Not very threatening overall.

** Illagers generally are just angry villagers armed with crossbows or axes, but the evoker seems to be venturing straight into the HumanoidAbomination territory. It's a pale angry illager, the most powerful of them and the one that seems to be their leader. It's only found in mansions in the middle of the forest, and while other illagers attack using normal weapons or potions, the evoker seems to have studied dark magic and has control of ''the basic forces of life''. To fight, it summons vexes (little angel-specters with bloody veins, who seem to be corrupted versions of the entirely peaceful allays) and... beasts with fangs similar to the Ender Dragon. Oh, and after their death they drop a totem that gives you a second life. The implication is that evokers are experimenting with life and death and are not only able to come back to life, but also summon weird ghost-like beings themselves. Minecraft's ArcWelding (Which is all about soul power) shows that the illagers are the only race to have been able to master life to this degree, showing that, on paper, the evoker might just be the most powerful magician in all of Minecraft history.
*** The vexes (and their benevolent cousins, the allays) are also unearthly in their own right. Not only are they based on angels and display VoiceOfTheLegion, but vexes [[IntangibleMan can go through walls]] and are brought to life by the above mentioned {{Necromancer}}. Allays are more benign and friendly, but also show some StarfishAlien behaviour. WordOfDante says that they [[AbstractEater feed on music]] and if they're dancing and are given an amethyst, [[BizarreAlienReproduction they will duplicate.]] Overall (and following Minecraft's ArcWelding), they seem to be [[UndeadAbomination mish mashes of souls stitched together to do the biding of their master]] with a healthy dose of AngelicAbomination thrown in the mix.

Story Mode has its own page. Game Theory is known for being over-the-top with its theories, and this has little to no basis in the game.

** The Guardians and Elder Guardians are fish-like creatures that live in ancient underwater monuments and seem to guard it. The base Guardians already are pretty weird, looking very deformed and being able to shoot energy beams from their eyes, but the Elder Guardian is an archetypical AnimalisticAbomination. It's very big and looks pale and sickly, yet it can sense the player from a long distance. [[BrownNote It can induce visions of itself and extreme tiresome by merely being next to you]] and its beams are even more dangerous and weird. Its name implied its been guarding the temple for a very long time. Want to get even weirder? The Mobestiary seems to imply that the Guardians are cyborg organisms designed by the original humans and are made of a mixture of normal fishes and technology. Yes, they are an AnimalisticAbomination '''and''' a MechanicalAbomination too!
** Illagers generally are just angry villagers armed with crossbows or axes, but the Evoker seems to be venturing straight into the HumanoidAbomination territory. It's a pale angry illager, the most powerful of them and the one that seems to be their leader. It's only found in mansions in the middle of the forest, and while other Illagers attack using normal weapons or potions, the Evoker seems to have studied dark magick and has control of ''the basic forces of life''. To fight, it summons Vexes (Little angel-specters with bloody veins) and... beasts with fangs similar to the Enderdragon.
** The Phantom resembles a flying manta in decay, and it leaves what seems to be a trail of itself while it flies. It pops into existence when a player hasn't slept for a while, and WordOfGod says it's supposed [[AbstractEater feed on insomnia]]. The fact that its wings are presumably the same material as the elytra, an artifact found on an alternate dimension that allows flight means that Phantoms maybe aren't as earthly as we think. Some players asume that the Phantoms are a hallucination brought by sleep depravation, or a case of MaybeMagicMaybeMundane, but the clues are there to show [[ParanoiaFuel it's very real]]. [[note]] [[FridgeLogic If it wasn't, how would cats be able to bring their membrane? And how would you be able to repair elytra if its wings weren't real?.]][[/note]]
** The Sculk is probably the closest thing Minecraft has to a CosmicHorrorStory plot. Its a [[MeatMoss fleshy]] [[BotanicalAbomination funghi-like parasitic]] [[HiveMind hyper-organism]] that seems to have come from an alternate dimension through the portal frame found on Ancient Cities. To make matters worse, it's heavily implied that the sculk feeds on the souls of beings that died near it, which are absorbed by the Sculk catalysts and make the Sculk grow even larger, transforming close blocks into more of itself. After the Overworld's population got wiped out, the Sculk overtook the underground Ancient Cities and began expanding through the Deep Dark, creating entire biomes of itself. [[ParanoiaFuel And everytime you kill hostile mobs in the Deep Dark to save your life, you're feeding it and getting it one step closer to devouring the Overworld.]] It speaks volumes of just how powerful the Sculk is that its defense mechanism is the flippin' [[BossInMooksClothing Warden.]] Speaking of it...
*** When the Sculk senses a menace to its safety through the sonic organs it has it first shouts some screams to scare away the intruder but if it senses the Plater is still there it invokes '''[[OneHitKO The Warden]]'''. ** Illagers generally are just angry viillagers armed with crossbows or axes, but the Evoker seems to be venturing straight into the HumanoidAbomination territory. Oh, and after their death they drop a totem that gives you a second life. The implication is that Evokers are experimenting with life and death and are not only able to come back to life, but also summon weird ghost-like beings themselves.

** The Endermite is a rare harmless example. On paper it sounds very scary: A parasite that comes from the VoidBetweenTheWorlds, a dimension of poisonous particles that you briefly access when teleporting with an Ender Pearl. Apparently, your brief stance there is enough for it to grab onto you and be teleported to the same dimension as you, where it will try to kill you and presumably try to take over the dimension... And then you realise it's a two-inch long purple bug with as much health as a one-legged chicken and that after a couple minutes it will disappear, indicating that it either must return to its dimension, or continued exposure to another one will kill it. Not very threatening overall.

[[caption-width-right:753:[[ComicBook/ArkhamAsylumASeriousHouseOnSeriousEarth I just want to]] [[MakeThemRot share]] [[ComicBook/ArkhamAsylumASeriousHouseOnSeriousEarth my disease.]]]]

Minecraft is a peaceful game about building bamboo huts and fishing on rivers. It's also chock full of beings who are so otherwordly they wouldn't be out of place in a horror game.

----
* The Overworld, while being by far the most peaceful of the three dimensions, isn't free of some nasty pieces of work, although it makes sense considering it's the homeland of [[HauntedHouse secluded mansions populated by mages]], abandoned portals to other worlds and magical objects.
** Illagers generally are just angry viillagers armed with crossbows or axes, but the Evoker seems to be venturing straight into the HumanoidAbomination territory. Oh, and after their death they drop a totem that gives you a second life. The implication is that Evokers are experimenting with life and death and are not only able to come back to life, but also summon weird ghost-like beings themselves.
[[ParanoiaFuel And everytime you kill hostile mobs in the Deep Dark to save your life, you're feeding it and getting it one step closer to devouring the Overworld. It speaks volumes of just how powerful the Sculk is that its defense mechanism is the flippin' [[BossInMooksClothing Warden.]]]] Speaking of it...
*** When the Sculk senses a menace to its safety through the sonic organs it has it first shouts some screams to scare away the intruder but if it senses the Plater is still there it invokes '''[[OneHitKO The Warden]]'''. The Warden is a gigantic golem-ogre thing that emerges from the sculk and is the single nastiest being in the game. It will try to find the Player through the aformentioned sonic organs, or its sense of smell, while walking like a Cordiceps victim. Not only does it have 300 HP points, but it hits like a truck and moves at high speeds, and to top it off it has a sonic attack [[BrownNote ''and'' can generate a darkness that dims light]]. If the souls on its chest and its spawning animation doesn't spell it for you, the Warden is a bunch of sculk given shape and [[UndeadAbomination infused with the souls the Sculk feeds on]] to briefly defend the organism before fusing again with the Sculk.
** One theory for the [[HellIsThatNoise cave sounds and underwater sounds]] is that they're the noises from [[EldritchAbomination an even more powerful entity sleeping under the Minecraft world.]]
* The Nether is Minecraft's equivalent of {{Hell}}, so it's no surprise that its the native homeland to some [[ComicBook/TheInvisibles Invisibles]] type shit.
** While not a mob, but a block, soul sand shows signs of being this. It's a block with [[AndIMustScream screaming faces over it]], that when burning shows blue fire that does twice as much damage and that when stepped on with the appropiate enchantment, they free soul-like particles from underneath, the implication being that soul sand is either a cage of souls or that its solidified souls themselves! The fact that it slows you down when you walk on it and you sink a bit has led players to theorize its the souls trying to drag you down and assimilate you into the sand. The fact that Piglins are scared of soul fire solidifies even more its Lovecraftian origins. And the cherry on top? It's a component to summon '''[[PersonOfMassDestruction The Wither.]]'''
** Ghasts look like [[OurGhostsAreDifferent spectral jellyfish]] that can fly and are constantly weeping, and their screams sound like a child in pain. They vomit explosive fireballs and when they do it, their eyes light up with hellfire for a second. Furthermore, they're particularly common in Soul Sand Valleys, further indicating their connection with the afterlife.
** Blazes are a downplayed example. They have BizarreAlienBiology consisting of a floating head surrounded by spinning rods of fire, shoot fireballs and emit weird metallic breathind sounds and seem to occupy a similar role than Guardians but for Nether Fortresses. Their rods are used as a basic ingredient for alchemy, including the fuel, the brewing stand and the ingredient for potions of strength. Oh, and WordOfGod says they're [[MechanicalAbomination robots.]]

[[DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu If you manage to kill it]], it will give you a Nether star, which can be used to craft a beacon that gives you a permanent power up as long as you're close to it, and is implied to transform the vicinity into a GeniusLoci.

* The End is where the FinalBoss resides, so it only makes sense that its population is 100% made of these.
** The Enderman is a HumanoidAbomination however you look at it: It's tall, black and apparently slimy, with pitch purple eyes and speaks in [[StarfishLanguage surreal gibberish]]. When provoked by looking at it, it will [[TeleportSpam teleport all over the place]] [[HellIsThatNoise while emitting a horrific shriek]] [[ParanoiaFuel that still persists after its death.]] Then there's the fact that its Ender Pearl is an ingredient for interdimensional travel, which is foreshadowed by the fact that they are also able to travel through dimensions.
