* HeroWithBadPublicity: Rabbit, whose Paris debut resulted in her causing over a million dollars in property damage and several injuries after she accidentally casts Dogstruction without realising she could even do that. Chat Noir accepts her explanation quickly enough, as does Ladybug when Chat tells her, but Rabbit is first mistaken for an akuma by the media and then for a supervillain in her own right. She does earn a few more defenders when she helps out civilians during the Road Rage attack, including Nino, but the media continue to question whether she's a hero or a menace. Alya even makes a Ladyblog video painting "Jack Hammer" as an agent of Hawk Moth, which persuades most of her class, some of whom have family members that were affected by the first "rampage". Alya eventually turns around on her after she helps save her from Cottontail and makes her a second video with the other heroes, but Rabbit still hasn't quite escaped her "Jack Hammer" reputation.
* HowDoIShotWeb: Rabbit is forced to adjust to somehow acquiring her partner's power, Dogstruction, which activates when she tries to cast Lucky Strike. After finding an abandoned quarry outside the city, she attempts to learn to control it with coaching from Diego via Skype.
* HowWeGotHere:
** Chapter 1 opens with Jack being targeted by an akuma butterfly, transforming into Rabbit, and trying and failing to purify it. She then tries to use Lucky Strike, only to somehow cast Dogstruction instead and tear up the street while trying to escape. After she asks herself "How did everything come to this?", we flash back a few hours.
** Chapter 6 opens with a bit of {{Superdickery}}, as Rabbit seemingly sides with an akuma called Cottontail after she kidnaps Alya. Again, it then flashes back a few hours for some context.
* HypocriticalHumour: [[PungeonMaster Chat Noir]] dismisses "Dogstruction" as a terrible pun. Rabbit calls him out on it: "This from a guy who just said 'I don’t carrot all'?"
* ImaginaryFriend: Chapter 4 has an akuma named Imagineur, a young boy who gets upset after his mother tells him his imaginary friend Fort isn't real. The akuma essentially makes Fort real, albeit invisible to most people.
* ImaginaryLoveTriangle: Marinette thinks that Jack is interested in Adrien, only finding out she has a boyfriend after she sets the outfit prank into motion.
* KidSidekick: Chapter 6's akuma victim Colleen is a preteen American girl who was a fan of Rabbit when they both still lived in California. When she gets upset about Alya's video painting Rabbit as a villain, she gets akumatised into Cottontail, who presents herself as Rabbit's sidekick.
* LanguageBarrier: Jack's grasp of French is limited at first, though most of her classmates can communicate with her in English when they want to.
* LimitedWardrobe: Subverted - Chloé's usual outfit from the series is described as her favourite, but for the purposes of this story, she apparently doesn't wear it often enough for Jack to recognise it as such when Marinette makes a replica of it for her.
* {{Magitek}}: The American Miraculouses are the result of a lab experiment about thirteen years earlier, involving cloned kwamis with different animal forms to the canon ones, bonded with items of significant sentimental value.
* MotorMouth: Marinette gets like this when she's apologising to Jack for the outfit she gave her. What particularly touches Jack about it is that it's entirely in English.
* MyHovercraftIsFullOfEels: Downplayed. The worst of Jack's attempts at French is when she tries to say "Merci Beaucoup" and it comes out as "Beau cul" ("Nice butt.")
* NotWhatItLooksLike: During the Road Rage attack, Rabbit manages to jump inside his monster truck and kick him out, but then comes close to running over Chat Noir, who narrowly gets saved by Ladybug. This is misconstrued as a deliberate attack on the heroes by several of Alya's followers. In addition, Alya films Rabbit interacting with Imagineur and trying to calm him down without attacking him, a tactic that she's used with child akumas before. Alya interprets it as colluding with him, and Hawk Moth by extension.
* PowerCopying: Jack has acquired Perro Negro's Dogstruction power and [[DiscardAndDraw apparently lost Lucky Strike]].
* TemptingFate: Jack and Diego ignored their kwamis' warnings about what might happen if they unmasked: "I think it’s [[YouAreWorthHell worth the risk]], ''conejito''.". As a result, Jack picks up her partner's bad luck, with the implied result of being forced to move to France, as well as her superpower being replaced with his.
* TimeSkip: A month between Chapters 6 and 7.
* TranslationPunctuation: French dialogue that Jack can understand often appears first in italicised French followed by an English translation in parentheses. It's used less in later chapters as she becomes more fluent, instead just using the italics to signify French.
* WhatTheHellHero: Rabbit gets a harsh but fair one from Ladybug after the Sequana attack thanks to her using Dogstruction ''again''. Complete with WhatWereYouThinking
* WholeEpisodeFlashback:
** Chapter 5 cuts back and forth between Rabbit telling Ladybug and Chat Noir what she can about Dr. Anita Blaylock and her creation of the Kwamis, and a series of flashbacks to Jack's memories of her grandmother (Anita) and receiving the Miraculous.
** Chapter 8 has an extended flashback to Rabbit and Perro Negro's relationship, including the night they revealed their identities.
* WordsCanBreakMyBones: Femme Defamation's power. The insults themselves are accompanied by giant rocks which do the actual injuring, but they'll only work on people who can actually understand the words, which gives Jack an advantage - up until she talks to Adrien after rescuing him and gives away that she's an English speaker.
