In 1982, Frankau was cast in the '''Allo 'Allo!'' {{Pilot}} as Carstairs, one half of a duo of incompetent British airmen trapped behind enemy lines in Nazi-occupied France. Over the next nine years, Frankau and his fellow airman, Creator/JohnDCollins, would don all manner of outlandish costumes throughout the series in their attempts to return home to England. The airmen were PutOnABus off-screen at the beginning of Series 8 but came BackForTheFinale just in time to see the liberation of France.
