* Franchise/Batman was originally called Lynvingen (The Lightning Wing)).

* Anime/SpiritedAway was called Chihiro og heksene (Chihiro and the witches).
* Anime/WhenMarnieWasThere became "Marnie: Min Hemmelige Venninne" (Marnie: My Secret Friend").
* WesternAnimation/TheEmperorsNewGroove was, oddly enough, initially titled Et kongerike for en lama (A Kingdom for a Llama). Later releases of the movie had it retitled Keiserens nye stil, a direct translation of the original title, with the original Richard III-derived title demoted to a small-font subtitle on the cover.
* WesternAnimation/Up is called Se Opp ("Look up"/"Watch out").
* Franchise/WinnieThePooh is "Ole Brumm"
* WesternAnimation/Tangled became "To på Rømmen ("Two on the Run").
* WesternAnimation/KuboAndTheTwoStrings became Kubo and the Magic Instrument.
* WesternAnimation/FindingNemo and WesternAnimation/FindingDory are called "Oppdrag Nemo/Dory" (Mission Nemo/Dory) each respectively.
* WesternAnimation/HomeOnTheRange is changed to Q-Gjengen (The Cow Gang). This is actual a PunBasedTitle, since the Norwegian word for Cow (Ku) and the letter Q is pronounced the same in the Norwegian language.
* WesternAnimation/Zootopia became Zootropolis: Animal Kingdom.

* The Norwegian [=TV2=] is an odd case where they give their own titles to movies that haven't got new titles in Norway. Like while the DVD title of Film/1998 is Foreldre Fellen, a direct translation, does [=TV2=] call it Som To Dråper Vann (Like Two Drops of Water, MarchesOn be damned). They are also quite infamous for their SoBadItsGood BlindIdiotTranslation subtitles with Deep fried (sprøstekt) once being translated (word used very loosely) into dypfryst (frozen solid).
* Film/Airplane is called Hjelp, vi flyr! (Help, we're flying!), which established a trend of translating comedy movies in this way, especially during the eighties. Som examples:
** Film/ThisIsSpinalTap was called Hjelp vi er i popbransjen (Help we're in the Pop Industry)
** Film/NationalLampoonsEuropeanVacation was called Hjelp, vi må på ferie til Europa (Help, we have to go to Europe in our vacation)
** Film/NationalLampoonsChristmasVacation was called Hjelp, det er jul (Help, it's Christmas)
** Subverted in 2011, when two Norwegian films were released with original titles Hjelp, vi er i filmbransjen (Help, we're in the Movie Industry) and Hjelp, vi er russ! (appr. Help, we're graduating), knowing fully well that this was "bad" titles.
* Film/Jaws is called Haisommer (Shark Summer).
** To parody/spoof it was a Norwegian movie called Film/Ulvesommer (Wolf Summer), despite being nothing alike.
* Film/ThePrey was titled Øksemannen (The Axeman) when it was released on video.
* Italian Vendetta dal futuro ("future revenge") used the title Arms of Steel, after the protagonist's defining trait.
* Film/ColdSweat became They Arrived at Night or Revenge, depending on the version.
* Film/ThePit became Death in the Abyss.
* Film/TheWerewolfOfWashington became Werewolf in the White House.
* Film/TwentyTwentyTexasGladiators became One Eye Force.

* Film/InnocentBlood became Bloody Marie.
* Film/BlackChristmas1974 became It's the Killer Who is Calling.
* Film/FailureToLaunch became Mambo. The latter is (or at least was at the time the movie came out) a Norwegian slang expression for a grown man who lives with his mother, which makes sense in the context of the movie. But it's also the name of a dance, something which confused people.
* Film/BlazingSaddles became Wild West.
* Film/AguirreTheWrathOfGod became The Hunt for El Dorado.
* Film/DieHard became Action Skyscraper.

* The Norwegian title of Literature/TheFaultInOurStars is "Fuck fate." No, really. HilariousInHindsight, since WebVideo/HonestTrailers' take on the film gives the film the alternate title Cancer F*cking Sucks.
* The original Swedish title of Creator/SimonaAhrnstedt's debut novel, Literature/Overenskommelser, can be translated into "Agreements" or "Understandings". But the Norwegian title, Frihet og fangenskap, can be translated as "Freedom and captivity".
* The Literature/NancyDrew books have been titled Frøken Detektiv, which literally translated means "Miss Detective." On a few occasions, a character will either call Nancy "Miss Detective" or mention it as a nickname she occasionally goes by ("Pardon me, but are you Nancy Drew, also known as Miss Detective?"), probably to justify the title change.

* While WesternAnimation/FamilyGuy isn't dubbed, its title on the program list usually gets changed into Familien Griffin (The Griffin family).
* WesternAnimation/KingOfTheHill was, amusingly enough, changed to The King of Grills ("Grillkongen"). ("I sell propane and propane accessories.")
