It all started with a Big Bang. Not the universe, but the story. Every hero has an origin. Some... more complicated than others. In this case, it starts with a chemical factory on the outskirts of a Toronto Suburb. And a botched attempt to steal an experimental drug. In the stand-off between the authorities and the would-be criminals, and series of unlikely circumstances resulted in an explosion that vaporized a large portion of the facilities stock, adding a new flavour to the morning's smog. A public service announcement swore it was non-toxic and harmless, aside from the smell and triggering of asthma attacks. But every cover story is a cover for something. And all a fancy chemical mix really needs is the proper potential to catalyze with to give birth to a metagene, and a story is born.

A group of friends, a future of endless possibilities, filled with strange witches, giant bugs, political twists and turns, and directed by a fate as fickle as a cat.

The Big Bang is a roleplay run using the Mutants and Mastermind D20 system, run online in collaborative pads. Plagued by time zones and metaknowledge, it's still an all around fun time.

!Heroes

-->Played By: Greycat
Previously a student about to graduate, now a anthropomorphic feline recluse trying (badly when you think about it) to hide from society. On the flamboyantly empowered ones in the group, he's also on the not very enthused about it all side of the discussion.

* CatFolk: One of two on the cast actually.
* DeadpanSnarker: Very much so. He's not going to just go along with something without snarking on it.
** His character is played by Greycat. It's to be expected.
* GenreSavvy: He's a reader. He knows things.
* GMPC: Even the Game Master wants to play.
* JerkWithaHeartofGold: He has lots of these moments.
* MyInstinctsAreShowing: He's still getting used to them.
* SuperPoweredEvilSide: Not evil per say, but is Feral. He trashed Erin's new place and dragged her off before being knocked out.
* ThatCameOutWrong: Trevor is somewhat prone to this.
* TheCallKnowsWhereYouLive: Literally. The bugs followed him home
* WithGreatPowerComesGreatInsanity: Without a proper vent for his power build up, he's slowly getting there.

-->Played By: Yellow 13
* BigCreepyCrawlies
* BodyHorror: With her first transformation: Oh so much.
* PainfulTransformation: her first transformation again.
* PutOnABus: Likely for good due to some recent developments.
* Straight Les: Erin is a lesbian. If Marina wasn't there, one might never know.
* TheCallKnowsWhereYouLive: The queen decided Erin's house was awesome real estate.
** Not to mention Feral Trevor

-->Played By: Yellow 13
A socialite by day, a cat burglar by night. She was a thief even before the blast, but with invisibility, cat shifting, resurrection,

* CatGirl: She can turn into one with her Neko form.
* ClassyCatBurglar: Has that vibe.
* FriendlyEnemy: Very much so. She might turn good. Maybe.
* ItAmusedMe: The big reason she became a cat burglar.
* Socialite: Her daylight identity.
* StalkerWithACrush: She found Trevor through the papers, and had a crush on him ever since.

-->Played By: mew77
Daughter of the owners of the local aquarium, turning into water girl first. Has some weird ideas about how to use her powers, and is pretty much stoked about the whole thing.
* ShapeshiftingSquick: Exact details are not safe for work.
* PowerPerversionPotential: Marina morphed into Erin's costume for the convention, and has shown interest in doing it again.
* SlimeGirl: Occasionally. As well as bouncing clay girl.
* MissedTheCall: While some of the others were off fighting bugs, she was at Erin's stuck between forms. Still...

-->Played By: necar
The oldest and most level headed one in the group. While not the smartest, he makes up for it in experience. He used to work at the chemical plant were the Big Bang originated, but with them shut down, he's out of work for now.

* Badass: He has the highest bug kill count and has wielded freezers, boulders and cars for weapons.
* es: Erin and Marina trapped in a room with a powerful psychic? Cue Henry breaking down doors and tossing freezers.
* ChickMagnet: No one knows why. It started with a witch, and now every [=NPC=] since.
* DumbMuscle: With an Int of 8, he's the dumbest of the group, however he makes up for tht with a Str of 20.
* FlyingBrick: Trevor already calls him superman.
* ItsTheOnlyWayToBeSure: He burned Erin's house down. It really was the only way to be sure, but really.
* ThereWasADoor: A common tactic of his.

-->Played By: Blazinvire
An athletic student, Jezelle gained duplication and teleportation. She bunks with Trevor (his parents are out of town for the start of the game) and is out looking for work, but seems ready to take on anything the new world can toss at her. Now, at least.

* CloningBlues: Dealt with this for the first few days, then again with the first clone vanished.
* TeleportSpam" Combined with her legion.

-->Played By: [=Irbynx=]
The second cat on cast, and the youngest in the group. Something of a technophile and a pervert, he hasn't quite pinned down what his powers are.

* CatFolk: Yeah, second one of the cast.
* GenreSavvy: When the hospital was assaulted by siren and her friends and everyone fell asleep, Alex figured out what was the source of danger and managed to make himself earplugs. That wasn't put to a good use, however, as he simply hid in the corner after that.
* PutOnABus: While his player was at camp, Alex got conventionaly injured and had to spend a week in a hospital, visited only by Jezelle, his dad and Trevor.
** TheBusCameBack: After that, when Irbynx returned, Alex went out of the hospital and went on with his Alex stuff.
* KidHero: Alex is 16 years old, got superpowers and already got close to death twice in two weeks.
* WalkingTechBane: Alex possesses a power that can break any piece of electronics, provided he's close enough and can give it a death glare.

-->Played By: Fenix250
A rich kid introduced to the group when Trevor was taken. A bit on the naive side, he's still a good illusionist, so much so that he deceives himself.

* MasterOfIllusion: His main power.
* RichInDollarsPoorInSense: Somewhat. Trevor scammed in out of two hundred dollar to clean up a mess that he made.

!!Drinking Game
Take a sip if

* Someone other then Trevor gets stunned
* Marina expresses a desire to be worn
* If anyone misses an attack
* If anyone fails a skill check
* A laptop is destroyed
* If a Stargate reference is made
* Henry fails a notice check

Take a shot if

* A female character expresses interest in Henry
* Trevor gets stunned
* If anyone fails a save
* Any time Trevor gets punched in the nose
* If Erin’s laptop is destroyed
* Every time Trev does something shady
* If Alex is sitting out on major actions
* Someone gets a good roll AFTER it matters.

Finish your drink if
* Cassandra possesses someone
* Henry burns down another building
* If a supervillian is psychotic
* The group has to fight their own members (Erin, Marina and Trev)
* When a player made villain shows up
* If someone dies, only to find later that they got better
----
!!Funny
* After they finally get through the horror of Marina's power reveal, the cops show up due to (mainly) Erin's constant screaming. Having to think fast, Jezelle run's interference why Trevor hides the puddle that was Marina. Where does he hide her? The washing machine. Then he removes the drain hose. Just in case.
* After the hospital visits incident, the party, split between a hospital room and Trevor's car, were having a speaker phone conversation. Trevor's sneeze introduced him to the complications have snot and fur.
* During their first power training in the forest, after Marina turned into a coat, Trevor's JumpScare ended up with him a CatUpATree.
* The Jezelle clones decided to pass the time by playing a few video games. The fact that they are clones of the same person and share a mind link led to all sorts of laughs.
* Henry and doors do not get along. He's broken three so far.
* For some inexplicable reason, 80% of the female NPC somehow get smitten with Henry. He has the lowest charisma in the cast. Even the Game Master can't explain it. It must be the muscles.
-->Greycat: I swear... I'm not doing this on purpose... It just keeps happening...
* Trevor got fleas. He refused to talk about them.
* Alex has a bit of a mishap when experimenting with his new equipment.
* During the Street Fight battle between some of the [=PCs=] and a horde of bugs, Jezelle and Alex took refuge in a car. The bugs attempted to crash through the windshield after them. Of the three that tried it. Only one survived and only one made it through. They weren't the same bug.
* Erin, one of the offensively weaker party members, managed to break Trevor's nose Dainty Punch!!!
** Of course, Henry eventually got annoyed and just tossed her out the front door and into the building across the road.
* Erin when she found out her house got burned down.
** And her second laptop, the first getting smashed in the Hospital Incident, got destroyed.
* Alex didn't want to go on con, and that was pretty damn in character. Solution?
-->Irbynx: Allright, Alex is not going to con.
-->Greycat: He is getting possessed by ghost. Roll Will.

!!Tropes

* AlienLunch: Trevor's reaction to the bugs that attacked his house? Cook one for breakfast.
* AnticlimaxBoss: Feral Trevor. Oh so much. He lasted about three punches from Henry. Lady Red adverted this though. Granted, she did appear out of nowhere.
* AppliedPhlebotinum: The thing that actually causes metahuman and abnormal powers has yet to be explained in game, but considering the DM's love of this trope, you know it's one.
* AuthorAppeal: Kidnapping and conspiracy theories, two fetishes of the DM.
* AuthorAvatar: At least three of the cast fall in this trope.
* AWizardDidIt: No one really knows what caused the explosion in the first place, and the legal tie up relating to the site...
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Erin is the second worst fighter in the group... Yet she broke Trevor's nose and mercilessly tried beat Trevor and Henry (the second and top fighters) in the group before being taken down.
* ButtMonkey: The Dice gods are fickle. For one; Trevor fails his toughness at the most inopportune times and cannot hit a thing (he missed a tree. Twice.) Erin only seems effective when fighting the wrong people...
** In a recent fight, the Grey said this with his less then steller proformance as a SuperPoweredEvilSide "Yeh... that pretty much did it. Rather anticlimatic for a giant cat when you think about it... All he did was cause a bit of property damage."
* CarFu: Henry likes picking up heavy things.
* DeadpanSnarker: The cast takes turns really. Alex, Jezelle and Trevor do a lot.
* ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin: The GM has a habit of naming the ministories and arcs. Sometimes though, he can be rather uncreative with it. He's commented on it too. "Not everything can get cool names. Sue me."
* GMPC: Is it a game made Greycat? If yes, he has a PC.
* MemeticBadass: Henry, just Henry (his super hero alter ego too.) Of course, when you do things like get shot out of the sky and still get up to rescue people from an exploded building...
* TheMenInBlack: A few who may qualify showed up.
* TheNicknamer: Trevor shortens everyone's name. His nicknaming get's worse when he's grumpy. They all seem to want to give him nicknames back in return though.
* NoHoldsBarredBeatdown: After the gentle approach didn't work with the girls, and vice versa. Happened again when Henry vs Big Guy.
* ShowerScene: One with Trevor after the bug attack, Marina during power experiment, and the Jezelle's had there moment as well.
* SuperRegistrationAct: There is talk of one.
* TemptingFate: The Game Master can and does use anything players mention in his plots. He has no vices against turning player ideas against them.
* WebcomicTime: The story started the same date as the real life starting. Since then, it's fallen behind by a few months.
