bakugou is immediately expelled from the Hero Course, transferred to the General Course, and Nedzu places him on probation. The resulting open spot is taken by Hatsume to be a dual Hero-Support student]].
*** Nedzu opens investigations into Aldera Middle School for abuse and discrimination.
** Because the League of Villains [[spoiler:have, by all indications, lost All For One, and combined with Izuku telling the class that he was Quirkless before the League forced several Quirks on him, Aoyama eventually works up the courage to come clean on his own Quirkless past and admit his connection to All for One to Aizawa]].
** On a related note, with [[spoiler:All For One out of commission, the League is much less effective as they are deprived of his leadership. It’s just Shigaraki and the Doctor making it up as they go along.]]
** Izuku ends up interning with Miruko, due to the ongoing rumors about their connection and [[spoiler:him winning the Sports Festival]], instead of Gran Torino, due to not having the same relationship with All Might.
** For the ''Stain'' Arc, [[spoiler:both Endeavor and Miruko join in to fight alongside the 1-A boys (and the Offensive Hero) against Stain with the Flame Hero losing badly while Miruko shows up to stop the Hero Killer and finish what her pupil started. * EntertaininglyWrong: Mirio after finding out that Izuku's quirk came in late, and has more than one, becomes concerned he is associated with AFO. After talking to All Might though, he is relieved the kid is no threat, and the staff knows what is going on with Izuku, even if they can't tell him.

* SecretKeeper: The people who know about Izuku's unique situation are [[spoiler:UA's faculty, the investigating officers, doctors, and Quirk specialists, Class 1-A including Hitoshi and Hatsume but excluding Bakugou, and Miruko]]. Mirio knows more than most, but only enough to reassure him that Izuku is not connected to All For One.

* BetterThanCanon: The Interclass Training Arc replaces the canon Joint Training Battle Arc, where instead of 1-A vs. 1-B, the classes are intermingled so they have to work on their teamwork with strange heroes similar to the Battle Trials, and overcome their differences. The student trying to transfer into the hero course is made to participate in every match, forcing them to show what they are capable of under greater adversity. Also, emphasis is given on every single student being given a review on how well they handled the matches.

* AmbiguousGenderIdentity: Played with. Izuku starts experimenting with differently gendered forms in Chapter 21 to figure out their gender identity. They decide they consider themselves male but have no problem taking a female form. He theorizes that part of Polymorph is preventing body dysphoria.

** Despite what one might assume from Miruko's abrasive manner, and having never been a mentor before, she settles into this role quite well with Izuku. Her training is progressive and difficult without being abusive, she doesn’t want him anywhere near Stain despite the fact that she would be there too, doesn’t judge Izuku for his Quirkless past, and her greatest emphasis is increasing his self-confidence in a healthy manner. [[spoiler:She’s also fiercely protective of Izuku when she knows he’s in danger from Stain, and extra brutal in fighting the Hero Killer for hurting ''her'' kit. She also carefully calms Izuku down despite admitting she’s terrible at offering comfort.]]

** Aizawa proves to be this in how supportive he is for his students. In addition to his canon actions, he carefully and gently helps guide a traumatized Izuku through [[spoiler:discovering his new Quirks]]. When [[spoiler:Aoyama reveals that he received his quirk from AFO, he patiently and compassionately helps his student despite how internally horrified he feels on the kid's behalf, and desperate for answers. At the end, a crying Aoyama expects to be expelled, only to be told he did nothing wrong (although Aizawa is planning a future lesson on heroes properly sharing critical information), and tells him to immediately report to Nedzu so the principal can arrange protection for the whole family]].

** Izuku chastises Iida with this during the ''Stain'' Arc. He points out that Stain is a professional serial killer who's bested multiple Pro Heroes who have years of field experience while Iida himself is still a newbie and his anger alone wouldn't be enough to stop him.

* InternalReveal: Izuku decides to inform his classmates about [[spoiler:his kidnapping by the hands of the League of Villains and how they experimented on him to obtain multiple quirks]].

* KarmaHoudini: Zigzagged with Iida. [[spoiler:He should have faced legal consequences for ditching his mentor in order to fight Stain despite being told otherwise by Endeavor. But Endeavor and Miruko agree not to tell the police since him losing to Stain and gaining a serious shoulder injury is punishment enough.]]
