* HeroOfAnotherStory: A variant in that Jack, the main protagonist, is a hero whose other story is, in a sense, on hiatus. Having defeated Trumpeter Swan before she left Los Angeles (albeit without recovering the Swan Miraculous), she's free to help Ladybug and Chat Noir as much as she can while in Paris, at least until Omega resurfaces.

* VillainOfAnotherStory: Trumpeter Swan was Rabbit and Perro Negro's enemy in Los Angeles, essentially their equivalent of Hawk Moth with a lot of the same powers. It's been revealed that he was "sealed away", in what Jack seems to consider a PyrrhicVictory because she failed to recover the Swan Miraculous.

Omega qualifies as well for the moment, though the plot summary indicates that he'll be making an appearance at some point.

Moving to a new place is hard enough for any fifteen-year-old, but imagine being separated from your boyfriend, having to learn a new language, and, oh yeah, getting off on the wrong foot with the local superhero by accidentally destroying half the neighborhood. For Jacquelyn “Jack” Smith, her transition to life in Paris is anything but easy, but for Rabbit, her superhero alter ego, there are darker forces at work. Let Ladybug and Cat Noir deal with Hawk Moth. She has her own set of problems.

* LimitedWardrobe: Subverted, in that a few characters who fall under this in the TV show apparently don't here. Chloé's usual outfit is described as her favourite, she apparently doesn't wear it often enough for Jack to recognise it as such when Marinette makes a replica of it for her, nor does Adrien recognise it when he sees it on Jack. Elsewhere, when the subject of Adrien's modelling career comes up, he remarks that he'd wear the same outfit every day if he could.

* ObliviousGuiltSlinging: During the Road Rage attack, Rabbit leaves the other heroes to it after her (successful) plan to kick the driver out of his truck almost gets Chat Noir run over, believing she'll be nothing but a burden to them. She de-transforms and goes back to Nino, who tells Jack about his rescue by Rabbit and praises her alter ego for doing the right thing despite how scared and angry with her everyone else must be. His words make Jack feel even more guilty, enough that as soon as she gets the chance, she changes back to Rabbit and returns to the fight.

However, the founder of Omega Labs was exploiting the defense contract and was always planning to keep the kwamis for his own purposes.

-->Her Kwami stretched and got sucked into her old-fashion wristwatch, turning the leather strap white and changing the clock face so it measured five minutes instead of twelve hours, the single hand stuck in an upright position. The transformation continued from there, crawling down one arm, across her chest, and to the other. A large flat throwing ring, a chakaram, appeared in her hand, which she moved across her face in a circular motion, her white domino mask appearing. Tossing her weapon into the air, she yanked two rabbit ears into existence out of the back of her head and magically smoothed her caramel-colored hair into a perfect side fishbone braid. Jack then caught her chakaram and swung it down as she kneeled, the transformation reaching her toes. Now she was entirely dressed in a white skintight suit weaved out of hexagons. She had opera gloves with the tiniest of claws, more for aesthetic purposes than to actually scratch anyone, and heavy knee-high combat boots that packed a wallop whenever she kicked someone. As if to demonstrate, she stood back up and preformed a few low air kicks and a side kick. She ended by swinging one leg in a perfect circle, her shin level with her eyes at one point, before slamming it down just as her little fluffy tail appeared. To be honest, Jack could do without the tail, but it came with the bulletproof costume.

''[[http://archiveofourown.org/works/7463748 Hop To It]]'' is an ongoing ''WesternAnimation/MiraculousLadybug'' fanfic by lpofdestiny, published at ''Website/ArchiveOfOurOwn''.

!! ''Hop To It'' contains examples of:

* AliceAllusion: When Rabbit shows up slightly behind schedule for a meeting with the other heroes at Notre Dame, Chat Noir tells her, "[[Disney/AliceInWonderland You’re late, you’re late, for a very important date]]."
* AntagonistTitle: Most chapters are named after an akuma, the exceptions being the first, "Jack Hammer" (the nickname for Rabbit when she's mistaken for an akuma, which sticks with people who still think she's a villain in later chapters), and the fifth, "Rabbit" (her origin story).
* TheAtoner: During the Road Rage attack, Rabbit tries to make up for the damage she caused yesterday by helping as many civilians as she can.
* BattleCouple: Jack/Rabbit and Diego/Perro Negro. In contrast to the series' Love Square, they were romantically involved for a short period before they unmasked for each other.
* BigWhat: Alya's reaction when Jack first mentions her boyfriend.
* ButHeSoundsHandsome: Downplayed when Jack tries to defend Rabbit to Alya, then inverted after the Sequana attack when she agrees with Alya and Marinette that she did more harm than good.
* ChronicHeroSyndrome: More than once Jack has promised herself or the other heroes that she won't transform again, but the next time an akuma attacks, Rabbit does what she can.
* ComplainingAboutRescuesYouDontLike: Chloé's reaction to being rescued by Rabbit.
* DestructiveSaviour: Rabbit, who has caused substantial property damage and several injuries with Dogstruction. It doesn't help that she often fails to save anyone in the process.
* DidntThinkThisThrough: Rabbit using Dogstruction to free Chat from Sequana, believing it was the only option. Ladybug tells her afterwards that no, it wasn't, since she hadn't even used Lucky Charm yet.
* EasilyForgiven: After Jack learns about the stunt Marinette pulled with the replica of Chloé's outfit, part of her wants to yell at her for making assumptions. Instead, she mostly feels relieved that she didn't actually do anything to earn Marinette and Alya's ire, and tells her there's no hard feelings.
* {{Fangirl}}: Colleen and her akuma form Cottontail both act like this upon meeting Rabbit, using most of the same words: "Omigosh omigosh omigosh! Ahhhhhh! I can’t believe this is happening!"
* GenderBenderName: Jack chooses to go by this after [[NeverHeardThatOneBefore hearing too many people guess]] (correctly) that she's named after ''Series/CharliesAngels'' star Jaclyn Smith. Her grandmother doesn't approve.
* {{Glamour}}: As in many other ''Miraculous'' fanfics, it's stated that there's a glamour preventing Miraculous holders from being recognised or otherwise identified unless they're seen in the act of transforming.
* GreenAesop: Chapter 7's villain Sequana was akumatised over being upset about pollution of the Seine.
* GreenEyedMonster: As in canon, Marinette's crush on Adrien can bring out the worst in her, and this time it's not directed at a jerk like Chloé or Lila but the completely innocent Jack, who had become friends with Adrien after he offered to show her around Paris and tutor her in French. After she approaches Marinette for help with an outfit on Adrien's recommendation, Marinette sets her up with a replica of Chloé's favourite outfit. When Alya and Marinette find out that Jack has a boyfriend back in the US, they both scramble to prevent her "social suicide", and Marinette admits that what she did was wrong and would have been if she hadn't misread the situation with Adrien.
* HeelRealization[=/=]MyGodWhatHaveIDone: Alya and Marinette's reactions when they learn that Jack has a boyfriend and that their already cruel prank was therefore entirely pointless.
* HatesMySecretIdentity: Marinette and Alya hate Jack out of misguided jealousy for a while, but Ladybug soon starts coming around to trusting Rabbit, as does Alya by the end of Chapter 6. Later, both of them bury the hatchet with Jack the same day that Rabbit screws up again and earns their criticism, though they both acknowledge that she's ''trying'' to be a hero. Meanwhile, several other classmates express hostility to Rabbit over her first "rampage" while praising Jack as a hero for her intervention in the Femme Defamation attack.
** Lampshaded just before Rabbit first meets Chloé - "Maybe they could start fresh. It would be pretty funny if Chloé adored her as a superhero." - and then subverted when she hates Rabbit just as much as Jack.
* HeroWithBadPublicity: Rabbit, whose Paris debut resulted in her causing over a million dollars in property damage and several injuries after she accidentally casts Dogstruction without realising she could even do that. Chat Noir accepts her explanation quickly enough, as does Ladybug when Chat tells her, but Rabbit is first mistaken for an akuma by the media and then for a supervillain in her own right. She does earn a few more defenders when she helps out civilians during the Road Rage attack, including Nino, but the media continue to question whether she's a hero or a menace. Alya even makes a Ladyblog video painting "Jack Hammer" as an agent of Hawk Moth, which persuades most of her class, some of whom have family members that were affected by the first "rampage". Alya eventually turns around on her after she helps save her from Cottontail and makes her a second video with the other heroes, but Rabbit still hasn't quite escaped her "Jack Hammer" reputation.
* HowDoIShotWeb: Rabbit is forced to adjust to somehow acquiring her partner's power, Dogstruction, which activates when she tries to cast Lucky Strike. After finding an abandoned quarry outside the city, she attempts to learn to control it with coaching from Diego via Skype.
* HowWeGotHere:
** Chapter 1 opens with Jack being targeted by an akuma butterfly, transforming into Rabbit, and trying and failing to purify it. She then tries to use Lucky Strike, only to somehow cast Dogstruction instead and tear up the street while trying to escape. After she asks herself "How did everything come to this?", we flash back a few hours.
** Chapter 6 opens with a bit of {{Superdickery}}, as Rabbit seemingly sides with an akuma called Cottontail after she kidnaps Alya. Again, it then flashes back a few hours for some context.
* HypocriticalHumour: [[PungeonMaster Chat Noir]] dismisses "Dogstruction" as a terrible pun. Rabbit calls him out on it: "This from a guy who just said 'I don’t carrot all'?"
* ImaginaryFriend: Chapter 4 has an akuma named Imagineur, a young boy who gets upset after his mother tells him his imaginary friend Fort isn't real. The akuma essentially makes Fort real, albeit invisible to most people.
* ImaginaryLoveTriangle: Marinette thinks that Jack is interested in Adrien, only finding out she has a boyfriend after she sets the outfit prank into motion.
* KidSidekick: Chapter 6's akuma victim Colleen is a preteen American girl who was a fan of Rabbit when they both still lived in California. When she gets upset about Alya's video painting Rabbit as a villain, she gets akumatised into Cottontail, who presents herself as Rabbit's sidekick.
* LanguageBarrier: Jack's grasp of French is limited at first, though most of her classmates can communicate with her in English when they want to.
* LimitedWardrobe: Subverted - Chloé's usual outfit from the series is described as her favourite, but for the purposes of this story, she apparently doesn't wear it often enough for Jack to recognise it as such when Marinette makes a replica of it for her.
* {{Magitek}}: The American Miraculouses are the result of a lab experiment about thirteen years earlier, involving cloned kwamis with different animal forms to the canon ones, bonded with items of significant sentimental value.
* MotorMouth: Marinette gets like this when she's apologising to Jack for the outfit she gave her. What particularly touches Jack about it is that it's entirely in English.
* MyHovercraftIsFullOfEels: Downplayed. The worst of Jack's attempts at French is when she tries to say "Merci Beaucoup" and it comes out as "Beau cul" ("Nice butt.")
* NotWhatItLooksLike: During the Road Rage attack, Rabbit manages to jump inside his monster truck and kick him out, but then comes close to running over Chat Noir, who narrowly gets saved by Ladybug. This is misconstrued as a deliberate attack on the heroes by several of Alya's followers. In addition, Alya films Rabbit interacting with Imagineur and trying to calm him down without attacking him, a tactic that she's used with child akumas before. Alya interprets it as colluding with him, and Hawk Moth by extension.
* PowerCopying: Jack has acquired Perro Negro's Dogstruction power and [[DiscardAndDraw apparently lost Lucky Strike]].
* TemptingFate: Jack and Diego ignored their kwamis' warnings about what might happen if they unmasked: "I think it’s [[YouAreWorthHell worth the risk]], ''conejito''.". As a result, Jack picks up her partner's bad luck, with the implied result of being forced to move to France, as well as her superpower being replaced with his.
* TimeSkip: A month between Chapters 6 and 7.
* TranslationPunctuation: French dialogue that Jack can understand often appears first in italicised French followed by an English translation in parentheses. It's used less in later chapters as she becomes more fluent, instead just using the italics to signify French.
* WhatTheHellHero: Rabbit gets a harsh but fair one from Ladybug after the Sequana attack thanks to her using Dogstruction ''again''. Complete with WhatWereYouThinking
* WholeEpisodeFlashback:
** Chapter 5 cuts back and forth between Rabbit telling Ladybug and Chat Noir what she can about Dr. Anita Blaylock and her creation of the Kwamis, and a series of flashbacks to Jack's memories of her grandmother (Anita) and receiving the Miraculous.
** Chapter 8 has an extended flashback to Rabbit and Perro Negro's relationship, including the night they revealed their identities.
* WordsCanBreakMyBones: Femme Defamation's power. The insults themselves are accompanied by giant rocks which do the actual injuring, but they'll only work on people who can actually understand the words, which gives Jack an advantage - up until she talks to Adrien after rescuing him and gives away that she's an English speaker.
