(Along with Rook.) When the situation reappears later, Elma tells Lin that this time standing in her way ''will not'' work. She gives Lin two warnings to move out of her way, but she was prepared to fire anyway.

This causes him to feel that no one in New LA is human, thus not "real", and thus not deserving to live. The only exception is Lin, whose innocence he feels is genuine enough, and this later causes him to reevaluate what he feels about the other Mimeosomes as well.]]

During one of his first affinity missions, he leaves Doug to handle an assignment they were supposed to do together, by himself. * BonusBoss: One of the two Ultrafauna. Pharsis is the second strongest, at level 97.
* EldritchAbomination: Yggraliths are from the very depths of outer space and feed off all the ether in whatever region they settle in, as well as any other creatures they may run into before moving on to the next. It is also said that if two Yggraliths were to come into contact with each other, the resulting battle would destroy any nearby planets. Thankfully, it and the only other two Yggraliths in the game, Phanatos, the Netherlord and the raid boss Yggralith Zero, don't ever meet.
* GravityMaster: A large number of its attacks are gravity-elemental.
* NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast: Aside from the names individual specimens are given, "Yggr" is the Old Norse word for "terrible", and Yggraliths destroy worlds.
* PlanetEater: According to the Enemy Index, Yggraliths are interstellar creatures that land on planets, suck all the Ether up while also literally eating the native fauna, then leave the planet a dead husk and move on to the next.

* CastFromHitPoints: One of his signature arts is Essence Exchange, which allows a photon saber-using Rook to swap his/her current HP with his/her current TP. But it's ultimately zig-zagged in that while on one side, you can use it [[DeathOrGloryAttack to gain a full Tension bar at the price of your character nearing death]], you can also use it [[HeroicSecondWind to trade off a full TP bar for some healing, restoring your HP]], and you can ''also'' use it outside of battle, where you will fully recover HP in seconds, making the trade meaningless.

* UniqueEnemy: The only Millesaur to be missing its head by default. Unique enough that there is a hologram figure of Gradivus in addition to standard Millesaurs.

* AdaptationalBadass: In the previous game, while Telethia were dangerous, they were recurring enemies, could be killed pretty quickly (the highest-leveled Telethia in that game is within that game's player level cap) and have their mind-reading abilities impaired by Monado Purge. In this game, the sole Telethia (aside from the Telethia Plume raid boss) is not only the guardian of Mira, larger than any of the Telethia from the previous game, and able to kill three Tainted Sphinxes with little effort (for reference, you fight just one Sphinx as a boss prior to this moment), it is the most powerful [[BonusBoss superboss]] in the game at level 99 (39 levels past the player's level cap). And there's no Monado to help you impair its mind-reading abilities this time.
* AdaptationalHeroism: In the previous game, Telethia were violent creatures that would kill anything they saw. Here, the lone Telethia is more of a benevolent guardian deity, protecting even foreign life that settles in on Mira. Interesting, it's technically still fulfilling the same role as in {{VideoGame/XenobladeChronicles}}; it's just that the definition of "impure life" is a lot narrower here than it was there.

* PurelyAestheticGlasses: One of his siblings claims that he wears glasses not because his vision is actually poor but because he seeks to emulate his father. Unfortunately, Tatsu's sense of fashion is way off, so he just looks like a dweeb.

* LaserBlade: Wields a long green one in combat.

* BladeOnAStick: She wields a laser naginata.

* JoinOrDie: The Ganglion attempt to force them to join them. Thankfully Rook and the others were there to fight back.

A frail and logical insectoid race who produce weapons in service to the Ganglion. Their numbers have fallen from over 20 billion to the five individuals on Mira. Driven by a sixth sense they call the "Ovah" they have determined that the humans are two percent more likely to defeat the Ganglion than vice versa, and want to be on the winning side.

* BizarreSexualDimorphism: Female Orphe are physically identified by their red chitin.

* CharacterTitle: One of the ways Japanese media pronounces "X" is "cross". Hence, the player character's default name. Though the game's title has always been pronounced 'Ex' in each of the trailers.

* LikesOlderMen: Revealed in her post fight banter with [[spoiler: Doug]], even though he's 11 years older than she is. Though he fails to take the hint:

* HelloInsertNameHere: You can name your own character, although the default name is Cross in Japanese. In the English versions, after a little while, your teammates will give you the nickname "Rook" and will refer to you as that in voiced cutscenes.

* SecondaryCharacterTitle: The Japanese name for the game is read as "Xenoblade Cross", and the default name for the character is Cross. The game is played from Rook's point of view as they join Elma's team.

* FightingForAHomeland: After being displaced and crashing on Mira, they intend to make Mira their new home. Although a few characters such as Lin and Boze expresses hope that they'll return to Earth.
