* TheAnnotatedEdition: ''The Complete Library'' has annotations to explain then-relevant pop-culture references and explain who the political figures being caricatured are. Breathed himself pops up from time to time to explain character origins or thought processes, but mostly just to tell us which strips he thinks are his [[SugarWiki/FunnyMoments crowning moments of funny]], which are {{Old Shame}}s, and to make jokes about Garry Trudeau of ''ComicStrip/{{Doonesbury}}''.

In 2015, in anticipation of the 2016 presidential race, Breathed revived the strip as ''Bloom County 2015''. Instead of following the publishing schedule and editorial guidelines of a syndicated comic, he is using [[https://www.facebook.com/berkeleybreathed his Facebook page]] to post new strips.
