** In his childhood, his family engaged in all kinds of debauchery and his stepsiblings regularly abused him and his sister, Marche. After they blinded Marche, Singlen manipulated a mob into killing those very stepsiblings.

* JerkassHasAPoint: He's one of the more abrasive members of the Seven Paladins, but he has a point that Lux is an excellent Paladin candidate, that his achievements could make people in Atismata and other countries fear him more than they respect him, and that his country takes his service for granted. !!!Drag-Ride: EX Wyrm
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/alterize01.jpg]]
->'''Voiced by''': Creator/SaoriOnishi

A butler of the Einfolk house.
----
* AcePilot: She is a great Drag-Knight and earned the title EX Rank.
* AdaptationalHeroism: Most of her negative interactions with other characters are removed in the anime.
* BattleButler: She is both a Drag-Knight and a butler.
* {{Bifauxnen}}: When she's in her butler uniform, one could easily be forgiven for thinking she's a handsome man instead. Her deep voice doesn't help.
* BoyishShortHair: As befits a butler, she keeps her hair short.
* IgnoredEpiphany: Despite seeing how wrong it is, first hand, to judge a fiance for Krulcifer, purely based on his skill, real or rumored, with a Drag-ride, she still sets up Lux to be Krulcifer's fiance, based purely on his skill with Bahamut. Fortunately, Lux has many, many other good ponts, and Krulcifer actually approves of Lux.
* {{Jerkass}}: She is not a good woman, at all. Yelling at Lux and Krulcifer for her own actions and those of Kreutzer has definitely not won her any fans.
* LaserGuidedKarma: She tried to sell out Krulcifer to the Kreutzer family for the Einfolk's gain. Kreutzer went after her first during the rigged duel he had against Lux and Krulcifer.
* NeverMyFault: After Kreutzer demands a duel with Lux and Krulcifer forces her to participate as well because she's the one who set up the arranged marriage interview without notifying either Kreutzer ''or'' Krulcifer first, ambushing both of them with it in a tavern, while Lux is present as Krulcifer's "boyfriend," she berates both Lux and Krulcifer for it, even going so far as to say she "spoiled [Krulcifer] too much." Krulcifer immediately calls her out on it, in glorious TranquilFury.
* NiceJobFixingItVillain: Despite being ''technically'' a neutral party, as opposed to an actual antagonist, her abrasive efforts to force a BureaucraticallyArrangedMarriage on Krulcifer serve to cement her feelings for Lux instead, and actually saves the Einfolk house from the villainy and depravity of the Kreutzer household.
* PragmaticVillainy: Quite possibly the first example in the series. What makes her technically a neutral figure as opposed to a full blown antagonist is that she carefully considers the pros and cons of her actions, and engages in jerkassery only when she believes it's ultimately profitable. If she can profit from behaving in a decent manner instead, she'll do it.
* SocialDarwinist: The Einfolk family, bar Krulcifer, believes that the ''only'' important thing of merit about a fiance candidate is his competence with a Drag-ride. This is a sentiment she shares, even after Kreutzer's exposed. She arranges Lux to be Krulcifer's fiance not because of his character, but because [[spoiler:he was victorious without cheating.]]
* TookALevelInKindness: Downplayed. She's still a SocialDarwinist, but in Volume 8, she thanks Lux for helping Krulcifer [[TookALevelInCheerfulness become happier]], which is a far cry from her initial LackOfEmpathy towards Krulcifer's suffering.

* ComboPlatterPowers: Subverted. [[spoiler:Her Drag-ride's only ability is to control temperature, but she can use it versatilely to create illusions and negate heat and ice-based attacks.]]
* DefeatMeansFriendship: [[spoiler:After Krulcifer defeats her and brings her back to normal, Mel recruits her as an aide.]]
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: She's arrogant in her skills as a Drag-ride pilot and likes to troll Lux, but she has a softer side as shown by her interactions with Orphel.
* LittleMissBadass: Mel, a thirteen year old girl who's able to become one of the Seven Dragon Paladins.
* RevengeBeforeReason: She's a more self-aware example than most, since she admits that she tends to prioritize killing Abysses over protecting her comrades, due to the Abyss attack that killed House Gizalut.
* WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds: [[spoiler:After Orphel is killed by an Abyss, Drakkhen impersonates Orphel's voice and tells Mel that Krulcifer is responsible for the Abyss attack that killed her family. This causes Mel to overdose on Elixir and go on a rampage against Krulcifer.]]

* MamaBear: She shows a lot of concern for Mel and visits her frequently despite that Bishops usually don't get involved with the military. [[spoiler:That's because she's really Mel's mother.]]

Mel also suspects that she might be trying to get close to her to get the Gizalut family fortune. [[spoiler:Then it turns out she was GoodAllAlong and wanted to lure the Marauders into a trap. !!!Drag-Ride: B-blood Wyvern
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/saniya01.jpg]]
->'''Voiced by''': Creator/MaoIchimichi

A 3rd year student at the Knight Academy. She turns out to actually be a spy from the Heiburg Republic.
----
* AmbiguouslyBrown: Her skin tone is far darker than just about everyone else in the series.
* AmbitionIsEvil: Her goal is to rise up in Heibuerg's ranks and lord over all the nobles in both her own country and Atismata to get revenge for her mistreatment.
* ArchEnemy: To Celestia.
* BackForTheDead: [[spoiler:She and her ally, Ignid, return in Volume 16 for a suicide mission, where they're supposed to lose to Lux and falsely claim that Prime Minister Nulph is Fugil's collaborator.]]
* DirtyCoward: She only fights when she thinks she has the absolute advantage, can use psychological warfare to weaken her foes, or hide behind human shields. When she knows she can't, she runs away.
* TheDragon: To Hayes.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: Downplayed. She obeys Hayes's orders, but she admits that she doesn't trust the latter to help Heiberg in the long run.
* FalseFriend: To Celestia, and she doesn't hesitate to use this trope to guilt-trip Celestia into sparing her.
* FreudianExcuse: In Volume 3 Chapter 4, she claims she was mistreated by her brothers, but considering that she's TheMole, she may be an UnreliableNarrator. Her real FreudianExcuse is that she was a war orphan who was taken into custody by Heiberg's military, but was unable to get promoted significantly because of her low social status, which explains why she hates nobles.
* TheGuardsMustBeCrazy: Episode 12 reveals that she left Lisha's sword device, Tiamat, on a crate right outside her cell, and then opened the door to sic two depraved guards on Lisha. If Lisha was just a bit less traumatized, all three of them would have been going up against a powerful Divine Drag-Ride, with a competent pilot at the helm, something they proved they couldn't handle when Lux showed up with Bahamut.
* HatesEveryoneEqually: At first, she seems to be a [[DoesNotLikeMen man-hater]], especially when she tries to set up Lux to be expelled, and is actually surprised that Celestia doesn't think the same way. Once her true colors are revealed, [[FemaleMisogynist she turns out to hate high-class ladies as well]] and has no issue sending male goons to rape Lisha, or helping sex-slavers infiltrate the academy.
* JerkWithAHeartOfJerk: Her one redeeming quality was her loyalty and friendship with Celes, until it turns out that was a lie.
* TheMole: She was really the campus intruder and was spying on the school all along for the Heiberg Republic.
* NotSoStoic: In the anime at least, she sports a somewhat bloodthirsty side after revealing her true colors.
* OhCrap: After gloating about how Lux's feats as the Black Hero are a hoax, she's in disbelief after Lux delivers a CurbStompBattle to Poseidon, a Ragnarok that's capable of destroying a country.
* PaperThinDisguise: Her "disguise" is a theatre mask, flamboyant cloak, and fancy duds that wouldn't be out of place among The Three Musketeers. From a distance, at night, in bushes, and getting only a quick glimpse, especially since Lux never saw her before, he can be forgiven for not recognizing her. Walking up to The Triad, in broad daylight? How she expected to not be recognized is anyone's guess.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: Her eyes are almost as red as Lisesharte's and she's a particularly nasty individual.
* SelfHealingPhlebotinum: Her B-blood Wyvern can regenerate its armor and weapons. This is because her Wyvern received power from a Ragnarok.
* SlobsVersusSnobs: Definitely on the "slob" side as she has ''extreme'' hatred for the nobility of the Astimata Kingdom, without exception, but refuses to elaborate on her grudge. She prefers to wipe the slate clean by allying with Hayes and just burning the whole kingdom to the ground.

[[folder:Rosa Granhide]]
!Rosa Granhide
!!!Drag-Ride: Gorynych
The Seven Dragons Paladin of the Heiburg Republic.
----
* BadBoss: She threatens her aide, Calensia, with slavery if she loses in the match against Atismata's representatives, knowing that Lux will hesitate to take the easy road to victory upon hearing that.
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: [[spoiler:She was brainwashed into doing dirty work for the King of Vices so that the latter can avoid endangering herself. While the brainwashing is based on her desire to escape from her weakness and fear, the fact that it has to be reapplied and that she sometimes wakes up from it makes her an example of this trope rather than MoreThanMindControl.]]
* TheBadGuyWins: In Volume 8, her foul play successfully lets her win the rights to explore the next Ruins before the other countries.
* CardCarryingVillain: According to her, if an equally powerful good and bad guy clash, the bad guy will win due to being TheUnfettered. Thus, she gleefully embraces her evil ways. Unlike Fugil, who also thinks along similar lines, she never tries to justify her own actions as being for the greater good.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: [[spoiler:The shock of her parents being executed for [[NoGoodDeedGoesUnpunished opposing Heiberg's militarization]], the trauma of being tortured, and Stefa being used as leverage against her caused Rosa to become susceptible to brainwashing.]]
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: When she's introduced, she assaults a civilian for standing in her way.
* ExtremeDoormat: [[spoiler:After her redemption, she keeps telling Lux that she'll follow any of his orders, though he never gives any to her.]]
* FightingFromTheInside: [[spoiler:When Stefa calls out to her, she briefly returns to her original kind personality before the brainwashing kicks in again.]]
* {{Foreshadowing}}: During the private scenes between her and Calensia, the narrator is deliberately ambiguous about who is talking. [[spoiler:It turns out "Calensia" is the one talking about how evil is stronger than good while Rosa is submissive to her. Additionally, the one doing the talking states that evil can pretend to be good, which contradicts Rosa's lack of subtlety.]]
* HeelFaceTurn: [[spoiler:In Volume 11, she returns to her original personality and thanks Lux for freeing her from the King of Vices.]]
* {{Jerkass}}: She's the biggest jerk of the paladins, as shown by her violent personality towards anyone who so much as stands in her way. She also shamelessly admits to killing her own classmates in selection battles ForTheEvulz.
* JerkassFacade: [[spoiler:Despite being freed from her brainwashing, she still has to act arrogant in order to prevent the other paladins from learning about her brainwashing and Heiberg's messy political situation. In Volume 13, Mel notes that her facade tends to drop around Lux.]]
* KarmaHoudiniWarranty: [[spoiler:Despite getting away with cheating in Volume 8, Lux manages to beat her in Volume 10 and makes her [[AintTooProudToBeg beg for mercy]].]]
* RedHerring: She's the top Drag-knight of Heiburg, gleefully oppresses her citizens, and constantly espouses how evil is stronger than good. She can also use unmanned armors known as Twelve Vice to act as her minions. This makes it easy to assume she's the King of Vices, [[spoiler:but she was really brainwashed into a decoy for the real king.]]
* TheUnfettered: First, she has a minion ambush and capture Lux and Celestia in order to make them late to their match, allowing her to request a handicap for her team along with a special rule. Then she threatens to sell her aide into slavery if Lux and Celestia defeats her first, allowing her to force the match into a tie and use the handicap to win.
* UsedToBeASweetKid: According to Stefa, Rosa wasn't always a psycho and actually showed concern for her opponents, but her time in Heiburg's corrupt military changed her for the worse.
* YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness: [[spoiler:After she is injured by Lux to the point of being unable to use a Drag-ride, the King of Vice orders Brandish to finish her off at the Babel Ruins, only for Coral to save her.]]

[[folder:The King of Vices]]
!The King of Vices
!!!Divine Drag-ride: Alklha
The shadow ruler of the Heiburg Republic. [[spoiler:She killed Calensia Hersmice prior to the start of the series and pretends to be her to throw off suspicion.]]
----
* BadBoss: She killed her subordinate, Gerdaf, when he loses to Lux in Volume 8.
* BitchInSheepsClothing: [[spoiler:She poses as Rosa's poor, mistreated subordinate, but she's really the one in charge of Heiburg's horrible oppressive government.]]
* CardCarryingVillain: She exagerrates this unlike most other people under this trope, since she takes pride in being a DirtyCoward who orders decoys do the dirty work for her while she pretends to be an upstanding soldier.
* DarkIsEvil: Her Drag-Ride can create a curtain of darkness that can rob people of their five senses and hide her own attacks.
* DirtyCoward: Not only is she reliant on having a decoy to hide herself, Phi [[TheReasonYouSuckSpeech calls her out]] for embracing the path of unfettered evil just because being good is more difficult.
* DragonAscendant: Hayes may have been the catalyst for Heiburg's corruption, but the King of Vices perpetuates it long after the former's death.
* DyingDeclarationOfHate: Before the backlash of Elixir can kill her, she declares that good will eventually lose to evil and that Lux and Phi's victory is only temporary.
* EvilerThanThou: The narrator states that her malice surpasses the Old Emperor and other corrupt nobles, which is saying something in this setting.
* FrameUp: Her goal in Volume 10 is to frame Lux as the traitor who is conspiring with the Dragon Marauders and uses his infiltration in Heiburg to lend credence to that claim.
* HateSink: While Lux speculates she might have experienced powerlessness in the past, it doesn't begin to make up for the sheer misery she caused. She is responsible for turning Heiburg into a nation where lower ranked soldiers are ruled with fear, is fond of terrorizing her own citizens and enslaving them, [[spoiler:brainwashes Rosa into becoming a SociopathicSoldier]], unsuccessfully goads Lux into killing [[spoiler:Rosa]] in order to frame him for assassination, and tries to unleash the Ragnarok Metatron upon Atismata. She so bad that she's compared ''negatively'' to the Old Arcadia Emperor.
* {{Hypocrite}}: She calls Philuffy a monster for using her Abyss powers, despite her use of [[WithGreatPowerComesGreatInsanity Elixir]].
* KillAndReplace: [[spoiler:She killed the real Calensia, which explains why she has to avoid meeting Stefa, who is the cousin of the real Calensia. The King also arranged for Stefa to be blinded by Rosa in order to make it easier for her to hide her identity theft.]]
* TheManInFrontOfTheMan: She's hidden in plain sight as [[spoiler:Calensia Hersmice, the aide of Rosa]].
* OneWingedAngel: Unsurprisingly given the trend of villains using Elixir, she uses it too in order to fight Lux because her Drag-Ride's consumption would be too powerful otherwise.
* NoNameGiven: She dies before her true name can be revealed and the narrator continues to refer to her with her stolen identity.
* ShadowDictator: She's the one controlling Heiburg from the shadows and using the military to oppress its citizens, but she keeps her true identity a secret.
* TheSociopath: Perhaps the biggest example in the series, actively seeking to be an evil person because she simply can't see the point in being good. She has absolutely no empathy or conscience, but can put up a shameless and convincing facade of normalcy, to the point where the reader would have difficulty seeing through her without Volume 10's prologue. As she puts it, evil is more versatile because it can pretend to be good without feeling guilt.
* StoryBreakerPower: Her Divine Raiment, <Dark Fall>, is deadly against Drag-Ride pilots because they need all their senses to operate effectively. It takes Philuffy's AntiMagic to limit the effects of <Dark Fall>.
* TheyLookJustLikeEveryoneElse: Compared to other villains, her character design doesn't stand out, which is intentional due to her being a ShadowDictator. While she is technically [[spoiler:Rosa's aide]], she initially seems to be nothing more than a MauveShirt in Heiburg's army in terms of combat ability, which makes her powerful Divine Drag-ride that much more alarming.
* TheUnapologetic: As she dies, she still embraces her evil path, claiming that unlike the protagonists, she won't become a victim.
* UnwittingPawn: Lux suspects that the Dragon Marauders didn't tell her about the side-effects of Elixir.
* WalkingSpoiler: Given the amount of secrecy involved in hiding her identity, as well as the fact that she's not [[spoiler:Rosa]], it's hard to talk about her without spoilers.

[[folder:Greifer Nest]]
! Greifer Nest
!!!Drag-ride: Cuelebre
The Seven Paladins representative of the Vanheim Principality.
----
* AdaptedOut: He doesn't appear in the anime.
* BodyguardCrush: Coral claims he has a crush on Vanheim's princess, Milmiette.
* DisproportionateRetribution: From someone stealing his wallet to a guard injuring his teammate, Greifer is quick to suggest dismemberment as punishment.
* {{Foil}}: He serves as one to Lux. Both come from high-ranking families, but lost their positions due to the actions of the Old Arcadia Empire. They both regained prestige after becoming the knights of princesses (Lisha for Lux, Milmiette for Greifer).
* FreudianExcuse: His father was charged for a crime by the Old Empire and killed ten years ago, which may explain his paranoid behavior.
* HardWorkHardlyWorks: Double subverted. He was described as someone who originally had no talent as a Drag-knight, but eventually became a Divine Drag-ride pilot through hard work. However, in Volume 13, he mentions that he suddenly gained the aptitude to use a Drag-Ride after meeting a strange girl, implying he received Elixir, which Fugil later confirms.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Despite his initial vicious attitude, Coral states that he's good at taking care of others, as shown when he warns Lux about a broken stair handrail.
* NighInvulnerable: His Divine Raiment is <Photon Dive>, which makes him invincible for at least seven seconds. He usually deactivates it before the time limit in order to prevent others from knowing how long it is.
* ThrowTheDogABone: He manages to avoid being TheWorfBarrage when he defeat Metatron by himself, using a clever application of his Divine Raiment.
* {{Tsundere}}: He's both a romantic and a non-romantic example. He fervently rejects any suggestions that he's attracted to Princess Milmiette whenever Coral brings it up. He also puts on a facade of being uncaring in general, yet is actually very helpful to others, albeit in a rude and confrontational manner.
* UnwittingPawn: Hayes sabotaged the Drag-rides of Atismata knights to attack Vanheim soldiers in order to turn them against each other, causing Greifer to be an antagonist during Volume 5.
* TheWorfBarrage: He thought his <Photon Dive> would allow him to defeat Lux in their second battle easily, but he didn't expect the latter to use <Reload on Fire> to delay the full brunt of his attack until after the invincibility wore off. It also didn't help him when Krulcifer shoots her Freezing Cannon at point blank range. In Volume 6, [[spoiler:Dilwy manages to figure out the real duration of <Photon Dive >and catch him off guard.]]

* RedOniBlueOni: He's more calm and open to negotiation than Greifer, making him the Blue Oni.

[[folder:Singlen Shelbrit]]
! Singlen Shelbrit
!!!Drag-ride: Leviathan
The Vice Captain of the Seven Paladins and the representative from the Blackend Kingdom.
----
* ArrogantKungFuGuy: He's very dismissive towards less skilled pilots and balks at Lux for holding himself back in order to protect them.
* DifficultButAwesome: Like Lux, he's no stranger to using skills that are powerful, but can backfire if he makes a mistake. Battle Array - Vicissitudes is a technique where he manually controls the normally automatic Drag-ride barrier to parry an opponent's attack, but failing to block the opponent's attack will result in taking full damage. Battle Array - Aeon Fire concentrates the Drag-ride's Force Core energy into his weapon rather than other Drag-ride functions. Many of these techniques require him to tune his Drag-ride mid-battle.
* EngineeredHeroics: Using resources from the Ruins, he intentionally instigated various conflicts throughout his kingdom in order to force them to depend on him.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: Despite being a SocialDarwinist, even he thinks Fugil's plans for the world are too controlling.
* ExplosiveOverclocking: [[spoiler:After his second battle with Lux, he reveals that he provoked the latter in order to learn Overlimit, which he hoped would give him a fighting chance against Fugil.]]
* FairPlayVillain: In his first duel with Lux, he uses a weak mass-produced Drake to fight on even footing with the latter's Wyvern. This is less out of honor and more to demonstrate the skill difference between them.
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: He can create rain and use the sounds of the raindrops to predict his enemy's actions. Fugil throws off his readings by using <Reload on Fire> to slow down the rain around him.
* IAmNotLeftHanded: Yoruka barely manages to overcome his Divine Drag-ride and advanced techniques by using a combination of her Baptism and Overlimit. [[spoiler:Singlen reveals he can also use Baptism and proceeds to give her a CurbStompBattle.]]
* IJustWantToBeNormal: [[spoiler:He originally had no desire to take over the world and just wanted to live peacefully with his sister. Fugil arranges her death in order to force Singlen to become more ambitious.]]
* ItsPersonal: [[spoiler:He wants revenge on Fugil for ruining his attempts at peacefully retiring.]]
* JerkWithAHeartOfJerk: Despite getting his family killed after they blinded his sister, he claims to not truly love Marche and that he only sees her as a possession.
* JerkassHasAPoint: He's one of the more abrasive members of the Seven Paladins, but he has a point that Atismata should be more appreciative of Lux and that the latter is an excellent Paladin candidate.
* KickTheSonOfABitch:
** He kills the automaton running Babel because they're supposedly insurance for the Lords. This is subverted when it turns out they weren't serving Hayes out of their own free will.
** In his childhood, his family engaged in all kinds of debauchery and his stepsiblings regularly abused him and his sister, Marche. After they blinded Marche, Singlen manipulated a mob into killing those very stepsiblings.
* KnightTemplar: Combined with TheSocialDarwinist. He believes that the Seven Paladins should overthrow all the countries and create their own government by and for elite pilots, with weaker pilots and civilians serving them. He claims doing so is necessary because most of the governments are ruled by corrupt nobles and that only someone like him can stop them.
* KnightTemplarBigBrother: During his childhood, he'd take his stepsiblings' abuse in his older sister's place. He couldn't fight back because they had more influence in the family, but he eventually arranges their deaths when they hit her to the point of blinding her.
* MakingASplash: Leviathan can control water to deadly effect, including using a membrane of water for defense or creating sharp blades of water.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: An antiheroic example. He intentionally provoked Lux into a fight in order to learn how to perform Over Limit and use it against Fugil. Unfortunately, this tires Lux out too much to contribute in the Paladins' fight against Fugil.
* OlderThanHeLooks: He looks like a short teenager [[spoiler:because his Baptism operation slowed his aging]].
* OpportunisticBastard:
** Heiburg was originally planning on unleashing Metatron upon Atismata, but Singlen caught on to their plan and beat them to it because he wanted to force Atismata to owe him after he defeats the Ragnarok. This fails when Lux kills Metatron first, but Singlen seems pleased with the outcome, since it just proves to him that Lux is a stronger potential pawn than he thought.
** He catches on to the Dragon Marauders' plans to steal the Grand Force from Lux and uses this opportunity to try to frame Atismata for colluding with the bandits.
* ProperlyParanoid: Considering the automaton of the Gigas Ruin tried to destroy Atismata in order to avenge Hayes's death, his suspicion towards other automata is understandable. Even more so after Listelka reveals that Hayes specifically is able to control them.
* WorthyOpponent:
** He recommends Lux as a Seven Paladins candidate both to use him and because he thinks everyone else in Atismata fails to meet his standards. He's also impressed upon seeing Lux copy his Battle Array techniques, which many other pilots tried and failed to reproduce. Unfortunately, this also causes him to become obsessed with forcing Lux to become his subordinate via blackmail. [[spoiler:After finally losing to Lux, he tells something important to the latter as a reward, though the conversation is hidden to the reader.]]
** He complements Yoruka for forcing him to use [[spoiler:his own Baptism to survive a fatal wound]].
* VirtueIsWeakness: Like most antagonists, he thinks Lux's skill is wasted on trying to protect the weak and serving an unappreciative kingdom.

* MasterSwordsman: He's known as a "Sword Saint" and his movements in battle are too difficult for Lux to predict.
* ReassignedToAntarctica: Despite his dedicated military service, his superiors made him retire and become a tutor to the Shelbrit scions because of his old age.

* ConfusionFu: Her fighting-style has her swipe her claws in irregular ways so that Lux can't read her movements easily.

* SlobsVersusSnobs: Much like Saniya, she hates nobles for treating lower-ranked soldiers as cannon fodder.
* WeCanRuleTogether: Subverted. She was going to consider recruiting Lux, but abandons that idea because she sees his loyalty to Atismata as HonorBeforeReason.
* WeakButSkilled: She's this compared to other Divine Drag-ride users, since her Divine Raiment for controlling sound isn't particularly devastating compared to most of the others. She still manages to hold off Yoruka and wear out Lux's stamina before her Drag-ride is destroyed due to her preparations and strategies.

* SmallNameBigEgo: She thinks she's a much better Drag-Knight than she actually is. She's an EX-class Drag-Knight and knows ''one'' of the three secret Drag-Knight techniques, which puts her on par with Velvet Barth (the antagonist of the ''very first volume'') and far from the level of the main characters.
* SweetPollyOliver: She dresses and speaks in a masculine manner, causing Lux to mistake her for a boy when they first meet.
* UsedToBeASweetKid: According to [[spoiler:Lisha]], she used to be a quiet girl with a strong heart and was firmly attached to her family members.

!Yoruka Kirihime's homeland

[[folder: Yoruka's younger brother]]
Yoruka's unnamed younger brother who was, prior to Lux, the only person in the world who treated her kindly and like a human being.

[[caption-width-right:350:]]
* CheerfulChild: Despite being very sickly, Yoruka always remembers him with a kind, genuine smile, especially to her.
* AChildShallLeadThem: According to Yoruka, he was the monarch of her home country, at less than eight years old.
* IllBoy: He was very frail, and often ill.
* TheGoodKing: He truly cared about the fate of his citizens, and resisted bowing the knee to The Arcadia Empire, due to knowing their cruelty to their own citizens. Sadly, his noble court did not share that ideal.
* TheGreatestStoryNeverTold: His war against the agression of Arcadia, and his near victory would likely be an epic tale sung by bards across the world. Unfortunately, the only one alive who speaks of it is Yoruka, and she doesn't go into exquisite detail.
* LivingEmotionalCrutch: While he was alive, he served as Yoruka's sole oasis of affection among the desert of withering hatred and neglect that is her life.
* MoralityChain: To Yoruka. How the Empire thought killing him would go well is a mystery.
* NiceGuy: He ''always'' treated Yoruka kindly, without exception, even after he learned what her profession is.
* NoNameGiven: His name is never mentioned.
* OffWithHisHead: He was killed by decapitation, and his head was presented to Yoruka, and Arcadia's emperor, '''after''' Yoruka signed on as the Empire's assassin to guarantee the boy's safety, by traitors to her kingdom. [[RewardedAsATraitorDeserves Her response]] [[LaserGuidedKarma was entirely]] [[OffWithHisHead predictable.]]
* PosthumousCharacter: He is referenced only in flashbacks.
* TheScapegoat: To guarantee their own safety, the nobles of his home nation blamed him, and him alone, for all the resistance their nation brought to bear against the aggression of The Arcadia Empire, [[OffWithHisHead thinking he would be the only one punished for it.]] [[LaserGuidedKarma They were wrong.]]
* TheStrategist: And apparently a profound one. Despite not being able to overcome the vastly numerical and technological advantage that The Arcadia Empire brought to bear against his country, Yoruka testifies that he made their victory very, very costly, and that's with the empire bringing the ''entire'' imperial military to bear against his nation. Even then, he might well have won if he wasn't abandoned by traitorous nobles that thought the war a lost cause, and then beheaded by them, ''after'' he had surrendered and his older sister had already signed on to the empire to guarantee his safety. [[OffWithHisHead This did not go well for them, at all.]]
* TooGoodForThisSinfulEarth: Unfailingly sweet, gentle, kind, exceptionally intelligent and skilled. [[StupidEvil Of course, traitors trying to woo favor with the Empire kill him.]]
