** Each ''WesternAnimation/ToyStory'' film had the characters go through so much to return home. Neither a cruel, sadistic kid, nor a villainous prospector, nor an evil strawberry-smelling bear could stop them. They ''did'' technically give up when they reached the metaphorical gates of hell, but they didn't really have any hope of escape short of [[DeusExMachina someone operating the giant claw to save them]] - which is, of course, [[BigDamnHeroes exactly what happened]]. And as bittersweet as the ending may have been, all the good guys earned a happy ending indeed.

However, the ending is mostly hopeful for the main characters after all the hardships they've been through. The Lord Protector is dead, his forces are routed and the Wolfwalkers still have each other, setting out with the wolf pack to find a new home. It's implied Bill and Moll end up together and Robyn and Mebh are last seen racing together as wolves in the daylight, happy and free to be themselves.]]
