* WeakButSkilled: [[Fanfic/{{Commander}} Compared]] [[Fanfic/FaithInSuperiorFirepower to]] [[Fanfic/EscalationIsTheNameOfTheGame other]] [[Fanfic/ReverseEngineeringForFunAndProfit commanders]], Flame doesn't really have too much advanced technology, and frequently finds himself facing entities strong enough to match him, meaning he has fewer {{CurbStompBattle}}s. His understanding of diplomacy, esoteric tactics, and willingness to accept help, however, let him match their feats.

* BigCreepyCrawlies: One of Flame’s creations from the ’’VideoGame/{{Spore}}'' universe are human sized bristle worms who have plant leaves growing out their sides. And yes, they can use said plants for photosynthesis.

* PosthumousCharacter: As a whole, the Progenitors from ''VideoGame/PlanetaryAnnihilation'' are this - while more than likely extinct by the point of the story (most of the {{Precursors}} in the universes Flame has visited are NotSoExtinct, but this does not seem to apply to them...yet), their actions form a huge part of the story's MythArc. [[spoiler:The end of the ''VideoGame/{{Warframe}}'' arc, though, reveals they are also NotSoExtinct, but '''heavily isolationist''']].

* {{retcon}}: While generally avoided, the dialogue at the end of the ''VideoGame/{{Warframe}}'' arc was alterd over a year after the chapter was originally posted. The initial version had several characters decide to join up with Flame in a speech that was reminiscent of the one given at the end of the prologue campaing "Storm of Steel" from ''VideoGame/Battlefield1''. Since some of the characters in said speech [[OutOfCharacter would normally say nothing like that due to moral reasons]], the dialogue was rewritten to have them give in-character reasons for doing so, rnaging from [[WeHelpTheHelpless wanting to have the chance to help others in need]] for the Tenno to [[PragmaticVillainy wanting to be on the side that will let them live and give them generous terms for surrender]] for [[spoiler:The Twin Queens]].

* VillainsOutShopping: One interlude briefly shows [[ROB]]'s most trusted subordinates in the heinous act of....playing ''Go Fish''. [[spoiler:Things go to hell a second later, as that particular segment takes place just prior to the battle featured in the previous chapter]].

** Additionally, [[spoiler:it's implied that Chiron the Elder comes from a version of the ''VideoGame/AlphaCentauri'' universe wherethis happened, as she mentions talking to Dierdre Skye and Nwabudike Morgan, something that would be virtually impossible otherwise]].

Following the conclusion of Arc 7 of hte main story, [=Flameal15k=] announced that he was going to make a spin-off roleplay for the story, ''Far From Home'', chronicling the aftermath of the events that happened at the end of Arc 7. Tropes for that story can be found [[Roleplay/FarFromHome here]].

** The ''main'' conflict of the story, between Commander Flame and his [=ROB=], Mellissa, though, is ''definitely'' a case of this, as it is gradually becoming apparent that Flame and Melissa are NotSoDifferent.

* LogicalWeakness: Flame may possess an army of robots and machinery to build more of them, and exists primarily as a digital conscious, but he ''can'' be uploaded into a more human body, which is ''significantly'' squishier than his robotic one, and is ''also'' vulnerable to things that would not impair a robot as all, such as psychological warfare and concussions. [[spoiler:It is for this reason that the Anti-Commander drone he faces at the end of the ''VideoGme/{{Warframe}}'' arc shuts down his commander network, forcing him to fight it in his human form]]. [[RealityEnsues Flame is aware of this weakness and has begun to address it, however, by training himself to be able to fight without the Commander Chassis]].

* GenreDeconstruction: The story is functionally one to all other PA Self Inserts by virtue of asking one question: [[spoiler:what if the Progenitors left something behind to ensure that their technology was not abused]]?

** The Korx from ''VideoGame/GalacticCivilizations'' are an entire race of [[CorruptCorporateExecutive Corrupt Corporate Executives]], with their introductory scene consisting of them attempting to attack two defenseless ships trapped in a minefield so that they can sell the remains of theh ships and their crew for profit. Furthermore, as the they were the ones who made the minefield, its implied they've done this several times before.

* SoWhatDoWeDoNow: [[spoiler:The Lizardmen from ''TabletopGame/{{Warhammer}}'' are facing this - while they are aiding Flame due to orders given by the Old Ones, they don't actually know ''how'' they're supposed to do so. It's indicated the Slann are ''extremely'' stressed out by this, as they don't have any additional commands and thus have to make their own path, some the Slann, who can spend milennia sleeping and meditating on a given topic, are not used to]].

* SoWhatDoWeDoNow: [[spoiler:It's noted that, amongst the beings rescued from the Repository, the [[TabletopGame/{{Warhammer}} Lizardmen]] have become somewhat listless, since they really have no idea what to do since they are no longer in the World That Was (and thus, don't have any way to fulfil the Great Plan). The Skinks have at least taken steps to adjust, and have asked their masters if they could create a new geomantic web in Flame's hub, but time will tell if the Slann will be able to adapt]].

%%* ForegoneConclusion: The Author's Discussion on Discord revealed that Flame will eventually meet other commanders and set up an academy of sorts for teaching them to fight off the various anti-commander forces he's encountered in his travels - this is the entire point of the RP.
