* HateSink: Insanely self-centered and sociopathic, Eva only exists to cause as much unneeded trouble within Camp Big Falcon as she possibly can, and never displays shows any kind of redeemable quality.

* RedHerring: She is accused of being a spy by Jamie Robinson after seemingly stealing classified blueprints of Camp Big Falcon without authorization. [[spoiler: However, it turns out that she took them under Dr. Smith's orders and she mocks Jamie for the false accusation]].

* TokenEvilTeammate: Of the Camp Big Falcon crew. Eva is the known amoral character who is solely motivated by her own ego than protecting the world from the Boazanian invasion.

* ItsAllAboutMe: Eva only cares for her own self-gratification and quickly lashes out at anything that doesn't go her way; from being disqualified from the training program to Jaime getting romantically involved with Steve.
* KnowWhenToFoldEm: After General Robinson declares retribution to the one who plotted Jamie's death if caught in the act, she keeps her head down and accustoms herself as member of MissionControl.[[note]][[spoiler: With the death of the general, she resumes her schemes now that he is gone]].[[/note]]

* AdaptationalBackstoryChange: In the original anime, Hamaguchi forced Ippei to join the Voltes team by kidnapping him from the United States of America, while also disapproving of him keeping his horse around as he "had no need for it". In ''Legacy'', Mark joins Big Falcon consensually and still has his horse.

** Throughout ''Voltes V'''s earlier episodes, Kenichi had a habit of bringing out his gun in response to any conflict. He once pulled out the gun on [[CrossesTheLineTwice his own ten year old brother]][[invoked]] because he had the audacity to bring his RobotBuddy with the Team on a mission. When Hiyoshi cried and begged him to spare Tako, Kenichi gave him the gun and told him to shoot it instead. Fortunately, later episodes had Kenichi go through CharacterDevelopment and become a more empathetic person. Here, Steve doesn't do any of that.

** The Voltes team don't make (the arguably sexist) comments about how Megumi should "play with dolls" and laugh at her while she's injured.

Voltes Team's defense and hand-to-hand combat expert, piloting the Volt Panzer that forms the robot's body and torso. Despite his big stature, Big Bert is actually the second son of Doctor Mary Ann Armstrong-Collins and the third son of Doctor Ned Armstrong/Baron Hrothgar. Formerly a playful boy, the disappearance of his father changed him, and afterwards, he was sent by his mother to live among monks for a while to learn many forms of martial arts. When he returned, he's already mastered many fighting styles, with his favorite weapon being the naginata and [[MartialArtsStaff bo staff]]. Like his brothers, he further trained himself to eventually engage in the battle for humanity against the Boazanians.

Daughter of General Robinson of the Earth Defense Force, as well as the pilot of Volt Lander, forming the feet of Voltes V. Jamie has trained in the arts of ninjutsu since childhood. She's also learned gentleness from her mother, which tends to translate to trying to mediate for the team, especially when Steve is being too hard-ass for his own good and either overly scolds Little Jon or gets into an argument with Mark. Since her father is a commander of the Earth Defense Force and co-designed Voltes V itself, Jamie is also trained to take her place amongst the Voltes Team and to fight against the Boazanians and protect mankind.

OCTO-1 is Little Jon's highly-advanced robot octopus, his most prized invention. Little Jon considers OCTO-1 to be the sixth member of the Voltes V team.

* AttentionWhore: Eva wants to be part of the Voltes team not because she wants to save innocent lives, but because it will fuel her ego.

* HeroAcademy: Camp Big Falcon holds the Voltes Team training program where several selected candidates would undergo various TrainingFromHell tests and only five will make the cut as Voltes V's pilots. However, when the Boazanian invasion happened, only Steve and Big Bert Armstrongs, Mark Gordon and Jamie Robinson are present in the base while Eva Sanchez, Ally Chan, Tomas del Rosario and PJ Santiago were on a day off in the mainland after sneaking out. This results in Little Jon filling in the vacant fifth spot in the Voltes Team and General Robinson disqualifying Eva and her fellow candidates from the training program.

* InterspeciesRomance: He falls in love with [[spoiler: Judy, the hornless Boazanian spy, and enjoys spending time with her to the point he resigns from the Voltes Team to be with her. Sadly, this ship is sunk after discovering her real reason for wanting to see Camp Big Falcon]]. Although he wants to find Judy, [[spoiler: he is heartbroken after Steve claims that the Boazanians took her away for treason (in reality, Judy went into hiding) and he can never see her again]].

The team leader of Voltes Team and piloting the Volt Crewzer, forming the robot's head, and the eldest child of the Armstrong family. As a child, Steve used to be an adventurous youth, but after the departure of his father, he changed his attitude into that of a responsible big brother for his siblings. He grows up into a motocross champion while being an excellent marksman, but heeding his father's last words, he knows his destiny is to lead his siblings and teammates to protect Earth from the invasion of the Boazanians.

* AccidentalPublicConfession: [[spoiler: He unwittingly reveals to Judy, a hornless Boazanian spy, who holds Big Bert's cellphone that the Voltes V pilots she was looking for happens to be her boyfriend and his teammates whom she met from the brief tour at Camp Big Falcon as he tries to appeal with Big Bert to come back. Fortunately for him, Judy chose not to tell Zardoz about it and gave out random names from the radio she heard instead.]]

* RedIsHeroic: His suit is colored red, which reflects his position in the Voltes Team as well as being the big brother of the Armstrong siblings.

The young genius and mechanic of the Voltes Team, piloting the Volt Frigate, which forms the legs of Voltes V. The youngest of the Armstrong siblings, to his brothers, he'd always be the child who never felt the warmth and love of a real father. Despite his hurdles however, he's gifted with a brilliant mind, and keen eyes for gadgetries. Little Jon became part of the team because the other three candidates besides Steve, Mark, Big Bert, and Jamie were off-base against orders when the Boazanians began their attack, and there was no time to wait for them to return, leaving one empty spot that he ends up filling.

* EntitledToHaveYou: As Mark's unrequited feelings towards Jamie grows more toxic, he resorts to emotional manipulation to try and keep her and Steve apart, first by using the "pity me" card on Steve by claiming that he needs Jamie more because she's likely one of the few women out there who can stand to be with a socially inept guy like him, and then trying to convince Jamie to give up on Steve by because Steve is "more into Eva" even though Mark knows deep down that he's lying. In the end, it finally sinks in to Mark that all Jamie ever felt for him was pity and concern, and it was his own fault for warping her affections as a sign of romance.
