** {{Eagleland}}: Johnny tells the kids that BJJ is "Brazilian garbage" and what they need is "some good, old, all-American, ass-kicking karate". One of them promptly snarks him by asking, "Isn't karate, like, from Asia?"
** HypocriticalHumor: Johnny insults Todd's BJJ background as claims that "Brazil sucks" and he should go live there. When a black student stands up for Todd and refers to him by his title of "Master Todd", Johnny accuses Todd of being racist by forcing the black students to call him "Master" despite this being in a sensei-student context.

** Mitch eventually gets up and punches down Paul. In the final script, Paul continues kicking him and only stops when Hawk and Demetri defects to attack the Binary Brothers.

* MadeOfIron: Mikey for continuing the fight after having a wine bottle smashed on his head and even winning.

** AdaptationalWimp: Demetri suffers an embarrassing defeat by Daniel where he barely performs better than Chris and Nate. The final cut has Demetri demonstrate a much better showing which impresses Daniel. He still gets hit but is a lot less humiliating compared to how it happened in the original cut.
* AscendedExtra: Chris and Nate are featured in sparring against Daniel while Lil' Red spars too off-screen.

** BlatantLies: Tory tells Kim Da-Eun that she bailed from the Sekai Taikai qualifiers because her ill mother had an emergency. Kim could easily tell Tory was lying.

** PetTheDog: Implied in later scenes. Kim Da-Eun has taken a shine to Devon and gives her a new training regiment. Later scenes shows Devon perfectly fine and still eager to stay in Cobra Kai, implying that Kim is giving Devon actual training rather than torturing her like she does to Tory.

** AdaptationalJerkass: Stingray and Hawk compared to the final cut. Stingray makes a "[[{{Pun}} Diaz nuts]]" joke akin to the "deez nuts" meme to mock the Miyagi-Fangs while Hawk threatens to blackmail Stingray with an embarrassing video. The final cut has Stingray be a lot more reluctant and less rude to the Miyagi-Fangs while Hawk was the more reasonable one, willing to hear out Stingray's method of confessing.

** EveryoneHasStandards: The attempt to blackmail Stingray with the embarrassing video ultimately fails because Bert can't bring himself to publicly humiliate the guy like that.
** WorryingForTheWrongReason: Played straight first where Stingray began panicking when Bert showed the video and was worried that people would see it... ''before'' the special effects, visuals and music are improved. Later averted where even Stingray is a little embarrassed at the video and looked genuinely worried that Bert would actually show it.

-->'''Kyler:''' Wow, you went from being "lip kid" to dating Moon. Wild! Brucks tried to nail her all last year.
-->'''Brucks:''' (attempting to downplay it) It's not like I tried ''that'' hard.
-->'''Kyler:''' Hey, if she hooked up with Lip, maybe you still got a shot.
-->'''Brucks:''' I don't know if I want to now.(gesturing to his own lip) What if she caught what he's got?
*** It's probably for the best they cut these lines, as the beating Brucks did receive would've been much worse if Hawk were to find out this information.
