* PostMortemPossessions: All grave goods and sacrifices given to the dead become full-scale versions of themselves in the Underworld. Paper and wooden effigies become luxurious and possibly magical treasures, food items become neverending, and sacrificed animals are restored as loyal and virtually indestructible sources of food, fur, labour, and the like. Consequently, funerals are usually lavish affairs in order to afford the maximum possible post-mortem luxury to the dead, which in turn means that gold, gems, and other treasures and resources are about as common and valuable as rocks in the land of the dead. In fact, the grand funerals given by the Dragon-Blooded to put the ghosts of the slain Solars to rest after the Usurpation actually saved the Underworld, and through that all of Creation. In the wake of the Usurpation, the Neverborn, and their spectre armies arose and tried to overrun the Underworld, but were driven back by the ghosts of the newly dead Solars, who had been interred with their full panoplies of war and retained them as grave goods as a result.

* LovableJock: The Mast [[FictionalConstellations constellation]] in Exalted rules those journeys defined by the physical strength and exertion of those undertaking it. Sidereals who take on this archetype bear the trappings of wearing drab clothes, being honest and ignorant, being silent, and being strong. In its positive aspect, the Mast turns its strength to vital tasks that support the efforts and endeavors of others. In its negative aspect, the Mast's strength is used without question and the mighty are unwilling to question their orders.

* TheInfested: The Hive abomination, gained by direct exposure to the depths of the Wyld, causes mutants to develop some kind of animal nest -- a beehive, ant colony, rodent or snake nest or something like that -- somewhere on their bodies, giving them the ability to call forth a swarm of their... residents... in exchange for an extremely obvious disfiguration. Gaining an additional rank in it causes the nest to expand to the rest of the body, turning the unfortunate into a hollow skin moved about by the creatures inside; whether the original being is still alive at this point is a highly dubious matter.

* PainAndGain:
** Lunars:
*** The Frenzied Bear Fortification charm increases the Exalt's Soak and Hardness the more damaged that they become.
*** Poison Blood Technique fires venomous blood from the Exalt's body, which deals more damage the greater the amount of damage they've taken.
** Spells:
*** The Terrestrial Circle Spell "Blood Lash" has multiple powers associated with it; however, they require the wielder to be at a certain level of damage to activate.
** Artifacts:
*** The bestial moonsilver armor known as Seven Furies Caged has multiple charms that increase strength, damage of attacks, and health restoration for the wearer depending on how damaged they are.

** In 1st Edition, the Wyld surrounding Creation was known as Rakshastan, almost named Fairyland. Generally, it is not a nice place to be due to a variety of factors, starting with random mutations, continuing through randomly inhospitable shifts of landscape, and finishing with the Raksha themselves.

* NewAbilityAddiction: The Exalted all suffer under the Essence Fever, an ineffable compulsion built into their Exaltation that drives them to use their powers and make the world better now instead of waiting in a cave for three hundred years before they've fully cultivated their Essence. Older Exalts can tame this flame, but young Exalts will often get themselves into trouble feeding this beast.

* PhysicalReligion: In Exalted, especially in Heaven, the gods are physically manifest. A god of a great field of wheat, for example, likely exists in a physical location somewhere within the perimeter of the field in an extradimensional domain that it can leave at its leisure. Mortals, therefore, enter into agreements with gods to cooperate in one manner or another so that the gods can expand their domains and the mortals are benefited depending on the god's domain.

By Heavenly law this is illegal, as the gods aren't supposed to intercede in Creation, but the Celestial Bureaucracy has been dysfunctional for a long time. The various branches of Immaculacy, believing that gods should not extort prayer with bribes or threats, aim to have prayer regulated under their direction, with the laity worshipping the gods and the Immaculate Dragons at the direction of Immaculate monks according to prayer calendars. The stronger the Immaculates are in an area, the stronger the prohibitions against private worship.

* MarkOfShame: Lunar Exalted can mark any character they care about, positively or negatively, with the Shining Moon-Child Mark charm, which visibly marks the character (whether with a face tattoo or a severed limb or anything in between) as having that relationship with the Lunar. A Lunar might use this charm to grant their envoy their special dispensation - or mark a hated foe as judged. With certain upgrades, the mark may carry with it instructions for treating the marked, become impossible to remove, and become impossible to notice without being part of a specific culture. At Essence 3, the Lunar can even use Naming the World to mark a stretch of territory as opposed to a person.

* TheMenInBlack: The Sidereal Exalted are the ultimate Men in Black of their setting. Impossible to remember, in the business of wearing disguises and using pseudonyms, acting on behalf of unapproachable Heaven, Sidereals hide their existence without even trying and are often dispatched to keep secret that which is trying to be free.

* MagicCauldron: The Dowager of the Irreverent Vulgate in Unrent Veils found the Well of Udr in the shadowland of the Mound of Forsaken Seeds, an implement of rune-etched, rough-worked stone so tall and large that she must be in her monstrous form just to reach the edge. Inside, the cauldron constantly warbles with the movements of an unknown void, opened to... somewhere in ages past by a long-dead race. Out of this cauldron, the Dowager has produced monsters each worse than the one before, scraps of knowledge from dead civilizations that grant her impossible insights, and the Great Contagion, which killed 9 out of 10 living beings in all Creation before it died out.

* MageBornOfMuggles: The bloodlines of the Dragon-Blooded have branched out so far and affected so many corners of Creation that any mortal has a chance, no matter how small, of the Dragons in their blood manifesting. Those who are not born to any great Dragon-Blooded hegemon get the moniker of Outcastes to denote that they have no built-in allegiance.
