* DivergentCharacterEvolution: When Extra was first released, Sam was just a MovesetClone of Luna with only a few adjustments (she played a bass instead of a guitar, meaning her neutral B did slightly less damage). After a year or so, after the release of more episodes featuring her in the proper show (in particular "Racing Hearts"), in version 1.5.0 Sam became sostantially a completely different character: the only moves she still shares with Luna are the Powerslide and Stagedive specials, her neutral B now features an acoustic guitar that haves less range than Luna's electric one but allows for better spam, she got a new down B where she summons a flock of chickens that she throws to the opponents and generally became a more melee-focused character than Luna. A later patch further changed her, mostly for rebalancing questions: her down B is now Instrument Swap, that allows her to change between electric guitar, acoustic guitar and bass to alter her neutral b to the player's needs, while her side B is now Chicken Toss, a nerfed version of her old Clucking Call that allows for a single chicken at time to be on field.

Added DiffLines:

** Another example happened with Luna. She was initially depicted with paperclip earrings on both sides, but was changed to only one on her left ear when canon material made it clear that she wears a single one.
* EasterEgg: Two different kind of character-related things in the style of Snake's [=CODEC=] calls and Palutena's Guidance from the Super Smash Bros. series can be found in the game. Fubuki gets Yukiji's explaination (a reference to the spin-off RPG Fubuki's Unlucky Day, where Yukiji haves a Paper Mario-like Tattle ability), where the two talk about whoever Fubuki is fighting against (yes, even if the opponent is Yukiji herself). The other one was added later on as part of Yukiji's Acme Detective DLC costume: one of her taunts features her pulling out a newspaper whose headline is related in some manner to one of the other characters on stage.
* EvolutionaryLevels: While the first two Digimon characters introduced were Ultimate/Mega levels from the start, Pulsemon starts from his Child/Rookie form and levels up as the fight goes on, becoming first the Adult/Champion Bulkmon and then the Perfect/Ultimate Boutmon. His LimitBreak then haves him turn into the Ultimate/Mega level Kazuchimon, before reverting back to Pulsemon.

* EarlyInstallmentCharacterDesignDifference: And a long-lasting one. For years, Yukiji's default colors had the tartan parts of her uniform in red with black trims, while the ribbon was in a dark red. In mid 2021, this was changed after the discovery of a color artwork related to the story arc of Zodiac PI where Yukiji originally appeared, revealing that the uniform's true colors are brown tartan with red trims and red ribbon.

*** Sam also haves a bunch of skins which are almost identical to her default design, except she haves different guitars (like the blue one seen in the comic "Sam's Pick" or the pink one seen in "Deep Cuts"). Another one is her earlier design seen up until "Friendzy", which lacks the eyeshadow.

* ImprobableWeaponUser: The game is filled with a lot of them.
** ArtAttacker: Kurolinda fights with a spray can, Luna and Sam use guitars and Mirumo uses maracas.
** ThrowTheBookAtThem: Some of Yukiji's moves have her use books as bludgeoning weapons.
** WeaponizedBall: Lynn uses footballs and soccer balls in her special moves.

to:

** In the February 2021 update, Fubuki's powerup was revamped into Violent Demon Transformation. Her moveset is now completely different from regular Fubuki, with special moves in particular heaving a wider range and dealing more damage, but also wounding her and with a long lag at the end.

* SuperMode: Both Fubuki and Prezzemolo have one, tied up to an energy bar. Once the bar is fully loaded, Fubuki goes istantly to her Demon Incarnate mode (which boosts all her moves while also depleting her life), while Prezzemolo needs to trigger the transformation with his Down B (and it's a proper transformation that boosts his attacks, improves his air game and even gives him new taunts to represent his Super form's cockier and egocentric personality).

to:

*** In one of the most maddening example, one of Sirius's alt is her disguised as Yukiji, as in the original manga Yukiji was just a fake identity she used once to infiltrate in a private school. This single alternate costume exists just to troll people, as she will be actually identified by the game as Yukiji in order to confound the opponents until she actually starts attacking and you see that she is using Sirius's knives and not Yukiji's books and flasks.
* ShoutOut: When the costumes aren't references to actual other outfits the characters have worn, they are a reference to something else. The "core 9"Trisha, Yukiji, Whirl, Diana, Fubuki, Erina, Blackmoon Kirarin, Sirius and Kurolinda usually get a lot of costumes like those.
** There have been multiple special events that introduced alternate costumes based on other properties. The first big one was based around Anime/YuGiOh5DS, and had Trisha as Yusei, Diana as Jack, Whirl as Crow, Fubuki as Aki and Yukiji as Carly. Another featured Franchise/SuperSentai costumes, featuring alts such as Trisha as Marvelous, Yukiji as Furabiijo and Diana as Escape.
** One of the earliest alternate costumes was an alt for Fubuki based on Penny Lane from the Series/BigTimeRush movie.

* ActingForTwo: Benedetta Ponticelli voices both Sirius and Yukiji, as for the explanations mentioned above.
* TheOtherDarrin: In his initial release, Prezzemolo was voiced by Giuseppe Calvetti, his original voice actor from the cartoon series which was kept around for the shows on the park for many years. In early 2020 a patch replaced his voice with his current voice actor, Jacopo Calatroni.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen:
** As for the "don't repeat voice actors outside of the Sirius/Yukiji debacle", there was a small issue on the character voiced by Daniele Raffaeli that was going to be featured in the game, with the choice being either Metabee or Kai. Metabee won because he had more options for a moveset.
** The Cheetahmen almost became playable characters. They were discarded due to multiple factors. Also, the main characters from the French cartoon SOS Croco were planned to be introduced as moveset swaps of the Cheetahmen, but they were too different from eachother.

** Lisa is basically a shorter Yukiji with higher speed and shorter range, and her flask special moves have explosive effects instead of inflicting DamageOverTime.
** As said above, Sam began as a slightly bulkier version of Luna before becoming a completely different character.
** As in their origin series, Kuro and Mi are almost mirror copies of eachother: the main difference is that Kuro deals more damage with distance weapons while Mi is mainly a melee fighter.
** Dogtanian is almost a clone of Blackmoon Kirarin, with the main difference being how their counterattack moves behave.

The Ultra Smash Clash franchise is a blatant copycat of VideoGame/SuperSmashBros made by Tropers/PhantomDusclops92 with his own roster of characters. The franchise currently features two games, the original Ultra Smash Clash from 2015 and Ultra Smash Clash Extra, released in 2018.

The roster of playable characters began with a small bunch of characters, formed mostly buy all of the author's personal Ensemble Darkhorses from media (usually one-episode only costume changes of main characters from this or that series), and expanded to whatever he felt it could fit in, but with a single easy rule: Every character must have a different voice actor. The only exception are two of the original cast members, for reasons dictated by their original franchise (where one of them was just the other donning a WigDressAccent), albeit the characters seen here are Phantom Dusclops's own fanon takes that feature them as two completely separate people.
