The possibility that they could be ''killed'' isn't seriously considered even briefly until she manages to do it.[[/note]] As of Episode 35, she's [[spoiler: ''raising a child militia'' and seems to be a brutal leader at that. She's also wearing a librarian's hand around her neck. Oh, and that militia? She's forming it to take on ''[=StrexCorp=]!'']] She also taught herself how to fly yellow helicopters. In season 5, she somehow manages to bully the City Council [[spoiler: into letting her be a city councillor]], despite City Council being [[EldritchAbomination what it is]] - and unlike [[spoiler: the rest of]] City Council she does ''not'' bail out when things get tough.

* OmnidisciplinaryScientist: Almost to the point where it's {{parodied}}, in deliberately depicting science as being a single, monolithic[[BuffySpeak ... thing]]. To date, Carlos has mentioned work that touches on theoretical and applied physics, mechanical and electrical engineering, organic and inorganic chemistry, plant/animal/microbial biology, ecology, medicine, geology, and seismology. Fans usually attribute this either to Carlos being only one member of a team of scientists from different disciplines who help each other with their research projects (Episode 30 confirms that there ''are'' still other members of Carlos' team in Night Vale with him), or to simply having to develop skills outside his original field of study as the only person in Night Vale who can think in a straight line.
** But Carlos does NOT specialize in botany. Or dendrology. He is a scientist.
** In the ''Night Vale'' / ''Podcast/TheThrillingAdventureHour'' crossover, Carlos even finds it strange that a scientist would be limited to just ''one'' field of study. When asked what his is, he simply replies "Science."

* NamedAfterSomebodyFamous: {{Averted}}. Possibly. Probably a bit of NamesTheSame, since he shares a name with another actor named Creator/LeeMarvin, but the actual Lee Marvin was born in February of 1924, and Night Vale's Lee Marvin goes back before that indefinitely. They did, however, act in many of the same movies.

* HotScientist: According to Cecil (and Old Woman Josie), at least. Carlos' physical appearance is discussed in much more detail than most other characters, but often in such flowery prose that it's hard to discern concrete details. We know for certain that he has black hair with a premature touch of grey at the temples, dark skin, straight white teeth, and a square jaw.

* AnAxeToGrind: Her weapons of choice are a litany of hatchets.
