''Between My Brother and Me: Ab Initio'' is a fanfic set in the same universe as ''Fanfic/BetweenMyBrotherAndMe'' and written by the same author of the latter, Creator/GreenPhantomQueen. Although both are crossovers that take place after the end of the Hoenn Battle Frontier (and thus the beginning of the Waking the Dragons arc too), there are two things that make the story stand out.

** Chapter 7: Jun suggests to [[Film/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles "Ninja kick the damn rabbit!"]] in order to wake Wenet up. In the same chapter, Millefeui calls Asuka Tenjoin the [[Wrestling/KanakoUrai "Empress of Tomorrow".]]

* ShowWithinAShow: The ''Chasing Shadows'' website is a very popular go-to site for anything and everything supernatural. WordOfGod is that it's named after the ''Fanfic/{{Shadowchasers}}'' series

* RantInducingSlight: Upon learning that Shooti is a reporter for "Chasing Shadows", Hikari rants about how it's unfair that Shooti (a photographer) got the job while she actually does reporting yet was rejected.

* SomethingCompletelyDifferent: This is the only story that takes place in a first person perspective and doesn't revolve around duels (barring Haruka dueling Rua in Chapter 4).
