* BoobsOfSteel: Minerva's easily got one of the largest bust sizes among the Federation forces and she's also incredibly deadly on the battlefield. She's unkillable as a boss in Chapter 5 and while that status get slighly nerfed by the time she becomes playable, she'll still easily outclass your other scouts and be a contender for best unit in your army.

* FaceHeelTurn: [[spoiler:Subverted. When Claude decides against setting off the bomb, Minerva shows up and holds him at gunpoint, deciding that she'll do it herself if he's too afraid to bear the burden. Claude is able to talk her down, but considering the resentment and animosity Minerva has spent the game exhibiting towards him, it could have gone the other way.]]

* LadyMacbeth: Unlike Riley, Minerva does ''not'' [[spoiler:accept Claude's decision to stand down and not set off the bomb, believing that bombing the capital is clearly right thing to do here. And when it's clear she can't change his mind, she takes out her gun and decides to do it herself...]]

* UnknownRival: She is ''fiercely'' competitive with Claude because he always performed better at the academy. Claude, for his part, is mostly exasperated at her attitude.

to:

* SixthRanger: As a squad member at least; she only joins you as a playable unit after her own squad is destroyed a ways into the game. From that point on, she's treated as a core squad member.

* UncertainDoom: The game's default ending implies that she dies from a combination of blood loss (from being shot by Nikola) and smoke inhalation due the fire in the Centurion's engine room. It remains only an implication, since she's not listed as a casualty in the Cenotaph and remains fully playable in the Squad E roster at all times.

* UnknownRival: Due to his pride, Ronald holds a very serious one-sided rivalry with Squad E, such that he would always try to one-up them when on a mission, resulting in him being less careful and accurate with his shots. Squad E members don't even acknowledge him for the most part.

Removed natter from the Skewed Priorities example in Claude's section. He wasn't in shock when he found out Kai betrayed them. He and Riley literally laughed it off and said it didn't matter, then simply let it drop without even asking how or why Kai did it.

* SkewedPriorities: For all his alleged brilliance, the reasoning behind some of Claude's decisions seems skewed. Such as when he "rehabilitates" Emmy, Viola, and Simon for insubordinate behavior by putting them through mock combat against other members of the Ranger Corps., which nearly got all three of them killed or fired. Yet, he saw no problem with [[spoiler: Kai betraying them]] and let it slide [[EasilyForgiven without any disciplinary action]] and [[ProtagonistCenteredMorality no questions asked.]] Perhaps it's due to the shock, especially since by this point nothing makes sense anymore.

* GlassCannon: Not Ronald specifically, but Glory, as it is a light tank going up against the Empire's best. Getting shot by enemy tanks is a bad idea, but enemy infantry without lances should not try to attack Glory head on or attempt to run around it, as they will easily get killed by its coaxial machine gun.

** A squad is typically led by an NCOIC (Non-Commissioned Officer In Charge), like Raz or Kai, while Claude holds command over all squads due to his rank. Incidentally, both Claude and Welkin share the same rank of 2nd Lieutenant, which makes him qualified to be a Platoon Commander by American standards.

Squad E is a unit in the Edinburgh Army composed primarily of foreigners from Gallia volunteering to fight the Empire. Lead by Claude Wallace, the unit had many notable accomplishments during Operation Northern Cross. After the events of Chapter 5, Squad E also consists of several officer-ranked members of Squad F.

!Squad E in General

Part of the esteemed Ranger Battalion of the Edinburgh Army and the primary viewpoint characters of the game. Lead by Lieutenant Claude Wallace, the group gained early notoriety by enrolling and later passing the ranger course together as a unit. Since then they have gained a reputation for completing dangerous and even "impossible" missions. Their motto is "It will be done".
----
* BadassCrew: The Ranger Corp is famous for this in general and Squad E is well-known even among them.
* BunnyEarsLawyer: Many of the members of Squad E are... unusual to say the least. Nevertheless, the always get the job done. They are objectively more powerful than most of the enemies they encounter.
* ChildSoldiers: Much like the Militia form the first game, there's quite a few members of Squad E who are no older than sixteen. When one considers the timeline, this means that they completed the [[TrainingFromHell Ranger Course]] when they were no older than ''[[ImprobableAge fourteen.]]''
* DysfunctionJunction: Most of them have tragic and/or complicated backstories, which is lampshaded by Stanley in his Squad Story.
* ElitesAreMoreGlamorous: The Squad are Ranger-trained soldiers with the EA.
* {{Expy}}: They are clearly based on the real life 101st Airborne Division’s “Easy Company”. Squad E is even nicknamed “Easy Platoon” and they belong to the Federation’s 101st Edinburgh Division.
** At one point the squad is ordered to HoldTheLine against an enemy counteroffensive in the middle of winter in order to buy time for the rest of the army to regroup. They soon end up surrounded and behind enemy lines in a desperate LastStand. This is similar to the role the 101st played during the Battle of the Bulge, when they were ordered to hold the town of Bastogne and stall the German advance for as long as possible.
* FourTemperamentEnsemble: The main characters fit this dynamic. Claude is melancholic, Riley is choleric, Raz is sanguine, and Kai is phlegmatic.
* ItHasBeenAnHonor: Each of the squad members has a variation of this line [[spoiler: when picked to be Raz's partner in his suicide mission, knowing they're going to die with him.]]
* MildlyMilitary: As with the first game's units, your soldiers tend to wear accessories with their uniform that complement their personalities and make them stand out a little (a "believable lie" as described by character designer Raita).
* MultinationalTeam: Squad E is comprised of soldiers from multiple different countries, including many Gallians.
* OnlySaneMan: The groups of three friends in the Squad Stories often play out like this. One example is a trio with someone who pretends to be a Norse god, a girl who is convinced she is a harbinger of doom, and... a guy who's pretty friendly. Or a man from fantasy America ("Vinland") who cracks awful jokes more than half the time he opens his mouth, a girl who has worn an iron mask for almost her entire life, and... a woman who is caring and very strong.
* SecretKeeper: [[spoiler:Everyone (except when Riley arrived) kept the secret that the Kai in their unit is a girl and not Kai the man. Only Claude and Raz knew that Kai left the Rangers for another reason.]]
* SoleSurvivor: [[spoiler:The only Ranger squad to avoid debilitating losses after Operation Northern Cross fell apart.]]
* TragicKeepsake: All of the non-officer squaddies [[spoiler:and Raz]] will leave behind an item of personal importance when they are killed in action. These items could be equipped like standard accessories and will bestow stat bonuses onto their wearers. [[spoiler:If they are revived in the post-game, nothing's stopping you from equipping said items onto their owners.]]
* TrueCompanions: For all the conflicting personalities and histories of its members, one of Squad E's greatest strengths is their ability to work together as a unit and achieve their goals.
* YouALLLookFamiliar: Partially Zig-Zagged - Each class shares the same body model/shape, but have very unique heads, all except for the main characters.

!!!'''Voiced by:''' Ryosuke Kanemoto (Japanese), Creator/MaxMittelman (English)
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/vc4_claude_wallace.png]]

The commanding officer of Squad E. He commands a battle tank, the Hafen, in combat.
----
* TheAce: Claude excels at virtually everything and graduated from the academy with top honors; Minerva, one of his biggest rivals, admits it herself when she calls him "the Ace of the Armored Ranger Battalion." His exploits as a commander have gained him even further recognition, eventually earning him a promotion as Captain of his division and [[spoiler: placed in charge of leading Operation "Cygnus"]].
* AccidentalPervert: When Riley comments on the commotion between Raz and Kai, Claude comes out from underneath the Hafen to witness it... and accidentally looks up Riley's skirt. Though he didn't mean to, she nevertheless stomps him on the face in retaliation.
* AsskickingEqualsAuthority: Starts the game as a Lieutenant but gets promoted to Captain after [[spoiler: leading his squad over the mountains and meeting with the Cygnus fleet.]]
* BornWinner: From Minerva's perspective, which infuriates her to no end because he's consistently scored higher marks and has earned greater distinction, despite all her efforts to [[CantCatchUp even try]] competing with him.
* CantDropTheHero: Unless specified at the start of a mission, if Claude is available, then he is always locked as a mandatory squad member. This means he cannot be unselected when deploying units, nor can he exchange places with another member. This holds true even in skirmishes.
* TheComputerIsACheatingBastard: The ''"Price of a Picnic"'' DLC chapter concludes with a mock combat mission against Claude and the lieutenants of Squad E. While under the AI's control, Claude can use the Rapid Deployment order to resurrect [[DeathIsCheap any and all of them at once]] for only 3 CP. Yet when he's under ''your'' control, Rapid Deployment only allows you to summon 1 reserve member at a time at a cost of 1 CP apiece. It doesn't revive fallen teammates.
* DoubleStandard: Twice during separate squad stories, Claude disciplines various teammates for insubordinate action, usually by putting them through mock combat against overwhelming odds. Yet, he gives Raz a free pass twice for the exact same offense (during the ''"Other Kai"'' interlude and again at the end of ''"Breaking the Line 3"'') and grants [[spoiler: Kai]] the same favor, [[EasilyForgiven despite betraying them.]] It would seem insubordination is only permissible so long as you're one of his friends or if the situation is already so bad that punishing you in the standard manner is no longer an option.
* EarnYourHappyEnding: Literally. The only way to save Riley is by replaying the final mission of chapter 18 on Hard Mode, which unlocks the game's true ending. Otherwise, Riley dies as a result of her injuries while trying to save Angie.
* EmbarrassingNickname: Because he is occasionally viewed as a coward by his friends and allies alike, he is as such nicknamed "Scaredy-Claude". All this despite the fact that even by the time the game starts, he's certainly no coward. He's never as brave/foolish as many others in his squad though, most notably Raz.
* EveryoneLovesBlondes: He certainly does, having been in love with Riley since childhood and still carrying a torch for her even as an adult.
* FaceDeathWithDignity: [[spoiler: With no hope of escaping a sinking Centurion, Claude was prepared to accept his fate and go down with Centurion, alongside Riley, Miles, Angie, and Hafen. One of Centurion's gun deck plates, however, conveniently breaks off and stations itself on land at the last minute, which Miles immediately drives down to and gets his comrades out of harm's way, escaping their demise.]]
* HappilyMarried: Unlocking the game's true ending reveals the final part of his and Riley's personnel files, which says [[spoiler: he proposed after the war during the Starchild Festival. Riley accepted with a light nod]].
* TheLeader: He's the commanding officer of Squad E.
* LivingEmotionalCrutch: It's very clear if not for his friends, Claude would've crossed the DespairEventHorizon thanks to the war. Even more so when it comes to Riley. In the game, after pulling off a particularly difficult mission, Claude admits that he could keep on fighting because he knows Riley is there for him.
* MyGreatestFailure: Stopping Riley from entering the burning Miller Company factory to save her family in their youth. This left him an EmptyShell until a fight with Raz snapped him out of it a few years before the game, and it drives him to prove to his childhood friends, especially Riley, that he has changed for the better.
* MySignificanceSenseIsTingling: He has a habit of commenting on the wind any time he senses incoming danger.
* ReluctantHero: Thanks to his tactical genius, Claude eventually become a military hero to the crew of ''Centurion'' and the army as a whole. He is very unhappy with this, as being hero meant that the military will gives him the most difficult mission, many that are often at odds with his own sense of morality. [[spoiler:Like detonating a nuke in one of the largest cities in the world. Ouch.]]
* RequiredPartyMember: Claude is in almost every mission. If the Hafen is unavailable, Claude will fight as a scout.
* RevengeBeforeReason: He briefly throws a fit when he is informed that the Empire has announced a ceasefire, frustrated that he has lost his chance to take them down once and for all. He quickly gets out of it, however, after Riley consoles him.
* SkewedPriorities: For all his alleged brilliance, the reasoning behind some of Claude's decisions seems skewed. Such as when he "rehabilitates" Emmy, Viola, and Simon for insubordinate behavior by putting them through mock combat against the Ranger Corp., which nearly got all three of them killed. Yet, he saw no problem with [[spoiler: Kai betraying them]] and let it slide [[EasilyForgiven without any disciplinary action]] and [[ProtagonistCenteredMorality no questions asked.]]
* UniqueProtagonistAsset: His "Wind Talk" ability. With it he is able to predict changes in the weather with almost perfect accuracy. This gives him the edge in many military maneuvers and is part of Squad E's success.

!!Riley Miller
!!!'''Voiced by:''' Creator/NaoTouyama (Japanese), Creator/KayliMills (English)
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/vc4_riley_miller.png]]

An inventor who specialises in ragnite technology, and a childhood friend of Claude's.
----
* TheAtoner: [[spoiler:Why she is so hellbent on saving Angie during the final parts of the story, since she is fully aware of how completing her father's research and handed it over to Vinland indirectly contributed to her suffering as Valkyria test subject.]]
* BunnyEarsLawyer: Riley has a real talent for explosives. She just likes them ''too much''.
** Part of her ''military'' uniform ''comes'' with a short, hemmed skirt. The reason she gets away with it? Since her role in the army as an on-duty scientist is pretty much unique to her, she got to design her own uniform ''herself''. The girl really likes her skirts.
* ChangedMyMindKid: Upon realizing Claude is leading Squad E, she is not happy with this at first to the point of attempting to request a transfer to a different squad. Along with that, she considered abandoning him when the enemy has overwhelmed the base. Fortunately, she never made her retreat and stayed until he completed his mission without running away, albeit unseen. Along with that, she cancelled her request for a transfer.
* ConvenientlyAnOrphan: She lost her entire immediate family to a fire, which was started up by the Empire, that ignited the Miller Company.
* DefrostingIceQueen: The ice part only really lasts for one mission, but Riley is initially ''not'' happy to see Claude again due to holding him partly responsible for the deaths of her family in the Miller Company fire.
* EarnYourHappyEnding: The game's default ending implies that she dies from a combination of blood loss (from being shot by Nikola) and smoke inhalation due the fire in the Centurion's engine room. You have to unlock the game's true ending in order to save her.
* GeniusDitz: Riley is very intelligent, but also occasionally ditzy. For example,[[spoiler: when she met the REAL Kai inside the ''Centurion'', she thought Kai was TheMole working on behalf of the Federation. Even Kai was amused.]] There's also the "onsen incident". Maybe being [[DumbBlonde blonde]] has something to do with it?
* HairDecorations: She's never seen without a black headband with small wings on it, perked up like little horns.
* HappilyMarried: It's said that Claude proposed to her after the war, during the Starchild Festival. Riley smiles and nods her consent.
* IChooseToStay: When Claude has proven to have changed by staying behind to detonate her explosives, Riley cancelled her request for a transfer to continue on supporting him and Squad E.
* LockedOutOfTheLoop: Sure she knows that Kai is actually [[spoiler:Leena]], but she isn't informed that [[spoiler:the REAL Kai left the Rangers for another reason]].
* LuminescentBlush: Exaggerated. A stark naked Riley confronts a number of Imperial soldiers who talked smack about females who are involved in war, not realising that she's wearing absolutely nothing at first. When she does see she's wearing nothing, her ''entire body'' blushes red, and she screams in embarrassment.
* ParentalSubstitute: Riley assumes this role after finding Angie inside the ''Centurion'', with a little bit of CoolBigSis mixed in. In fact [[spoiler: it was the kind treatment by Riley and to a lesser extent, all the crew of the ''Centurion'' that gives Angie the motivation and courage to re-assume her role as the ship's living battery.]]
* PercussiveMaintenance: Gives one when the Centurion's backup engine refuses to start up even after it is fixed, although it takes several tries and a final hard whack before it works. Apparently, she got this from her father since he used to do the same.
* PervertRevengeMode: Even though Claude didn't mean to look up her skirt when he stopped working on Hafen for a bit to witness the commotion between Raz and Kai, Riley nevertheless stomps on his face.
* TwirlOfLove: Claude does this to her [[spoiler:during the true ending.]]
* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: [[spoiler:If she hadn't finished her father's research on ragnite implosion and handed it over to Vinland, the whole Vinland Valkyria project might not have happened and Kai wouldn't have defected. However it might have meant that the Federation would have lost the war, given that in the end the only thing that drove the Empire to negotiation table is the threat of Valkyria Bombs.]]
* WhatTheHellHero: Given to her by André of all people when she tries to whack the Centurion's machinery with a wrench. Subverted since what she does finally ''works'' anyway.
--> '''André''': "What kinda engineer hits their own machine?"
* WhatYouAreInTheDark: Due to the enemy overwhelming them, as well as seeing him partly responsible for the loss of her family, she considered leaving Claude behind for dead. [[ConscienceMakesYouGoBack It's a good thing she didn't]].
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes:
** She developed pyrophobia ever since an incident which took her immediate family's lives.
** In a more PlayedForLaughs case, she is apparently afraid of ghosts after mistaking Raz for one during a mess hall event.
* ZettaiRyouiki: Her thigh highs go above her knees and beyond, to the point that there's no bare skin exposed between them and her skirt.

[[folder:Raz]]
!!Raz
!!!'''Voiced by:''' Creator/KazuyaNakai (Japanese), Creator/GregChun (English)
[[quoteright:339:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/vc4_raz.png]]

A hot-headed, foul-mouthed Darcsen who claims to be invincible due to his superior physical ability. He is one of Claude's childhood friends.
----
* AnguishedDeclarationOfLove [[spoiler:He's always had a crush on Leena and he ends up confessing this way after she tells him she's been leaking the Centurion's coordinates to the Empire.]]
* BelligerentSexualTension: He has this in droves with Kai. Raz clearly has a crush on Kai, and she herself has hints of reciprocating his feelings, but because of his crudeness and her own {{Tsundere}} tendencies, he typically becomes her punching bag instead. [[spoiler:Becomes UnresolvedSexualTension when he pulls a HeroicSacrifice near the end of the story.]]
* BigDamnHeroes: Played completely straight, and he even gets a potential called Big Damn Hero during the mission where he saves the day. Not only does he volunteer for the suicide mission (being the most skilled shocktrooper canonically), but he basically orders Claude into ordering him to do it.
* BuxomIsBetter: Openly admitted when he, Claude, and Riley catch [[spoiler: Minerva]] in the act of trying on a string bikini. The moment Raz sees the sheer size of her boobs, he does a fist pump and shouts:
-->'''Raz''': ''(grins and fist pumps)'' "YES! So HUUUUUGEE!!"
* CantActPervertedTowardALoveInterest: Averted, if the way he teases Kai is anything to go by.
* CasanovaWannabe: He's always going on about T&A during R&R. Obviously, people think he's a pervert for it.
* ClusterFBomb: Is in possession of a fairly vulgar mouth, especially when compared to other members of Squad E.
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: The [[NeverLiveItDown infamous]] scene were he grabs Kai's butt, it cements just how much of a boisterous [[{{Pun}} ass]] he can really be.
* GetAHoldOfYourselfMan: Doing this to Claude and igniting a fistfight between the two snapped the latter out of his childhood's guilt-ridden misery.
* GoOutWithASmile: [[spoiler:He spends his final moments after disabling the ragnite-powered generator with nothing but positive expressions on his face. Claude, Riley, and Kai don't receive the news of his death well at all.]]
* GoofyPrintUnderwear: Goofy print ''swimming trunks'', to be exact, during the BeachEpisode. And it's an inverted case, as while everybody thinks his trunks look gaudy and tacky ("douchey" as Kai puts it), Raz himself finds the pattern to be awesome.
* HairTriggerTemper: Unless you want to get into a fistfight (especially over petty issues), setting him off is a very bad idea. Oddly he is not usually shown winning or losing, despite being easily one of the strongest members of Squad E.
* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler:He (along with one other squadmate of the player's choosing) volunteers to disable the generator powering the barriers blocking Centurion from progressing to Schwartzgrad with ragnite; he succeeds, but at the cost of his own (and his partner's) life.]]
* InformedAbility: During the ''"Other Kai"'' interlude, Raz is said to excell at CQC and is the best in their division. Yet, the player never gets to see it for themselves. The closest Raz comes to being involved in a fist fight is when Kai lays him out [[SingleStrokeBattle with one punch.]] It is best explained that fist-fighting or any form of martial arts would make programming the game mechanics a complete nightmare. This trope is partially subverted by his potential "melee skill", which effectively makes it harder for his targets to dodge when he's shooting up close.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Foul-mouthed and ill-tempered as he may be, he legitimately cares for the wellbeing of his friends and comrades alike.
* KnifeNut: Has a combat knife strapped on his web gear that has a knuckle guard built into the grip. Said knife is not usable in-game.
* LeeroyJenkins: He has no problem charging ahead by his lonesome to take out a large number of enemies at once. This habit of his proves paramount in the operation where he, along with one other squadmate of the player's choosing, volunteers to disable the generator powering the barriers blocking Centurion from progressing to Schwartzgrad with ragnite, [[spoiler:which he succeeds at, but not without costing him his own life]]. Notably, his claim of being "Invincible" has a lot to back it up - he has a trait named Invincible which makes him much tougher. He also never gets seriously hurt [[spoiler:until he loses that trait and has it replaced with the more powerful "Big Damn Hero" potential]].
* OneLastSmoke: [[spoiler:A bloodied Raz struggles to stick one final unlit cigarette into his mouth as a couple more Imperial troops confront him and gun him down.]]
* OnlyOneName: Because he's of the persecuted Darcsen people, he has no surname.
* PreAsskickingOneliner: When his Undodgeable Shot potential activates.
--->''You ain't goin' nowhere!''
* RealMenEatMeat: Upon learning Squad F had previously hoarded the supplies in the town they stopped by (which leads to the mock battle against them), Raz is especially not amused because they also hoarded the meat in the town.
--> '''Raz:''' ''*cracks knuckles*'' Hell yeah! I'll show 'em how far a man will go for meat!
* RefugeInAudacity: Played with. Raz grabbing Kai's ass and then getting slugged for it is one of the more notable examples of his audaciousness. This tendency to act before thinking is exactly what gets him in trouble.
* SergeantRock: He's the closest thing Squad E has to {{Franchise/Rambo}}.
* ScreamingWarrior
* ShipperOnDeck: To Kai's surprise, he decides to lead away Kai and Miles so that Riley and Claude can have some alone time together in Einhemt, Chapter 5.
* SirSwearsALot: Raz has got a really foul mouth.
* SmokingIsNotCool: Angie to Raz, since it'd leave an odor on the bed sheets.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Kai Schulen]]
!!Kai/[[spoiler:Leena]] Schulen
!!!'''Voiced by:''' Creator/MaayaSakamoto (Japanese), Creator/EricaMendez (English)
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/vc4_kai_schulen.png]]

A skilled sniper who operates as Squad E's sergeant major.
----
* BigEater: Implied. She has negative potential that will drain her HP upon experiencing hunger (or in gameplay terms, when her AP falls below half), and one of the driving forces behind the mock battle against Squad F after they bought all of the supplies in a town is because they also hoarded the bread.
* BelligerentSexualTension: With Raz. Raz is shamelessly infatuated with her, and she has hints of liking him back, but he's so crude and insensitive that Kai typically ends up socking him for saying and doing things he really shouldn't instead. Not helped by her {{Tsundere}} tendencies whenever the two have a tender moment going on. [[spoiler:Becomes UnresolvedSexualTension when Raz [[HeroicSacrifice sacrifices himself]] near the end of the story.]]
* BoobsOfSteel: Kai, a master sniper who also has no problem handling male soldiers in hand-to-hand combat. She's also no slouch in the bust department (though she's definitely not the biggest).
* BorrowedCatchphrase: In the English version, Kai invokes this with one of her late-game potentials [[spoiler:in memory of Raz.]]
* CloudcuckoolandersMinder: She took it upon herself to look after Raz and his more... [[LeeroyJenkins Reckless]] approach to combat. She's usually also the first to call him out on his dumber statements and his perverted streak.
* ColdSniper: Being a loner is one of her potentials, and shunning her comrades actually raises her stats.
* ConflictingLoyalty: [[spoiler:After encountering Cygnus Fleet, she is more and more torn between helping her friends and the Federation winning the war and helping her brother sabotage the Cygnus Fleet to rescue the Valkyrias powering the Snow Cruisers, which is made worse when she encountered Angie. She eventually decides to side with her friends after Raz confronts her about her issue and [[AnguishedDeclarationOfLove confess to her]]. She doesn't have enough willpower to kill her brother, however, until the finale when she's forced to kill him to prevent him from getting Angie.]]
* DeadpanSnarker: Has her moments, especially when Raz is involved.
--> '''Kai:''' ''(upon watching Raz having'' another ''scuffle with a Navy member in Centurion's mess hall)'' Could always throw them out onto the Crystal Sea and let them have a snowball fight.
* EasilyForgiven: You'd think her friends might have some questions for her after learning [[spoiler: she's been spying on them for her brother]]. Not only does Raz let it slide (no questions asked), he tells Kai that he'll take the blame for it if the others find out. Except when Claude and Riley finally ''do'' find out about it, they say they don't care either and simply let it drop.
* FriendlySniper: Helps the team out as the squad's main sniper.
* HerHeartWillGoOn: [[spoiler:In the final entry of her character profile, it is stated that her love for Raz is what keeps her going on living.]]
* JigglePhysics: Kai's breasts do bounce a bit in a few cutscenes, though it's only noticeable when she's not wearing her cloak.
* MeaningfulRename: [[spoiler:Her original name is Leena Schulen. She assumed her brother's name to hide the fact that he had gone AWOL from the brass. After the war, she goes into hiding with Angie and assumes a different, unspecified name.]]
* TheMole: Kai [[spoiler: is not actually Kai, but the real Kai's younger Sister, Leena Schulen. She impersonates him under his order while he assumes the identity of Forsetti, a high ranking officer in the Imperial Army. She eventually becomes disillusioned with this role and betrays him.]]
* MsFanservice: The game gives a lot of attention to her butt, despite that she dresses very conservatively. She's also got an above-average bust size compared to other females in the series (though she's nothing compared to Selvaria, Juliana, Riela, etc), which makes her a frequent object of Raz's MaleGaze.
** This almost verges into a BrickJoke as, by the end of the campaingn, even [[spoiler:Imperial Commander Klaus]] is not above remarking on her shapely derrière, much to [[spoiler:Crymaria's annoyiance.]]
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: After gunning down [[spoiler:Forseti, aka her own older brother]], she drops to her knees, unable to do anything but scream helplessly.
* NiceHat: Complete with cute wolf ears.
* NotSoAboveItAll: Usually, she's the one running herd on Raz, unless it comes to bread. Then's she more than willing to reinforce him in his crazy, which is effectively what triggers Squad E and F's mock battle. Encapsulated by this gem that she drops:
--> '''Kai:''' I don't know who bought out the entire bakery. [[Film/{{Taken}} But I will find them. And I wil kill them.]]
* PervertRevengeMode: After Raz gropes her buttocks, she punches him in the face as retaliation. This is followed up by an all-out fight between the two, which happens offscreen.
* RedBaron: She's known in the Federation and Imperial military forces as "Deadeye" for her accurate shots in the battlefield ("One Shot Killer" in Japanese).
* SiblingMurder: [[spoiler:Albeit reluctantly, she guns down her own brother to prevent him from retrieving Angie from the secret chamber housing her.]]
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: She's obsessed with bread, which helps her get along pretty well with Alicia. She loves Alicia bread enough to vow to find Alicia's bakery after the war and be her first customer. Sadly enough, being hungry for bread actually reduces her health via the "hungry" potential.

!Squad F
[[folder:Minerva Victor]]
!!Minerva Victor
!!! '''Voiced by:''' Creator/SaoriHayami (Japanese), Creator/AlexisTipton (English)
[[quoteright:294:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/minerva_0.png]]

Commander of Squad F with the rank of Lieutenant. She was one of Claude's classmates during his time at the academy and it was there she developed a fierce rivalry towards him.
----
* AlphaBitch: She has authority over all other leaders in the division, including Squad E. The members of her own squad hold her in high regard because she expects the same standards from them that she's set for herself.
* AlwaysSecondBest: To Claude, which infuriates her. He's always beaten her at everything since their days in the academy: he consistently scored higher marks, his tactics are always superior, and he's gained far greater recognition than she has. Made moreso since all of Claude's success seems to come easily for him, whereas she has to push herself just to try to keep up.
* BirdsOfAFeather: She and Christel share quite a bit in common: they're both redheads who wear glasses, both take pride in Squad F, and both have personal peevs with Claude. They even have potentials that lower their accuracy and anti-personnel attack power if they're positioned anywhere near him on the field.
* FieryRedhead: Has red hair and is fiercely competitive, especially in regards to her rivalry with Claude.
* {{Foil}}: Series wise, she's one to Faldio Landzaat in the original game. Both are Squad leaders who were Classmates to Claude and Welkin respectively and end up having their squads wiped out with them being the sole survivors. While Faldio and Welkin have a solid friendship that lasts throughout most of the original game, Minerva makes her resentment of Claude clear, butting heads with him constantly. At the Climax of the both games, their relationships with the protagonists become flipped. Welkin's friendship with Faldio becomes strained due to the latter's act of shooting Alicia. Minerva, on the otherhand sets aside her rivalry with Claude and acknowledges him as the better commander.
* GagBoobs: It's obvious from the start that they're big, since even her uniform can't hide them. But the only way you'll get to see just ''how big'' they truly are is with the ''"Squad E, to the Beach!"'' DLC. Even Raz, who usually only has eyes for Kai, couldn't help staring or shouting his appreciation for Minerva's massive mammaries.
* GetAHoldOfYourselfMan: She gives one to Claude before the Sea Fortress assault when he failed to raise the morale of the troop through his words, saying that his actions have always been the one to do the talking to pull his troop from the brink.
* ICallItVera: [[spoiler:After the war, she continues service in Federation military along with Ronald, and she names her new tank "Christel".]]
* MoralityChain: [[spoiler:Claude ends up being this for her, despite her enmity towards him. He's the one to talk her down from destroying Schwarzgrad after the ceasefire was declared]].
* MyGreatestFailure: [[spoiler: The loss of her squad weighs heavily on her, enough that she even passed up promotion over Claude because of it.]]
* {{Gainaxing}}: Her ample chest is rather jiggly in a lot of cutscenes. Funnily enough, her swimsuit skin ''removes'' this from some scenes.
* PragmaticHero: Though resentful of Claude's success and holding him indirectly responsible for [[spoiler: Christel's death]], she turned down the Federation's offer to promote her to Captain, because she felt Claude was better qualified to lead Operation "Cygnus".
* PreAsskickingOneliner: When her Undodgeable Shot potential activates.
--->''No dodging this shot!''
* TheResenter: Towards Claude for always outpreforming her, no matter how hard she tries to compete with him.
* RevengeBeforeReason: [[spoiler:When Claude refuses to set off the bomb after the ceasefire is declared, Minerva threatens to trigger it. She then breaks down in tears when Claude reminds her of their duty and promise, which is ending the war as opposed to committing downright genocide.]]
* UnknownRival: She is ''fiercely'' competitive with Claude because he always performed better at the academy. Claude, for his part, is mostly exasperated at her attitude.
* WhatTheHellHero: She delivers a scathing one to Claude at the end of Chapter 7 for failing to show at he rendezvous point when they were supposed to. Claude decided to ambush an Imperial supply depot, unaware that [[spoiler: Squad F and the rest of the Federation Army were being wiped out]] because Squad E wasn't there to support them.

[[folder:Ronald Albee]]
!!Ronald Albee
!!!'''Voiced by:''' Creator/AtsukiTani (Japanese), Creator/DougErholtz (English)
[[quoteright:292:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ronald_9.jpg]]

Tank commander and primary engineer of Squad F. He has a very cold professional demeanor, and is quite loyal to Minerva. He drives the Glory, a customizable Gallian light tank that was purchased for Squad F.

----
* FantasticRacism: Has the Darcsen Discriminator potential, sometimes expressing discomfort about being allied with Darcsens if there are Darcsen units nearby during gameplay. As with Viola, he doesn't get over it.
* FireForgedFriends: During his squad story, he quarrels with Ryan and Keigel under the assumption that they are being disrespectful towards the deceased members of Squad F. Minerva talks some sense into Ronald later, as she had asked those two soldiers to look out for him. During one hopeless-looking operation, Ronald finds out that Ryan is addicted to candy. To get Ryan to stop moping on the battlefield, Ronald shares some left-over chocolate. This gives Ryan the morale boost needed to shoot his way out of the incoming mob of Imperial soldiers.
* SempaiKohai: Much like Miles to Claude, he was formerly Minerva's underclassman.
* UndyingLoyalty: To Minerva, so much that it also becomes one of his potentials.
* YoungerThanTheyLook: Despite his stern demeanor and weathered face, his character info shows him to be only twenty years old.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Christel Ward]]
!!Christel Ward
!!!'''Voiced by:''' Creator/YukaSaitou (Japanese), Creator/CheramiLeigh (English)

----
* ClingyJealousGirl: Her personnel file also mentions she will not allow any man to woo Minerva with a specific mention of Claude being a potential suitor despite neither him nor Minerva showing attraction to one another.
* CrushBlush: Seen almost anytime she interacts directly with her beloved, usually done with a starry-eyed gaze.
* DiedInYourArmsTonight: [[spoiler: She passes away in Minerva's arms after the assembled soldiers (minus Squad E) were ambushed at their rendezvous point by Klaus' squadron.]]
* EveryoneCanSeeIt: Her feelings for Minerva are so blatantly obvious that her personnel file explicitly states that everyone knows. Though it isn't said whether that includes Minerva herself, or if she reciprocates.
* {{Fangirl}}: She all but worships the ground Minerva walks on and serves her zealously.
* GameplayAndStorySegregation: When recruited as a SecretCharacter, Christel will start out already at Corporal rank. In order to unlock her squad story, though, one would still need to "feed" her the amount of CP she would need (20 in Story mode, 40 in Skirmish, 14 on Hard/EX) to go from Private to Corporal normally.
* GetAHoldOfYourselfMan: During a mock battle with Squad E in the "A Chivalrous Heart" Fragment, she gets so exasperated by Minerva's obsession with beating Claude that she actually drops her usual sycophancy and chews out her commander on letting her rivalry blind her to everything around her.
* GoOutWithASmile: She dedicated her life to serving Minerva and gladly gave it [[spoiler: defending her. Hearing Minerva's words of appreciation and [[FalseReassurance her assurance]] that they'd held out long enough for reinforcements to arrive allowed Christel to die peacefully]].
* HighClassGlass: Wears a monocle on her right eye.
* LipstickLesbian: Her personnel file confirms she's in love with Minerva and often fantasizes about being together with her. She's overtly feminine, in terms of her style of dress and mannerism.
* NumberTwo: Second to command Squad F.
* SecretCharacter: [[spoiler: A bizarre example. You unlock her in the post-game by bringing her back from death, using the same mechanic to resurrect other dead characters.]]
* UndyingLoyalty: Christel is hopelessly loyal to Minerva, bordering {{Cloudcuckoolander}} levels. Even after Minerva suffered a setback or made an obvious mistake, Christel somehow manages to perceive them as positive traits.
* YouAreBetterThanYouThinkYouAre: Spends a majority of the "A Chivalrous Heart" fragment reassuring Minerva that Squad F believes in her abilities, when her commander is seriously angsting over her perceived inferiority to Claude. It doesn't stick until the GetAHoldOfYourselfMan moment above, after which Minerva finally gets over it... temporarily.

[[folder:Miles Arbeck]]
!!Miles Arbeck
!!!'''Voiced by:''' Creator/HiroshiOkamoto (Japanese), Creator/ChrisHackney (English)

One of the Squad's mechanics and tank driver for the Hafen, he knows Claude and company from their military training days (except Riley).
----

* CameraFiend: Never misses the chance to take photos of the squad whenever possible, never mind that films are hard to get by in the front line.
* CowardlyLion: Of the core Squad members, Miles is the most jittery and the one most likely to complain about the craziness of Claude's more daring plans, but he always comes through when it matters.
* DramaticIrony: Anyone who's played the first game will cringe a bit at [[spoiler: his obvious crush on Isara in the DLC]], because that character is DoomedByCanon.
* {{Keet}}: Tends to be very enthusiastic when building new equipment in the R&D room, although this is more notable in his Japanese voice.
* SempaiKouhai: He addresses Claude as "sempai" in Japanese, and his personnel file says that Claude was his senior in the military academy.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: His surname is either '''Abegg''' or '''Arbeck'''.

* {{Hikkikomori}}: Has "Shut-in" potential, and he'd rather spend his time (including sleeping) inside Cactus when possible.
* MarriedToTheJob: He once had a significant other, but eventually they grew apart due to his passion towards armored vehicles. However, Dan still keeps her photo in his vehicle.
* ReluctantWarrior: Despite being a prodigy at operating tanks and being a tank enthusiast, he dislikes killing and opts to drive an armored personnel carrier, Cactus, instead. Though Cactus is equipped with a machine gun, gunning down soldiers is not Dan's primary role on the battlefield.

----
* CheerfulChild: She's chipper, kind-hearted, and doesn't hesitate to help others with menial tasks.
* ChildSoldier: [[spoiler:Officially she's a civilian contractor, but there's not much of a distinction between a contractor and a soldier when one is serving on a warship on the front lines. The Navy claims that her service is entirely legal because she signed enlistment papers, but that glosses over the fact that she wasn't old enough to understand what she was signing, and it's doubtful that the contract mentioned that they planned on having her blow herself up at a time and place of their choosing. Also, Forseti flat out stated that if she hadn't signed the enlistment papers, the government would have just kidnapped her.]]
* TheCutie: Sweet, kind, and helpful, her presence gives a boon to the soldiers and sailors aboard ''Centurion''. [[spoiler:When it's finally revealed that she's the ship's main power source, everyone in Squad E is devastated.]]
* HiddenDepths: [[spoiler:As it turns out, she's a Valkyria who is responsible for powering the Centurion from within its Forbidden Zone, with only a very minuscule number of its senior crew members knowing of her real identity.]]
* InSeriesNickname: She's often referred to as "Angie" by the others.
* LivingBattery: [[spoiler:She's a Valkyria responsible for powering the Centurion from within its Forbidden Zone. What's worse, is that approximately 100 other adolescent girls are suffering a similar fate.]]
* MeaningfulName: Her name's Angie, short for Angelica, and she has the candor and demeanor to match. [[spoiler: It also sounds an ''awful'' lot like [[PunnyName "Engine"]], which will first clue in the player to her identity.]]
* ParentalAbandonment: Mother is dead, father is an unemployed drunk. [[spoiler:She agreed to be the Centurion's power source/self destruct mechanism in exchange for financial support for her family.]]
* WalkingSpoiler: It's hard to say much about Angelica's role in the game without giving away major plot developments.
* WeHardlyKnewYe: [[spoiler:Her on-screen moments with the main cast are overall short-lived, and spends the remainder of the game powering the Centurion from within its Forbidden Zone after she regains her memories. Come the true ending, however, she's completely fine.]]
* YouCantGoHomeAgain: Implied by the final entry of her character profile that states that she hopes that wherever her father and siblings are, they will remain happy. ----
* JumpedAtTheCall: Karen enlisted with the EA when they announced a recruitment drive.
* MassiveNumberedSiblings: Her profile indicates she's the eldest of a large family.
* TheMedic: The squad's lone dedicated medic until boarding the ''Centurion'', when Sergio takes on some of the medical workload.
* ShootTheMedicFirst: The victim of such in Chapter 13 if she's called out to evacuate a wounded teammate. An enemy sniper has been [[ObligatoryWarCrimeScene specifically ordered to target Federation medics]] and she will get shot in the arm the moment she runs out. Karen is unusable for this mission until the sniper is found and killed.
* SkipTheAnesthetic: She'll treat battlefield wounds without any anesthetic if necessary, as noted early on when a Federation soldier asks for some and she irritably tells him there isn't any and he'll just have to "tough it out."
* TextileWorkIsFeminine: Her personnel file indicates she enjoys doing needlework in her spare time. Incidentally, this also ties into her medical specialty being suturing wounds.

* AGirlAndHerX: Invoked by Rags himself towards Angie. Since she is smaller than the rest of everyone else in the Centurion, Rags decided that she needs protection and sticks with her. [[spoiler:After the war, he apparently sticks with her (and Kai), who are now living in hiding.]]
* DeathbringerTheAdorable: Named for the end of the world, but carries medical supplies and wears a jaunty cap. Squad members get a morale boost if they see him in action.
* NiceHat: Wears one.
* SoleSurvivor: The final entry noted that Ragnarok used to come from a group of sled dogs those were abandoned, with him being the only one that survived.
* TeamPet: He's the medical dog and mascot to Platoon E.
