** In ''Series/PowerRangersCosmicFury'', [[spoiler:Ollie]], a Ranger who's been [[BrainwashedAndCrazy brainwashed]] into being Lord Zedd's [[TheDragon right-hand man]], knows from experience that teamwork is an effective strategy in battle, but no longer understands [[ThePowerOfFriendship why]]. [[EvilMentor Lord Zedd]] encourages him to discard such paltry notions as friendship in order to pursue power above all else.

* ''Series/TheBigBangTheory'': As a result of her obsession with rationality and LackOfEmpathy, [[AbusiveParents Leonard's mother Beverly]] can't understand why Mary would believe in God or be so [[GoodParents nurturing of her son]]. In Beverly's eyes, Leonard needed cold logic to be raised as a future scientist but Mary was able to achieve the same results by being nurturing and caring, something Beverly never gave to Leonard while he was growing up. Mary may attribute a lot of things to God's work and attribute Sheldon's knowledge and hard work as a gift from God, she never disapproved of his career or told him he was never good enough because her faith told her to love everyone. Beverly, on the hand, never misses an opportunity to put Leonard last or tell him he was never good enough compared to his siblings. If it weren't for Mary, his family, Amy, or his friends tempering Sheldon's worst traits, he could have become Beverly in due time.

** Glory, through her minions, pesters Ben (who doesn't even turn out to be that good a guy in the end) for information on the Slayer and the Key, unable to comprehend that he might not want to help her hurt people. Jinx honestly talks to him as if he fully expects Ben to happily put Buffy and Dawn in a psycho god's crosshairs, and Glory is surprised when Ben only sends Jinx back to her with a beating.

* On the [[Characters/SurvivorSamoa Samoa]] and [[Characters/SurvivorHeroesVsVillains Heroes vs. Villains]] seasons of ''Series/{{Survivor}}'', this was a huge source of contention for fans of Russell Hantz. Through all of his bragging, double-crossing, and generally making game life a living hell for foe and ally alike, he honestly hasn't considered that the jury is made up of real people playing for real money -- in fact, the exact same very real purse for which he would go on to qualify. He [[RealityShowGenreBlindness assumed]] that they would think and vote according to how he -- and the Hantz Nation -- believed they were supposed to vote. On Samoa, Natalie used this line of reasoning to shape her strategy (and get the big bucks). And on [=HvV=], it kept up especially after the jury -- including an original ally who also had to make her own case to her own jury -- went to great pains to spell out exactly why ignoring their sensible warnings was a ''moronic'' idea. There is a valid reason that, out of the 18 jury votes he was up for, he received only two.

There is a valid reason that, out of the 18 jury votes he was up for, he received only two. Rather fittingly, he would go on to trash the games of the two people who beat him, wondering why people gave their votes to Natalie White (who beat him in ''Samoa'' for her genuine NiceGirl behavior and social game) and Sandra Diaz-Twine (who beat him in ''Heroes vs. Villains'' for, again, having a great social game and for spearheading the anti Russell movement) over him.

** Joffrey seems genuinely baffled but intrigued when Margaery stops to donate some toys and spend time with the children in an orphanage of Flea Bottom in "[[Recap/GameOfThronesS3E1ValarDohaeris Valar Dohaeris]]". During dinner, we hear Joffrey speak of her work (in a positive light, mind you) as if charity were some strange and obscure, but totally alien concept. When Jack Gleeson was asked in an interview what sort of thing Joffrey would ''never'' do, he has to think hard before responding with "charity work" instead of [[EvenEvilHasStandards something vile]].

** This is Littlefinger's fatal flaw in Season 7. He spends his time trying to turn Sansa and Arya against one another, playing on the idea of their jealousy and giving "clues" and "advice" to Sansa on how Arya wants to kill her and take over Winterfell. But Littlefinger has failed to realize three things. First, after so long apart, the sisters are too eager to reconnect to be split apart. Second, they never had the deep-set jealousy that would enable his scheme to work. Third, and most importantly, he thinks Arya is like Sansa in wanting to be Lady of Winterfell. In truth, Arya (a lifelong tomboy having spent years training to be an assassin) couldn't care less about becoming Lady--and Sansa ''knows'' Arya doesn't want it. Thus, any attempt to make it look like a "coup" is being planned is for naught and as it happens the sisters [[spoiler:use this to trick Littlefinger into his own demise]].

** The Drahvins in [[Recap/DoctorWhoS3E1Galaxy4 "Galaxy 4"]] have a fairly long conversation where the main distinction between the HumanAlien commander and the [[ArtificialHuman vat-grown soldiers]] is that while neither group is able to understand why someone would [[HeroicSacrifice sacrifice themself to save a friend]], the commander is at least able to understand ''that'' some creatures would do so, while the much more intellectually limited soldiers are bewildered at the entire concept.

* On ''Series/TheFreshPrinceOfBelAir'' Will works for Phil's old friend, Ernest. Will is stunned Ernest wants him to deliver a bribe to someone and goes through various means to avoid it. He faces Uncle Phil but can't bring himself to tell his uncle how his friend is a crook and lets Phil tear into Will as "sorry doesn't begin to describe you." Ernest arrives with Phil apologizing and Ernest matter of fact says "oh, it's okay, it was only fifty grand, that barely counts as a bribe anymore." Phil is stunned to hear his friend just openly admit his corruption as he assumes Phil won't care in the least. He's very, very wrong.
