** {{Eagleland}}: Johnny tells the kids that BJJ is "Brazilian garbage" and what they need is "some good, old, all-American, ass-kicking karate". One of them promptly snarks him by asking, "Isn't karate, like, from Asia?"
** HypocriticalHumor: Johnny insults Todd's BJJ background as claims that "Brazil sucks" and he should go live there. When a black student stands up for Todd and refers to him by his title of "Master Todd", Johnny accuses Todd of being racist by forcing the black students to call him "Master" despite this being in a sensei-student context.

** SoapboxSadie: When a black student of Todd's refers to him by his title, Johnny says that in his dojo he doesn't make black guys call him master, even though this is entirely not racist in a sensei-student context. Nevertheless, Todd ends up with a JerkassHasAPoint feeling and tells the student that "just Todd is fine" when he calls him "master" once again.

** BashBrothers: Mitch and Chris tag-team Doug Rickenberger to defeat him near the end of the home invasion brawl. Bert and Nate do the same against an unnamed Cobra Kai.

** Mitch eventually gets up and punches down Paul. In the final script, Paul continues kicking him and only stops when Hawk and Demetri defects to attack the Binary Brothers.

** EveryoneHasStandards: The attempt to blackmail Stingray with the embarrassing video ultimately fails because Bert can't bring himself to publicly humiliate the guy like that.
** WorryingForTheWrongReason: Played straight first where Stingray began panicking when Bert showed the video and was worried that people would see it... ''before'' the special effects, visuals and music are improved. Later averted where even Stingray is a little embarrassed at the video and looked genuinely worried that Bert would actually show it.

** PapaWolf: Johnny looked genuinely concerned when he saw Devon running out of the dojo in tears, to the point where Chozen had to remind him that they were there to strike back at Cobra Kai.

** DwindlingParty: Mitch confirms that after Cobra Kai won the tournament, everyone quite karate. This explains why there were little to no Eagle Fang members showing up during the Sekai Taikai qualifiers or season finale fight, particularly the unnamed Eagle Fang student who did the kata demonstration. Devon further supports this trope by revealing that she joined Topanga Karate as she wanted to continue her training.

** {{Irony}}: Mitch has quit karate due to Eagle Fang closing and does not want to go back to Cobra Kai. In the season finale, [[spoiler:Mitch betrays Miyagi-Fang ''because'' he wants to join Cobra Kai again]].

Bert attempts to blackmail Stingray of an embarrassing video of Stingray dressed as Donatello fighting off the "Foot Clan" consisting of still-images flying across the screen as Stingray "fights" them off.

The scene also reveals that Silver is very well aware of Daniel's rise to wealth as a car salesman, not that it plays a big role in the part.

* In this scene, Sam is seen applying lotion with a Q-tip to her scarred arm from her Season 2 fight with Tory. Amanda walks in and tells her that she hates that she has to do that. Sam says it doesn't really bother her anymore as the scars seem to be fading. Amanda insists upon getting her hands on Tory (not literally), but Sam tells her that all she wants is to beat Tory at the tournament. Amanda then tells Sam that the tournament is a few months away. As she says that if Tory attacks her again, Sam says that she'll defend herself as she no longer fears Tory. Sam tells her mom that there's nothing else she can do.
* Stingray greets his guests at his house for the prom afterparty, include Bert, Nate and their dates, as well as Robby, Tory, Kyler, Piper, and another girl that the latter two go along with. Stingray doesn't recognize Nate, who is later revealed to be going with Lexi [=DiMarco=], the girl he openly has a crush on. Stingray then comes across Robby and Tory and asks for his reinstatement; Tory suggests he goes up to Silver since the latter might be a bit open-minded.
** GiveGeeksAChance: Lexi [=DeMarco=] (who is shown to be very pretty) does go with the short-statured nerd, Nate, despite Bert telling the latter in the earlier episodes that he had no chance.
** PetTheDog: Tory's suggestion for Stingray to appeal to Silver for reinstatement is an sincere gesture to help him out on her part.

* The fifth episode also reveals just what went down in the tattoo shop leading up to Hawk's shaving; the Cobra Kais use Big Red as a distraction to lure Rico away from the store. This leaves Hawk completely alone enough for the Cobra Kais to jump him.
