* HeroicHost: She was a handicapped young woman who went on to become the protector and Queen of Wakanda.

* ScaryTeeth: He has a JaggedMouth with a huge underbite when his mouth is open, and is drawn without teeth on the side of his mouth, making him look strange even compared to other versions of the character.

* BigBad: As Poison Doctor Doom, he is the leader of the Poisons and is following the "Gospel of the Spawning", which prophesies that the Poisons will consume all the incarnations of Venom in the Multiverse. [[spoiler:But then the final issue reveals that he's nothing but the servant of a GreaterScopeVillain, specifically a Poison ComicBook/{{Thanos}}]].

* HijackingCthulhu: Doom maintains that he has done this to the Venom symbiote, but the symbiote disagrees. When it asks why he resists it, Doom replies that he does so out of principle and because he refuses to be a puppet to satiate its bloodlust. When the symbiote tries to take over him, he enslaves it. Whether he was able to do the same to the Poison that consumed him is another question.
* ISurrenderSuckers: While it's unclear if Doom's offer of a peace treaty is genuine, the symbiote wants him to use this to blindside the Avengers.

* TheAssimilator: They can consume and absorb symbiotes to become more powerful, and for this reason they are traversing the multiverse targeting incarnations of Venom.

* EvilCounterpart: The Poisons are the polar opposites of the Klyntar symbiotes, which they feed upon to become more powerful. The one similarity is that they require hosts and mimic the appearance of their costumes.

* GrandTheftMe: The Poisons pull this on both the symbiotes and the hosts they consume, causing them to cease as individuals while assimilating their memories.

* SoulEating: Poison Host Rider existed only briefly, but a Poison being able to assimilate Host Rider at all indicates that they're somehow able to consume or at least suppress metaphysical entities like Eli Morrow's demonic ghost.

* TouchOfDeath: In their base forms, if they so much as touch a symbiote they will bond to it and consume it.

* BackForTheFinale: He's [=MIA=] for a while after being blown up by Rocket, but then reappears for the final battle... where he's he blown up by Rocket again.

* OverlyLongTongue: He has a three tongues made of symbiote biomass that are always hanging out of his mouth.

* TalkingToThemself: The symbiote communicates to Laura via thoughts and impulses, but Laura talks back to it out loud, confusing and alarming the street kids who she is trying to dissuade it from eating.
* ToServeMan: The symbiote suggests eating the homeless kids who wander into her lair — especially Kiden, who it finds annoying — though Laura refuses and tries to intimidate them into leaving instead.

* OutsideContextProblem: None of the Poisons besides Doom were aware of the existence of other symbiotes besides the Venom one, so they freak out a bit when confronted by one who is stronger and faster, has more powers, and is seemingly unaffected by their TouchOfDeath.

* YouAreInCommandNow: After Captain Venom is captured, Logan Venom takes over the Resistance. However, Venompool derides his leadership and ultimately defects to what he thinks is the winning team.

* AlwaysABiggerFish: Carnage was summoned to invoke this on the part of the Poisons. He won't care about their illusions, be able to attack the host-less Poisons without risking being consumed by using [[FlechetteStorm symbiote projectiles]], and his greater strength lets him slash through the Poisons' crystalline exoskeletons with ease.

* AlienBlood: Captain Venom smashes in the head of a Poison about to attack Eddie, showing they have green blood.
