A fallen Ultra warrior. Like Franchise/UltramanZero, Belial was originally a young and powerful warrior who was exiled from the Land of Light after attempting to steal the Plasma Spark's power for himself. In exile, he encountered the powerful entity known as [[Series/UltraGalaxyMegaMonsterBattle Reiblood]], who corrupted him further with his Reionyx powers. With the newfound ability to command monsters through the Giga Battlenizer, he led a huge army of kaiju against the Land of Light, but was ultimately defeated by [[Series/UltramanLeo Ultraman King]] and imprisoned in what became the planet's moon. But, after being freed by a foolish [[Series/{{Ultraman}} Alien Zarab]], he has begun to rampage through the cosmos once more and is now considered one of the greatest enemies of the Ultra heroes, especially his longtime foe Ultraman Zero and later on his "son" Series/UltramanGeed.

Belial has become one of the main antagonists overall of the entirety of the ''Franchise/UltraSeries'' either directly working as the BigBad of multiple instalments or through the legacy of his work infuencing events in various other instalments instead.

[[folder:A-D]]
* AbusiveParents: While he might feel some pride for him, his treatment of Riku/Geed is not exactly close to low standards for decent parenting, treating his son as a pawn and battery for most of the series and causing him various amount of grief with his actions and their repercussions.
* TheAce: While not to the level of his best friend, Ken, Belial was always considered an outstanding powerful Ultra in his youth and later. Even after his turn to evil, he maintains this status, proving always to be a skilled deadly fighter capable of overcoming just about any opponent that comes his way through a combination of sheer brute force and tempered skills developed through thousands of years of training.
* AdmiringTheAbomination: Seeing Alien Empera's massive power firsthand leaves an unhealthy impression on Belial about power, and helped drive his obsession with getting stronger that led to his turn to evil.
* AllForNothing: ''Series/UltraGalaxyFightTheAbsoluteConspiracy'' reveals to the Parallel Isotope Belial that his campaign of death and destruction ending with his defeats at Zero's hands and later, subsequent demise at the hands of his own son turn out to be this when Absolute Tartarus reveals his future to him. The past Belial simply responds by laughing it out and realizes this first hand, which prompts him to join Absolute Tartarus to change his fate.
* AndIMustScream: He was sealed away inside the moon for ''20,000 years''. Not that it seemed to bother him that much besides a general frustration at not having the ability to achieve his goals.
* AnimalMotifs: He's subtly modeled after a [[ThreateningShark shark]], with a prominent head fin even compared to other Ultras, large jaws that look like a grin and sharp small teeth.
* AntiHero: During the Ultra War, two members of Alien Empera's army surrender to Belial and Ken, claiming that Empera had forced them into fighting. Ken is ready to show mercy, but Belial promptly shoves him aside and executes the pair. When Ken protests, Belial defends himself by bluntly insisting that they were members of the army that was invading their home.
* ArchEnemy: To Ultraman Zero, being his first and most personal foe, a feeling that Belial returns with all due hatred.
* ArchnemesisDad: Discounting Ultraman Zero, his worst enemy is his own son/genetic clone [[Series/UltramanGeed Riku Asakura/Ultraman Geed]], as Belial serves as the source of Riku's pain and even in death causes him a lot of grief and suffering.
* ATragedyOfImpulsiveness: He grew impulsive and reckless enough to try and take the Plasma Spark by force to empower himself in order to compensate for his perceived weakness. This one act was the one that completely caused his entire life to fall apart and sent him down the path of no return.
* AxCrazy: One of his main traits is his utter sociopathy and raging attitude, taking great pleasure in inflicting pain and becoming a reckless berserker when suficently angered.
* BadassCape: Had one as Kaiser Belial, symbolizing his status as the absolute ruler of his empire and a threat to all of existence.
* BadGuysDoTheDirtyWork:
** He saves the Ultramen all the effort of finishing off Reibatos in ''Series/UltraFightOrb'' when the latter turns up alive after barely surviving Orb's ultimate attack.
** In ''Geed'' he kills the Alien Godola that was trying to fight his son in his return to Earth.
* BewareTheSuperman: For most of the franchise, Ultras are heroic protectors of the world. Ultraman Belial is an evil one, and one of the most dangerous threats in the universe.
** Likewise as an Ultra he's capable of growing stronger and smarter just like any Ultra Heroes and can use similar power-ups to his good-aligned enemies, making him a rather persistent and almost unkillable foe.
* BeyondRedemption: In spite of his implied desire to go back to his home in the Land of Light and sorrow over his banishment, he simply is too spiteful to admit his fault in his fate and has abandoned the idea of redemption long ago, thus killing him for good is the only way to let him rest and end his threat once and for all.
* BigBad: Of ''Film/MegaMonsterBattleUltraGalaxyLegends'', ''Film/UltramanZeroTheRevengeOfBelial'', ''Series/UltraZeroFight'' and ''Series/UltramanGeed''.
* BishonenLine: While all of his other power-up forms have him become increasingly monstrous, his Atrocious form is more humanoid and has him standing up straight instead of being hunched-over like his base form. The end result is a form that more closely resembles his Early Style while still being powerful enough to overwhelm Geed's Royal Megamaster form.
* BondVillainStupidity: In the climax of ''Film/UltramanZeroTheRevengeOfBelial'' Belial has Zero stuck in human form, captured and defenseless. So naturally, he takes this time to show him the entire revenge plan and gloat about how he'll destroy the Land of Light to make Zero suffer.
* BossSubtitles: Has a plethora of them, all depending on his form:
** Kaiser Belial: Galactic Emperor.
** Arch Belial: Great Galactic Emperor.
** Kaiser Darkness: Dark Great Emperor.
** Chimeraberus: Belial Fusion Monster.
* BreakingTheFourthWall: Episode 100 of ''Ultraman Retsuden'' sees him taking over the show and partly complaining about the short runtime and demanding it to be made longer.
* BreakoutVillain: Belial has gone on to become a very iconic part of the entire ''Ultra Series'', allowing him to reappear even after his final death in ''Geed'' in various stage shows to the point becoming one of the protagonists of the ''Darkness Heels'' project, which includes the manga ''Manga/DarknessHeelsLili''.
* BrokenAce: As powerful and dangerous as Belial was, and still is, the cycle of coming BackFromTheDead only to be killed combined with him deep down genuinely having sorrow and longing to return to the Land of Light have left him a tired, broken Ultra. He's just too full of wrath and too prideful to ever admit it was all his own fault in the first place and let go.
* CantCatchUp: After Ken unlocked his potential with the Ultra Sword during his duel with Alien Empera, he started to become more powerful than Belial himself. As the gap grew wider, Belial becomes more and more bitter eventually leading to trying to empower himself with the Plasma Spark which followed suit with his banishment from the Land of Light and merge with Reiblood to gain power to match his former friend.
* CastingGag: His voice actor in ''Series/UltramanZ'''s English dub previously voiced a [[Characters/JoJosBizarreAdventureDIO infamous antagonist]] from [[Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventure another series]] whose son becomes a protagonist.
* CastingAShadow: His influence and powers can cover things in a dark aura or even use their shadowy influence to make his beams red and black.
* CardCarryingVillain: After his corruption Belial doesn't even try to mask the fact that he's a remorseless evil and cruel bastard, delighting in his actions without much of a pretense of doing it for any reason besides personal gratification.
* CharacterBlog: Belial received an official one from Tsuburaya in the form of a website where he would answer questions of the viewers and tell facts about himself, the original website was shutdown when ''Ultraman Geed'' premiered but an [[https://web.archive.org/web/20170927111847/http://www.ultramanbelial.com/ archive]] of the site exists.
* TheChessmaster: His plan in ''Series/UltramanGeed'', It apparently involves collecting the Ultra Capsules, and it doesn't matter if it's [[HeadsIWinTailsYouLose Kei or his own son Riku doing the collecting.]]
* ClassicVillain: He carries many of the classic sins as his main motivators and personality traits such as {{pride}} in himself, [[DrivenByEnvy envy]] towards his best friend/eventual enemy Ultraman Ken/Father of Ultra, [[UnstoppableRage wrath]] at his many defeats and a colossal {{greed}} for power.
* TheCoatsAreOff: In ''Revenge of Belial'' once he decides to take on Zero seriously, he ditches his BadassCape and takes on the young Ultra warrior in a much fiercer fight than before.
* ColorMotifs: Red, black, orange and yellow. He temporarily adds green to the mixture in his tenure as Kaiser Belial due to association with the Emeralds of Planet Esmeralda but loses them afterwards
* ControlFreak: Belial is very obsessed with having absolute control over not only himself but also everything else and tends to lose his composture when things don't go according to plan. Even before his turn to evil, he had hints of this trait in regards to his desire for power and recognition.
* CoolShip: The Malebrandes, his base of operations in ''Revenge of Belial'', is a planet-sized spaceship that can attach itself to entire planets and has many factories, launching pads and systems inside to harvest celestial objects and produce legions of MechaMooks for him to use.
* TheCorrupter: His Reiblood genes allow him to channel their malice to turn other living beings evil or aggressive. Even after his final death, his body fragments known as Devil's Splinters can drive Kaiju berserk and send them on mindless rampages while forcefully empowering them.
* CreepyLongFingers: His claws are usually normal sized, but when he goes into battle mode they become rather long and creepy-looking. In his return in ''Film/UltramanZeroTheRevengeOfBelial'' his claws gain a red color and become permanently bigger. He returns to having mostly normal claws outside of battle later on.
* CurbStompBattle: He usually finds himself dishing these out, though a few times he was the one on the receiving end:
** During his first attack on the Land of Light he easily trounced Zoffy, Marie and Ken but was defeated with even more ease by Ultraman King, who effortlessly used his telekinesis to immobilize Belial and seal him inside of the Land of Light's moon for a thousand years.
** In his [[Film/MegaMonsterBattleUltraGalaxyLegends return]] he plowed through the entire Land of Light, defeating the Ultra Brothers, Mebius, Hikari and everyone else who fought him with ease. Father of Ultra in return dished out a big one against him, with Belial resorting to attack Ken's injuries left from his battle against Empera to gain the upper hand.
** He later received one from Ultraman Zero, after the latter defeated his 100 Monster Army. When he returns as Belyudra, he instead nearly defeats Zero and the rest of the Ultras and heroes fighting him with ease and requires a massive team effort to be defeated.
** In ''Film/UltramanZeroTheRevengeOfBelial'' he defeats and nearly kills Zero as Arch Belial by overpowering him and draining his lifeforce, requiring Glen Fire to save him.
** In ''Series/UltraZeroFight'' once he becomes Zero Darkness he easily defeats and kills the entire Ultimate Force Zero and in turn his spirit easily vanquished by Shining Zero.
** In ''Series/UltraFightOrb'' he kills (an admittedly weakened) Reibatos with a single Deathcium Beam which actually kills the up-to-this-point unkillable warrior for good.
** In ''Series/UltramanGeed'' once he becomes Ultraman Belial Atrocious he defeats Royal Megamaster, Zero Beyond and even Father of Ultra with minimal difficulty on his part.
* DarkIsEvil: His color scheme is red and black and he's a malevolent tyrant with plans of conquering or destroying the Multiverse.
* DeaderThanDead: His spirit gets obliterated by Shining Ultraman Zero in ''Ultra Zero Fight'', outright making him this... At least until Zero turned back time and undid the event and his previous death, restoring his body.
* DeathByIrony:
** Temporary example in ''Geed''. When he fights his son in episode 17, Geed obliterates him using Royal Mega Master, a form he accesses by using his (Belial's) Ultra Capsule in combination with Ultraman King's. Belial only survives by possessing Arie at the last second but would have died otherwise.
** In the finale of ''Geed'' he is killed off for good when his son destroys him with the Wrecking Burst, an attack that employs the combined energies of both his and the original Ultraman's signature beam while in a fit of rage.
* DefeatEqualsExplosion:
** Averted in ''Ultra Galaxy Legends'', as he is thrown into lava by Zero's Wide Shot and while an explosion is seen, he survives and proceeds to make a last ditch effort plan in the form of Belyudra.
** In ''Revenge of Belial'' a more justified example happens as he's hit by a fully powered Ultimate Zero Shot which creates an explosion from the inside out that vaporizes him and his entire army in one go.
** ''Geed'' has it happen again when he's defeated by Royal Megamaster Geed as Chimeraberus... Though he survived that one, then the finale has him exploding when he's overwhelmed by Geed's Wrecking Burst, and this time he dies for real.
* DemonicPossession: His merge with Alien Reiblood wasn't consentual at the beginning with him screaming in pain as Reiblood gave him his power and forcefully entered his body, but after a while of being under the tyrant's influence he willingly accepted it.
* {{Determinator}}: A villainous example, Belial ''will not'' stop at anything to get his revenge and conquer the Multiverse, no matter the cost or how much he suffers from the many battles he takes in and loses.
* DetrimentalDetermination: However, his determination eventually gets deconstructed in ''Ultraman Geed'' where we see that his determination to get his revenge has taken its toll on his sanity and person, essentially leaving him a shadow of his old self with nothing but personal vengeance as his motivation. In addition to blinding him to anything but the path of evil so much that he cannot be redeemed because he's so deadset on getting his way that he won't take standing down an option.
* DiabolicalMastermind: He's been behind many schemes and plots ever since his return, first by becoming an evil emperor and attempting to create a powerful enough army to conquer the Multiverse through sheer force, following up on that plan after it's thwarted with a plan to resume that and use the body of his powerful nemesis as means of becoming unstoppable that only backfires thanks to circumstances he could've not seen coming and culminating in a complex and nearly succesful gambit in ''Geed'' to make himself a God and get his revenge once and for all that required a massive team effort from the heroes, [[PhysicalGod Ultraman King]] himself included, to fully stop.
* DidntSeeThatComing: Often suffers losses because of things he either could not see coming or arrogantly failed to account for.
** In his original defeat, Zero was the key part and was ultimately an OutsideContextProblem up until that point, as Belial had no idea of Zero's existence, let alone knew about Zero's strength which proves enough to destroy his army and defeat him in a fair fight.
** In ''Revenge of Belial'', he did not see Zero obtaining the power of Ultraman Noa coming and neither saw coming that Mirror Knight would help Zero avoid getting blasted too early in his attacks by using illusions to fool Belial, leaving him wide open to be obliterated.
** In ''Ultra Zero Fight'', he wasn't expecting Zero to be able to fight off his DemonicPossession and is completely blindsided by the young Ultra obtaining a new form that allows him to purge the tyrant's spirit out of his body and then undo his teammates' deaths.
** During ''Geed'' he did not see coming that his clone and intended pawn would grow a mind and will of his own, eventually coming to oppose him. Nor he saw coming that his son's bonds and kindness would eventually lead to his victory against him.
* DontYouDarePityMe: He does not take kindly to other people pitying him or feeling empathy for his past, responding with violence to people's attempts at understanding him.
* DragonAscendant: Was originally a pawn of Reiblood during his original rampage and acted out on the advice of his spiritual source of power. By the time he escapes his prison, Reiblood's spirit is all but stated to be DeaderThanDead and thus Belial becomes the main threat to the Multiverse all on his own, though ''Geed'' implies that his actions were still driven by Reiblood's influence to some degree, better shown by Reiblood's spirit being purged out of his body by Geed in the finale.
* TheDreaded: Ever since his fall from grace Belial has made a fearsome reputation for himself, with even Father of Ultra dreading his return. His minions tend to be terrified of his wrath and innocents caught in his plans learn very quickly to be afraid of him. Even Zero, his personal nemesis who's beaten him several times, considers Belial his greatest fear.
* DrivenByEnvy: Belial's fall to evil started with him being jealous over Ken being promoted after defeating Empera and proceeding to grow stronger than himself in addition to winning the heart of Ultrawoman Marie, who he pinned after.
* DrunkWithPower: Belial initially ''didn't'' want to merge with Reiblood and the evil entity more or less forcefully possessed Belial and manipulated him, however Belial came to enjoy the power that he obtained and eventually willingly coopearated with Reiblood to get his revenge on the Land of Light.
[[/folder]]
[[folder:E-H]]
* EarthShatteringKaboom:
** In ''Revenge of Belial'' as Arch Belial he tries to perform one of these on Planet Esmerana with his fully powered Arch Deathcium Beam, purely to spite the Ultimate Force Zero. He only barely fails thanks to Mirror Knight's shields being held up by all 4 members of the Force up until Zero gains his [[SuperMode Ultimate form]]. Earlier in the movie, his space fleet succesfully caused this to an unnamed planet.
** The Crisis Impact of ''Geed'' involved a successful one with Belial developing a Dimensional Erradicator Bomb that started by destroying Earth and then followed suit by making the entire fabric of the Universe collapse, slowly destroying existence. He tries this again in the finale but is thankfully stopped before he can start putting the pieces of another Crisis Impact together.
* EmeraldPower: As Arc Belial he has the power of the Emerald Ore from Planet Esmeralda powering him up, which allows him to destroy entire planets with one attack. Furthermore, two colossal emerald crystals serve as his shoulder spikes.
* TheEmperor: In ''Revenge of Belial'' he is elevated to this status after founding the Belial Galactic Empire and conquering many galaxies as part of his larger plan to rule over the Multiverse.
* EntitledToHaveYou: Belial acted this way towards Marie in their youth. He doesn't take it well when she falls in love with Ken instead.
* EqualOpportunityEvil: Belial doesn't seems to mind who works for him as long as they do a good job, he's had many kinds of aliens serving him over the years including those from species that are sworn enemies of the Ultras and the human-like Kei Fukuide. However he is a narcissist that views everyone else as beneath him, so it's not really out of a lack of prejudice.
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: Seconds after being freed from his thousand-year prison by Alien Zarab and given back his Giga Battle Nizer, the first thing Belial does is to [[UngratefulBastard murder]] the alien that freed him just for suggesting that they team up to conquer the universe and boasts that only [[ICanRuleAlone he]] can take over. Showing us from the get-go that Belial is a power-hungry and selfish monster.
* EvenEvilCanBeLoved: His son, Riku seems to harbor a degree of love for him, hugging Belial after witnessing his memories of all the pain he's had in his many battles and resurrections, having a rather pained expression after killing Belial for good, and then wishing for Belial to rest in peace and trying unsuccessfully to get [[Series/UltramanZ Celebro]] to stop using his father's remains for his experiments and creations.
** In a minor note, his previous friends Ken/Father of Ultra and Marie/Mother of Ultra seemed distressed to watch him destroy their home and tried reasoning with him when he first attacked the Land of Light in revenge. Too bad he was too far gone to listen to them at that point.
* EvilCannotComprehendGood: In the series finale of ''Geed'' he receives the first show of affection and empathy ever since his turn to evil from his son, Riku/Geed, who begs him to stand down so they can finally stop fighting and ease Belial's pain and sorrow, the evil Ultraman is confused and baffled by this and after looking indecisive at first, continues his assault, ending with him obliterated for good when he loses his BeamOWar with Geed.
* EvilerThanThou: Proved to be this to the Alien Shadows offscreen at some point before ''Series/UltramanGeed''. In one of his bids for universal conquest, he apparently attacked their homeworld and devastated it to the point they're now scattered across the universe and (from their point of view) scraping the bottom of the barrel in regards to a new home to live in.
* EvilFeelsGood: Before his FaceHeelTurn he was perpetually unhappy at all points and very bitter about his life, post-turn to evil he instead a lot more darkly cheerful and generally derives pleasure and joy from the cruelty of his actions, though it is implied that he's not entirely happy with his actions.
* EvilFormerFriend: Was once Ken/Father of Ultra and Marie/Mother of Ultra's closest friend and even held feelings for the latter, until Ken's growing power, ascension to commander of the Garrison and winning Marie's heart drove him to resent them and eventually see them as enemies after his exile from the Land of Light.
* EvilIsBigger: He's fond of taking OneWingedAngel forms that are bigger than the heroes he fights, with the 4000-meter tall Belyudra being the most notable example. Even in his normal form, he has far more visible muscle mass than most Ultras and stands taller than Zero.
* EvilIsHammy: Belial is not shy about chewing the scenery once he cuts loose or even beforehand, he also gets very expressive in battle and is prone to screaming and laughing out loud a lot.
* EvilIsPetty: Belial won't miss a chance to make his opponents suffer for any perceived slights as much as possible, even if he has to target innocents whose only connection to him are their association with his foes. Even if it's a lowly Pigmon.
* EvilLaugh: Belial never misses the chance to let out devilish laughs at appropriate moments when he succeeds or when he's sadistically enjoying his evil actions.
* EvilMakeover: After his merge with Alien Reiblood he gained a brand-new appearance gaining a slouch, long sharp claws, a black and red color scheme, a monstrous face and a demonic body pattern.
* EvilOldFolks: In the present day he's essentially an angry old man who's held on to his grudge against those who he felt wronged him for thousands of years, he also regards most of his younger foes as foolish children or pesky teens compared to him.
* EvilOverlord: He became this in ''Revenge of Belial'' after founded an empire between the events of ''Ultra Galaxy Legends'' and that movie, an empire big enough to give him control over most of the Universe. Later instalments have him with smaller forces but still keeping the threat level of one.
* EvilPlan: He never appears without one.
** In ''Ultra Galaxy Legends'' his plan was to freeze the Land of Light by stealing the Plasma Spark, use the aforementioned artifact to resurrect his 100 Monster Army, send out an Alien Shaplay to eliminate survivors of his raid on [=M78=] and follow by taking over the Universe unopposed with his army.
** In ''Revenge of Belial'' he instead plots to destroy the Land of Light by creating special robotic forces with the powerful emeralds from a different dimension and then take over the whole Multiverse with his forces.
** ''Ultra Fight Zero'' has him ordering the Darkness Five to lure Zero into a trap meant to have Belial take over the former Ultra's body so he can remain on the physical plane and rebuild his empire to his former glory to continue his conquests.
** ''Geed'' has him sending out Kei Fukuide to gather Ultraman King's energy contained in the Childhood Energy and Capsules scattered throughout the Universe so as to empower himself with the old man's energy and not only attaining even more power than before but also taking out King forever by assimilating his scattered power in the process.
* TheExile: Was banished from the Land of Light for trying to steal the Plasma Spark out of a desire to get more powerful, which could've plunged the Land of Light into an eternal winter. Though he initially seemed to have come to hate his former home, ''Geed'' hints that he still longs for his home.
* {{Expy}}: Due to his overall design and aesthetics in his ultra form as well as their general quests for power and destruction, Belial could be seen as the Nebula M78 equivalent to [[Series/UltramanNexus Dark Zagi]].
** He's even more of an Expy of the very first true evil Ultra, Heller from ''Anime/TheUltraman'', who was also once an Ultra that fought for justice, but was banished for his lust for power, gave up his identity as an Ultra of Light and amassed a galactic empire to get revenge on his former allies and friends.
** Similarly, he is also an {{Expy}} of Thunder Arrow another evil Ultra from the manga ''Ultra Brothers' Story'', who similarly was banished from the Land of Light and returned with a Kaiju army for his vengeance, even killing Series/{{Ultraseven}} in his rampage before being taken down along with his army.
** His Arch Belial form is heavily based on [[Franchise/{{Godzilla}} SpaceGodzilla]], with two crystals on his shoulders and a "crown" with horns.
** Belial is also an expy to [[Franchise/StarWars Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader]], as both of them were once warriors of the light only to turn to the DarkSide due to their hunger for power and were engaged in conflict with their sons, the only difference is that Anakin redeems himself while Belial did not.
* FallenHero: Was previously an Ultra that fought alongside Ken, Marie and Zoffy against the forces of Alien Empera, unfortunately his desire for greater power inspired by witnessing Alien Empera's own and jealously towards Ken for becoming captain of the Space Garrison and winning Marie's heart all drove him to try and forcefully empower himself with the Plasma Spark, which led to his banishment from the Land of Light, which itself was followed by him being reached by Reiblood and merging with the ancient evil to become more powerful and conquer the Land of Light.
* FantasticRacism: Belial has a low view on humans, unlike his fellow Ultras he thinks little of them besides being primitive creatures. This prejudice usually extends to other species as well, though Belial won't mind using them as pawns in his plans.
* FatalFlaw: Ultimately, every single bad thing to ever happen to Belial is the fault of his {{Greed}}, Wrath, or {{Pride}}. He was greedy to the point of trying to steal the Plasma Spark for himself resulting in his banishment. He's too hateful to ever let go of his grudge even when his countless deaths and resurrections do nothing but continually make him suffer to the point of being tired with it all. Lastly, he's far too prideful to ever admit either of the above [[NeverMyFault were his own fault in the first place]].
* FreudianExcuse: One of Belial's reasons for his turn to evil is his massive inferiority complex, which only got excacerbated once Ken started to become stronger than him and got everything Belial wanted in life.
* FinishingMove: His signature and favorite attack is the Deathcium Burst, a stream of dark energy released from his arms forming a cross shape, not unlike the Spacium Beam. All of his forms include a variation of it as their own finishing form, though some fire it from different parts such as Arch Belial who fires the beam from his mouth.
* FusionDance: Overlapping with OneWingedAngel, he'll usually fuse with other beings to achieve more monstrous or powerful forms.
** In ''Film/MegaMonsterBattleUltraGalaxyLegends'' he fuses with all the Monster Graveyard's spirits into the 4,000 meter tall chimera Belyudra, with himself acting as the head and brain of the fused monster.
** In ''Series/UltraZeroFight'' he temporarily merges with the Darkness Armor in a gambit to take over Zero's body via DemonicPossession.
** Like Riku and Kei, he also has access to a Riser and uses Monster Capsules to fuse into him. The monsters that he makes up typically are made up the main kaiju that forms the bulk of the body and are part of the second name, while the other gives minor aesthetic changes. It should be noted that in the tie-in video games, Belial turns into all of the Fusion beasts, and Kei is not present. Demonstrated by his transformation into King Galactron in ''Ultra Festival 2017''.
*** ''[[Series/UltramanGinga Five King]]'' + ''[[Series/UltramanGaia Zogu (Second Form)]]'' = '''Chimeraberus'''
*** ''[[Series/UltramanMebius Alien Empera]]'' + ''[[Series/UltramanGinga Dark Lugiel]]'' = '''Ultraman Belial Atrocious'''
** ''Ultraman Fusion Fight!'' Game Forms
*** ''[[Series/{{Ultraman}} Gomora]]'' + ''[[Series/UltramanTaro Tyrant]]'' = '''Strong Gomorant'''
*** ''[[Franchise/UltramanZero Arch Belial]]'' + ''[[Series/UltramanOrb Maga-Orochi]]'' = '''Maga-Maga Arch Belial'''.
* GalacticConqueror: During the first film he aims to be this, starting by destroying the Land of Light, then trying to amass an army of Kaiju to assist him in his goals of taking over the Universe unopposed once the other Ultras are all killed. He expands his goals towards [[MultiversalConqueror multiversal conquest]] in ''Film/UltramanZeroTheRevengeOfBelial'' where he builds a large army in an alternate Universe with the goal of eventually conquering all Universes, starting by destroying [=M78=], as he's already pretty much succeeded at taking the Universe he formed his army in save for a few pockets of resistance that he was in the process of crushing before Zero came along.
* TheGhost: As Belial is already dead since ''Geed'', he was only mentioned in name by Riku, Z and Zero (in the voice drama only) in ''Z'', his only real appearances are in flashbacks but none in the present.
* GlowingEyesOfDoom: Usually his eyes will remain normally lit, but sometimes they will take a notable higher glow, such as in the final scene of ''Film/MegaMonsterBattleUltraGalaxyLegends'' where they lit up to show us that [[NotQuiteDead he isn't down for the count]] after Belyudra's destruction.
* GodhoodSeeker: His quest for power gradually escalates to this, as he seeks to become powerful enough to become a God and rule over the Multiverse unopposed.
* GoodScarsEvilScars: In ''Film/UltramanZeroTheRevengeOfBelial'' he has a few nasty ones left from his defeat in his debut at the hands of Zero. He loses them in future appearances after his original body is completely destroyed and he is resurrected.
* GrandTheftMe: In ''Ultra Zero Fight'' he takes over Zero by imparting his ghostly essence into him, becoming ''Zero Darkness'' up until Zero explunges him with his Shining Form. He later does this to Arie in ''Series/UltramanGeed'' to survive Geed Royal Megamaster's ultimate attack that seemingly kills him.
* GratuitousGerman: In ''Revenge of Belial'' he's renamed himself "''Kaiser''" Belial, rather than the usual Japanese word for Emperor "''Kōtei''".
* GreaterScopeVillain: A few times.
** In ''Film/UltraGalaxyLegendGaidenUltramanZeroVsDarklopsZero'' the BigBad, Darklops Zero, is one of his many MechaMooks who simply found himself in the alternate Universe Zero and Rei find him in. Darklops Zero acts entirely under Belial's protocols once it breaks free of the Salome's control.
** In ''Series/UltraFightOrb'' his resurrection is Reibato's goal and the driving force of the latter's actions. Though he had already resurrected thanks to Zero's Shining Star Drive and finishes off Reibatos himself.
** The posthumous one for ''Series/UltramanZ'', he's been long-dead by then, but parts of his body that he lost throughout his fights became the Devil's Splinters that serve as the driving force of the series' problems, including Z's problems with Beliarok as the sentient sword is ultimately a clone of Belial of sorts and its aggressive and bloodthirsty personality that seeks out the fiercest opponent leads to trouble.
* GreenEyedMonster: Once Ken started becoming more powerful than he was and managed to win over Marie's heart, Belial began to grow envious of his friend's success, driving him to a murderous rage and eventually to try and compensate for his own perceived lack of power by taking the Plasma Spark.
* GoodScarsEvilScars: Spots red-colored volcanic vein-like scars in his return in ''Revenge of Belial'', left behind by Zero after their first battle.
* HeadsIWinTailsYouLose: The Crisis Impact in ''Geed'' more or less was done to force this trope on the Ultras as a whole. Either they lose by letting him destroy the universe or he wins by having Ultraman King merge himself with the universe and leave his energies scattered and ready for his plans to empower himself with them by absorbing them, which is what ultimately happens and nearly turns into a total victory for him.
* HeroKiller: As one of the franchise's most powerful antagonists, he usually proves his might this way.
** Dishes a massive CurbStompBattle to the Land of Light and comes close to killing them all by freezing the entire planet by stealing the Plasma Spark. In the climax he kills Ultraseven when the latter [[TakingTheBullet shields the ZAP Spacy Crew]] from Belial's attacks while mortally wounded.
** In ''Series/UltraZeroFight'' as Zero Darkness he killed the entire Ultimate Force Zero except for Moroboshi the Pigmon, who is saved when Zero regains control of his body at the last second, achieves his Shining Form and purges Belial out of his body before using the Shining Star Drive to rewind time and resurrect his fallen comrades.
** In ''Series/UltramanGeed'' he did one of these prior to the start of the series in the Crisis Impact, where he once again plowed through an army of Ultra Warriors, defeated Zero and the Ultra Brothers then destroyed ''Geed's'' Earth and nearly the entire Universe. Furthermore, his actions put [[PhysicalGod Ultraman King]] out of commission to prevent the Universe's destruction by scattering his power across it and very nearly kills King for good when he begins absorbing his scattered energy to empower himself.
* HistoricalHeroUpgrade: In ''Geed'' Kei has written novels starring Belial as the heroic protector and Zero as the villainous conqueror.
* HostileShowTakeover:
** His website blog featured a parody of this with Belial "advertising" ''Ultraman Belial: The Movie Super Strongest! Belial Galactic Empire'', a film where he "heroically" defends the peace of his empire from the evil invader, Ultraman Zero.
** In ''Ultraman Retsuden'' he appeared in the 100th episode alongside the Darkness Five to take over the narration and [[BreakingTheFourthWall complain about the runtime]].
[[/folder]]
[[folder:I-R]]
* ICanRuleAlone: His EstablishingCharacterMoment has him kill an Alien Zarab that wanted to partner up with him, all because Belial would rather not acknowledge anyone as his equal.
* IconicSequelCharacter: With how important a character he's become to the mythos as a whole, it's easy to forget Belial wasn't formally introduced until 2009, well over 40 years after the franchise first began.
* IndustrializedEvil: During his tenure as Kaiser Belial his empire was very much industrial-oriented, with him decimating any life-filled planets to obtain their supplies of Planet Esmeralda's emerald ore and with his forces being mechanical soldiers with only a few organic commanders.
* InferioritySuperiorityComplex: It's heavily implied that deep beneath his egocentrical personality lies a vulnerable, self-loathing and insecure Ultra who compensates for his perceived weaknesses by attaining power through any means. His banishment from the Land of Light also appears to be a legitimate point of sorrow for him, and it's implied that he only scoffs at it due to masking his grief over being banished from his home and deep down really wants to go back.
* ItOnlyWorksOnce: In his rematch with Zero when the Ultra confronts him in ''Revenge of Belial'' he shrugs off and overwhelms all of Zero's previous techniques that managed to put him down in ''Ultra Galaxy Legends''. He even lampshades this after shrugging off Zero's firey kick.
->''"That won't work on me."''
* ItsAllAboutMe: Belial's sole motivation throughout his life has been to become stronger and get everything he desires without giving a hoot about anyone else's needs. When he turns to villainy, he views all his servants as disposable pawns and does not return any loyalty given to him by them, killing and disposing of them when he feels like it or no longer has any use of them. To drive this point, his first action in ''Ultra Galaxy Legends'' is to kill the Zarab that freed him and tried to team up with him, as he doesn't likes the idea of sharing any of the glory.
* IveComeTooFar: His final moments imply that this is the case for him, he really just wants to rest from his countless resurrections and go back to his home in the Land of Light, but after all his atrocities he's committed he simply feels that going forward with his villainy is the only way to go, and has no intention of going back to the light anymore.
* {{Jerkass}}: Even before his turn to evil, Belial was always quite the asshole to everyone else, better demonstrated by his aggressive attitude towards his former best friend, Ken, simply because Ken started to become stronger than him. This trait still is present in him when he becomes a villain, being downright nasty even to his own minions and quite rude to everyone.
* JerkassHasAPoint: In the War against Alien Empera, Belial was shown to be merciless and ruthless against his opponents, refusing to spare a single one even when they surrendered, but he was not wrong in pointing out that they were invaders attacking their home and given that many Ultras died in the War his excessive violence in fighting isn't entirely unfounded. Even Ken, after briefly berates him for executing the surrendering enemy, didn't provide further counterarguments when Belial accuses him of naivety.
* JokerImmunity: No matter how many times Zero kills him, Belial always finds ways to return and menace everyone again. It takes being killed inside of another dimension and having his spirit be stuck between dimensions for his death to actually stick for good. And even then an alternate universe version of him ends up supplanting him not long after thanks to [[Series/UltraGalaxyFightTheAbsoluteConspiracy Absolute Tartarus]].
* KickTheDog: While the Zarab that frees him wasn't exactly a good guy to begin with, he was rather respectful and polite to Belial, going through the trouble of giving the tyrant his freedom and even his signature weapon and only asked for an alliance in return with no strings attached, Belial kills him for daring to try and suggest sharing the spoils of conquering the Universe in an act of unnecessary cruelty.
* KilledOffForReal: Geed killed him while between dimensions to make sure even if he ''did'' somehow survive, he's not coming back. Notably this time it appears to have ''stuck'', as his only reappearance since has been a mindless replica of him and the closest he gets to reappearing afterwards is through remains of his body left from all his battles and a sword with his face (that still isn't the real deal and is more neutral than evil). When he ''does'' reappear, it's only due to Absolute Tartarus going back and time and recruiting his younger self before he even ''became'' the corrupted Ultra we know, and thus present Belial is ''still'' dead.
* KnightOfCerebus: Belial lacks any comedic traits and is always presented as a serious threat that can darken the mood of whatever installment he appears in. Notably, ''Ultraman Geed'' is one of the darkest series of the New Generation Heroes and he's the BigBad in it.
* LackOfEmpathy: Belial is only interested in his own feelings and personal satisfaction, all without the slightest shred of empathy for anyone, not even his former friends, son or entire planets.
* LastSecondChance: Essentially gets on in ''Geed'' when his son tries to empathize with his pain and sorrow, Belial rejects his son's kindness and tries to attack him one last time, leading to his death.
* LeaderFormsTheHead: As Belyudra, Belial forms the behemoth monster's brain and commands all its actions.
* LegacyCharacter: Subverted; through Geed and Greeza's needle, he was given a clone crafted into a talking space needle called the Beliarok, but the latter is neither Belial's reincarnation nor an inheritor to his name.
* LukeIAmYourFather: He's the father of Riku Asakura[=/=]Series/UltramanGeed who initially had no idea of who was his father. Though he himself never has to reveal it to his son.
* MadeOfEvil: ''Ultraman Taiga'' and ''Z'' reveal that fragments of Belial's body are evil-inducing artifacts capable of turning Kaiju into mindless berserkers and corrupt living beings. If used to create a clone of Belial or a Kaiju, they'll turn out evil or at the very least extremely aggressive.
* MadeOfIron: Just about nothing short of the most extremely powerful attacks can cause meaningful harm to Belial let alone kill him. For an example, even in his first outing he survived the explosion of the 4,500 meters tall Belyudra while at the epicenter of it and only got scars from Zero's Plasma Spark-boosted sword which helped destroy the chimera.
* MeaningfulName: "Belial" is considered a synonym for The Devil in Jewish and Christian texts. Fittingly enough, Ultraman Belial himself is a SatanicArchetype who has embodied all Seven Deadly Sins throughout his life and is clad in black and red colors higlighting his evil nature. "Belial" also means "worthless" in Hebrew, fitting his InferioritySuperiorityComplex.
* MilesToGoBeforeISleep: A dark variation: Geed implies after seeing into his mind that Belial is ''tired'' from his endless cycle of resurrecting, but won't let himself die until he's gotten his revenge.
* MirrorCharacter: He and Ultraman Tregear are both disgraced Ultras from the Land of Light after becoming disillusioned by their ideologies. Belial would go on in his attempts to conquer the universe until he is stopped by his son, Ultraman Geed. Tregear would go on to commit a number of atrocities across the galaxy to enforce his contradicting beliefs of light and darkness and had run-ins with the New Generation Heroes until he is beaten by the combined might of the Tri-Squad and their New Generation predecessors. Both of their Parallel Isotope counterparts would eventually meet in ''Series/UltraGalaxyFightTheAbsoluteConspiracy'' as members of The Kingdom.
* MonsterLord: His Giga Battle Nizer allows him to control up to 100 Kaiju and Aliens, ''Ultra Galaxy Legends'' is the only time where he employs this ability, however.
* MyDeathIsJustTheBeginning: Belial's demise in ''Ultraman Geed'' didn't actually put the entire galaxy at peace. As ''Ultraman Z'' revealed, Belial's scattered remains from all of the wounds he sustained from his previous fights unleashes the Devil Splinter and throw the multiverse into a state of disorder once more.
* NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast: His name is ''Belial'', a powerful demon that is sometimes also a name of the devil himself. His SuperMode is called Ultraman Belial ''Atrocious''.
* NeverMyFault: He blames everyone else but himself for his own actions and their consequences, which in turn feeds his ego and desire for revenge.
* NiceJobFixingItVillain: In ''Revenge of Belial'' he sends out three of his Darklopses to attack the Land of Light, this one decision leads to Zero tracking him down and eventually screwing up his plans, ending his empire as well.
* NoBodyLeftBehind: Ultimate Zero obliterated him in his Arch Belial form, leaving no trace of him behind, as a result he ends up a revenant spirit and forced to take other bodies to remain on the physical plane.
* NoNonsenseNemesis: When he really feels like it, he can be this as he'll do anything to ensure his opponents are dead or truly unable to stop him.
** In ''Ultra Galaxy Legends'' he isn't content with just freezing the Land of Light as he sends out a Reionics Alien Shaplay (who commands a Black King) with 3 Kaiju (Salamandora, Bemstar and Dorako) as backup to kill any survivors; when ZAP Spacy gets involved and are far away from the Monster Graveyard, Belial sends out an Alien Zetton and Narse to kill them.
** In ''Ultra Zero Fight'' once he becomes Darkness Zero he proceeds to quickly kill off the Ultimate Force Zero's strongest members leaving Moroboshi the Pigmon for last and only taking his time with the little guy out of sick pleasure in killing it.
* NonstandardCharacterDesign: Following his turn to evil his eyes are neither round nor blocky like past Ultras and his mouth is much bigger, akin to that of a shark, and almost always opens when he talks in addition to having notable sharp teeth.
* NoSell: In ''Revenge of Belial'' he shrugs off Zero's firey kick after blocking it. Even remarking that [[ItOnlyWorksOnce the attack]] doesn't works on him, anymore that is.
* NotQuiteDead: He is very fond of this trope. First, the Ultras thought him dead after Belyudra's destruction, he survived (albeit heavily scarred) and proceeded to plot his revenge, Zero obliterates him in his [[Film/UltramanZeroTheRevengeOfBelial second]] outing making sure this does not repeat, though even then Belial finds a way to persist as a spirit and return in ''Series/UltraZeroFight'' before Zero obliterates his spirit as Shining Ultraman Zero, though later unwittingly resurrects him when he used the Shining Star Drive to resurrect his deceased teammates. In ''Series/UltramanGeed'' he also turns out alive after Geed Royal Megamaster seemingly obliterates him for good mid-series, having possessed Arie at the last second. It ends up finally subverted after Geed kills him in the final battle, as even several series later Belial is still KilledOffForReal.
* ObviouslyEvil: Post-HeelFaceTurn he's shed any outwardly appearance of a benevolent Ultra in favor of an intimidating red/black color scheme with orange/red eyes and long sharp claws along with a slight hunch.
* OffingTheOffspring: Attempted to kill his son, Geed, multiple times as a result of the latter's defiance of him and his plans. His most notable moment of this is his attempts to devour his son and absorb his power into himself as Chimeraberus.
* OffscreenMomentOfAwesome: Has plenty of these in-between his appearances.
** In the years between ''Film/MegaMonsterBattleUltraGalaxyLegends'' and ''Film/UltramanZeroTheRevengeOfBelial'' he managed to go from having no armies or resources as well as being left and stranded on outer space to commanding a galactic-spanning empire along with a much more massive and deadly army than his previous one.
** In-between ''Series/UltraFightOrb'' and ''Series/UltramanGeed'' he caused the Crisis Impact, a massive battle between a new army he made and the Ultras of the Land of Light that ended with him defeating all his opposition and destroying ''Geed'''s Earth before faking his death, only glimpses of it are shown in ''Geed'' and the details of it aren't developed as well.
* OhCrap:
** In ''Revenge of Belial'' he gets a good one when he realizes that Mirror Knight has fooled him with an illusion of Ultimate Zero, with the real deal being right behind him and about to obliterate him with the Final Ultimate Zero.
** ''Ultra Zero Fight'' has an even more spectacular one after Zero unlocks his Shining Form and prepares to vaporize Belial's soul out of existence, Belial can only run away in vain from the newly-gained power of his adversary while visibly terrified.
** In ''Geed'' he gets his last ever one seconds before his son's Wrecking Burst overpowers his Deathcium Burst and obliterates him for good.
* OmnicidalManiac: Belial in his latest appearances shifted his goals from outright conquest to straight-up omnicide out of pure rage over constant defeats.
* OneWingedAngel: Does this practically OnceAnEpisode when his options to win are running out.
** In ''Ultra Galaxy Legends'' he merges with all of the souls in the Monster Graveyard to form the 4,000 meter tall chimera, Belyudra.
** In ''Revenge of Belial'' he becomes the enormous Arch Belial by consuming the entirety of his supplies of emerald ore.
** In Geed he becomes Chimeraboros by employing the Five King and Zogu Second Form capsules. Later he gets a more downplayed example in Ultraman Belial Atrocious, who remains mostly humanoid but has notable body distortions and a far more ghastly appearance than even his base form.
* OrcusOnHisThrone: During ''Revenge of Belial'' he spends most of his time barking orders at his minions and only takes action once Zero meets him personally.
* OminousLatinChanting: His leitmotifs ([[Film/UltramanZeroTheRevengeOfBelial Kaiser Belial, Belial Empire and Arch Belial's Theme]], [[Series/UltramanGeed Belial - Resurrection, Belial - Superior, Belial - Appearance and Belial - Advance]]) all have a haunting chorus in their backgrounds.
* OrcusOnHisThrone: Often sits back to let his minions do the work for him when he isn't actively leading his forces.
** {{Downplayed}} in ''Revenge of Belial'', while the film has him sit on his throne for most of the film while his minions collect the Emerald Ore, Belial himself does take some time to supervise his Darklops factory's progress so as to prepare his forces for deployment in the Land of Light.
** In ''Geed'' it's his [[TheDragon Dragon]], Kei Fukuide, who does most of the job of obtaining King's energy for him and challenging Geed to prepare the young Ultra's energy to be used by Belial.
* OriginsEpisode: "The Divergence" from ''The Absolute Conspiracy'' can be considered this for him, depicting Belial in his youth when he was a regular Ultra and depicting the process of his turn to evil.
* OutOfContinues: ''Series/UltramanGeed'' ends with the heroes sending him and Geed into the space between dimensions where Geed kills him so he's unlikely to revive and even if he does, he's now trapped there. This time [[KilledOffForReal it seems to have stuck.]]
* TheParagonAlwaysRebels: Before his turn to evil he was considered a respectable powerful young Ultra, but being second best to Ken drove him to a jealous rage and eventually set him down the path of evil after he tried to take the Plasma Spark to empower himself.
* ParentsAsPeople: [[VillainRespect He does show some sense of acknowledgement, and even pride, towards his son Geed despite him being a hero that opposes him]] that his servant Kei Fukuide created, that said its [[AmbiguousSituation unclear]] how much of this is genuine pride for Geed as his own person or if its just pride out of Geed technically being an extension of his being. [[BadBoss His treatment of his loyal servant Kei on the other hand...]]
* PayEvilUntoEvil: Back when he was on the side of good he would not hold back or show mercy to his opponents, he defends himself by stating that they were invaders attacking the Ultras' homeworld and killing fellow Ultras, that said he usually did this by mercilessly killing even opponents that surrendered which even Ken found excessive.
** Killing a near-dead person that was trying to help resurrect him would be utterly petty even for him, but his victim, Reibatos, wasn't exactly a good guy to begin with as he planned to control the 100 Monster Army to conquer the universe for himself and only tried resurrecting Belial as a last resort to screw the Ultras over so rather than a full-blown KickTheDog, his killing of the Reionics warrior turns into this.
** In Geed he does this twice, killing an alien that was trying to murder his son Geed, and later he betrays Kei Fukuide and leaves him to die. Kei had just stabbed Belial's current host in the gut while Belial was still merged with her, so Kei brought it on himself.
* PerpetualSmiler: After his transformation into the evil Ultra he is nowadays, his default face never seems to lose its SlasherSmile, even when transformed into stronger forms the grin remains.
* PersonOfMassDestruction: Even when left to his own devices, Belial can wreck havoc across entire dimensions with his actions and decimate entire planets in the wake of his conquests. And this is when he's not augmenting himself with stronger forms or using artifacts to spread further ruin. His most notable feats of destruction include almost obliterating Planet Esmeralda in one blast as Arch Belial (only stopped by Mirror Knight's shields being held up by the entire Ultimate Force Zero... And even them stray parts of his beam were still powerful enough to blast apart large pieces of land with explosions big enough to be seen from space) and his Dimensional Erradication Bomb, that threatened to destroy ''Geed'''s universe and likely all concepts within it, requiring Ultraman King to merge with all of it to avoid this fate.
* PhysicalGod: Not always the case for him, but throughout his many returns he went from simply being freakishly strong to becoming a near god-like foe. His transformations are almost always far above anything the heroes can do and usually requires an equally godly power to be taken down. The biggest case of this is his Atrocious form, where King's power and the Empera/Lugiel capsules make him powerful enough to trounce almost everything the heroes throw at him; he is only barely beaten by a massive group effort that only worked thanks to Ultraman King's interference.
* PsychopathicManchild: His motivations, as well as Flaws, makes him this seeing as how his StartOfDarkness was rooted out of Jealousy towards Ken. And he has a [[HairTriggerTemper Short fuse]] every time he loses. He is nothing more than a whiny little brat in an adult's body ranting about how he should have been the one to have everything.
* ThePowerOfHate: One of the reasons he keeps coming back over and over aside from his powers is his unending hatred of his foes and desire to get even with them at all costs, and he won't rest until he's either killed or vindicates his hatred.
* PutTheLaughterInSlaughter: Belial will often burst into psychotic laughter when performing terrible deeds as a sign of his enjoyment of the situation. Most notably in ''Revenge of Belial'' he laughs evilly as he attempts to corrupts Mirror Knight into his evil servant.
* PutThemAllOutOfMyMisery: When Geed sees his memories, one of the things he realizes is deep down, Belial is filled with as much sorrow as he is rage over his banishment and is ''tired'' from his countless resurrections, but too consumed by his grudge to ever let go and pass on. Belial makes no attempt to dispute the idea, which paints his [[OmnicidalManiac attempted destruction of the universe]] in a [[TakingYouWithMe rather different light..]]
* RankScalesWithAsskicking: He's been the leader of several groups and in all of them he's always the most powerful of all threats faced by the heroes.
* RapePillageAndBurn: Excluding the first part, this is pretty much his MO in just about everything: he or his forces travel to an inhabited planet, raze it to the ground and take whatever valuable resources they can leaving everything in their path barren and destroyed. In ''Geed'' we're shown that in the aftermath of these conquests many aliens were left homeless and the entirety of the Alien Shadows of ''Geed'''s universe were forced to seek out other worlds to live in after Belial decimated their homeworld.
* RedAndBlackAndEvilAllOver: Like [[Series/UltramanNexus Dark Zagi]] his color scheme is predominantly red and black, highlighting his status as an evil Ultra. He keeps this scheme even when taking other stronger forms.
* RedemptionRejection: He's given up on the idea of going back to the light a long time ago, anytime someone tries to get through to him or get him to repent he will reject their help violently.
* RedIsViolent: Belial is clad in a bright red complimented with black and he's a violent evil being who enjoys causing destruction and relishes on the act.
* ReportsOfMyDeathWereGreatlyExaggerated: In ''Series/UltramanGeed'' he is believed dead after the Crisis Impact, only for him to show up alive and well mid-series, having faked his death to go unnoticed by the Ultras while Kei did the job of collecting Capsules for him.
* ResurrectiveImmortality: He keeps coming back this way, thanks to Reiblood's powers even being reduced to a mere spirit can't stop him for long before he finds a way to become corporeal again. The only times where this was actually averted were when Zero obliterated his spirit with his Shining form, though this ended undone by Zero reversing time afterwards and when Geed kills him between dimensions, leaving his spirit stuck between them and therefore unable to ever return even if he resurrected in some way.
* {{Retcon}}: He is the subject of one in Riku's flashback when he explains the origin of Devil Splinter, being stated to be pieces of Belial's flesh laying around back when he sustained injuries during his active days fighting. During the flashback, an improvised scene from ''Film/MegaMonsterBattleUltraGalaxyLegends'' was demonstrated where Taro managed to shoot his Storium Ray to Belial's shoulder despite the original movie showing that Belial perfectly avoided the attack without even a slight scratch.
* ReturningBigBad: After a long 4 year absence since ''Ultra Zero's Fight'' post-credits scene, Belial returned to the position of BigBad (as well as entering his last-ever outing) for ''Ultraman Geed'', revealing the brand-new plan he had in mind since before his resurrection.
* {{Revenge}}: His main motivation throughout all his appearances, outside of ambition, is to get revenge on those who he feels have wronged him. First, he desired it against the Land of Light for exiling him after he tried to take the Plasma Spark, after he was defeated by Ultraman Zero he extended this grudge to Zero for it, in ''Geed'' he also takes the chance to try and get this on Ultraman King, the one who defeated him in his first rampage, nearly succeeding at it by absorbing his energy after getting the old man to put himself out of commission stopping the Crisis Impact.
** RevengeBeforeReason: His motivation is revenge on the Land of Light for his banishment...which was his own fault in the first place. Even as he grows tired of countless resurrections, he keeps going on the account of wanting his vengeance badly.
[[/folder]]
[[folder:S-Z]]
* {{Sadist}}: Belial takes immense pleasure in making his foes suffer, and he also enjoys the sheer vindication it provides him. He won't waste chances to make people miserable when possible.
* SatanicArchetype: His pride and greed caused him to try and steal the Land of Light's artificial sun for himself, resulting in him being cast out and ultimately sealed away by the Ultra's equal of God, likewise his color scheme is red and black with many of his OneWingedAngel forms all having a satanic feel to them (Belyudra outright looks like the devil; complete with three tails; Arch Belial has devil horns and is monstrous in appearance). Heck, his remains are called the ''Devil's'' Splinters.
* SealedEvilInACan: Ultraman King defeated him and created the moon to imprison him in it. He presumably would've been forever imprisoned hadn't he been freed by an [[TooDumbToLive foolish Alien Zarab]].
* SevenDeadlySins: Has embodied them all at some point in his life, if not always.
** {{Pride}}: Belial is a massive narcissist that views himself as the perfect being. The thought of anyone surpassing him is a big BerserkButton for him and is part of what drove him to turn evil.
** [[GreenEyedMonster Envy]]: Belial has always resented and envied those stronger than him or those who get the things which he desired. He developed a burning hatred for his best friend, Ultraman Ken/Father of Ultra, because the latter was stronger than him, became the captain of the Ultra Garrison and won Ultrawoman Marie/Mother of Ultra's heart; all of which Belial himself desired.
** [[HairTriggerTemper Wrath]]: Adding to the above, Belial is easily angered and never controls his outburst or barely tries to before letting loose. His immense wrath only gets worse as his defeats pile up and he begins to go gradually more and more insane.
** [[VillainousGlutton Gluttony]]: Belial has no concept of self-control about "consuming" power. In ''Revenge of Belial'' he mutates his own body as a result of absorbing all the Emerald Ore his troops gathered, purely to kill Ultraman Zero with excessive force.
** {{Greed}}: He only cares about obtaining anything he desires such as power. He does not have any moral limits as to what he'll do to get it, at least after his turn to evil.
** {{Sloth}}: For all of Belial's talk about wanting to become stronger, he is quite prone to being lazy and inactive instead having his minions do most of the work before swooping in and taking all the spoils for himself.
** {{Lust}}: A lesser one but his affections for Marie were shallow at best and straight-up predatory at worst, Belial only desired her because she was a "fine woman" that he felt he deserved. Her marriage to Ken further added to his jealously towards his friend.
* ShadowArchetype: An almost literal shadow at that. Belial is actually a reflection of Zero (young, powerful, boisterous and full of potential but is also a power hungry person who tries to touch the Plasma Spark due to a feeling of inferiority and insecurities) and is also what Zero could have been if Seven wasn't there to stop him and sent off to be trained by Leo.
** Belial's got a positive example in his AntiAntiChrist son Geed. Geed is what Belial would have been as a kind-hearted hero who actually cared about people other than himself.
* ShockAndAwe: One of the abilities of his Giga Battle Nizer is to launch powerful beams of energy that take a lightning-like form.
* SkullForAHead: In his [[spoiler: Belial Atrocious]] form, where his head more or less resemble an Ultra's skull with glowing bright orange eyes.
* SlasherSmile: Always sports one of these after his merge with Reiblood, complimenting his already intimidating design.
* TheSociopath: A power-hungry EvilOverlord whose [[AmbitionIsEvil ambition]] knows no bounds, Belial has the hallmarks of a classic sociopath. Let's see... an [[{{Pride}} egotistical]] tyrant who will [[TheUnfettered stop at nothing]] until he gets what he wants, possessing utter LackOfEmpathy and no conscience for his crimes, felt [[EntitledToHaveYou entitled to have Marie]] in his youth because she was a "fine woman" in his eyes, and finally a vengeful and {{sadist}}ic streak to the point he'll lash out at anyone who bruised his ego with murderous intent. All check.
* SoreLoser: He never takes defeat well, as his increasingly unhinged plans and degrading sanity after countless defeats can attest to.
* StartOfDarkness: While being forcefully merged with Reiblood was the start of his reign of terror as a Dark Giant, witnessing Alien Empera's power is the event that sowed the seeds for his eventual action of trying to steal the Plasma Spark and all that followed suit.
* StepfordSmiler: When Geed sees inside his mind, he discovers that as much as Belial tries to hide it with glee in his actions, deep down he's a miserable, tired Ultra who misses his home and is tired of coming back from the dead only to be killed again in what appears to be an endless cycle, but is too prideful to ever admit that all of his suffering was his own fault.
* StrongAndSkilled: Belial might favor physical strength and overwhelming power above all things, but he's no unskilled foe as despite being AlwaysSecondBest to Ken, he was nonetheless still a terrific powerhouse with a lot of potential that spent years training in the Space Garrison and participated in conflicts such as the Ultimate War against Alien Empera. He often trounces his foes through a combination of his skills as an Ultra and his massive strength.
* SuperMode: In ''Geed'' he obtains the all-mighty form Belial Atrocious, by using the Alien Empera and Dark Lugiel capsules along with Kei's Strum Organ and Ultraman King's energy, in this form he's at his most powerful and only barely fails in his plans thanks to a massive team effort of the Ultras.
* SuperpowerLottery: Belial is armed with lots of powerful techniques in addition to his classic Ultraman powers (flight, super strength, beams) such as mind control through his Reionics essence, can generate lightning from his body, survive as a spirit, employ telekinesis and absorb materials and energy into himself.
* SuperStrength: Comes with being an Ultraman, naturally, in ''Ultra Galaxy Legends'' he shows enough strength to toss Ultraman Mebius from the Land of Light's ground to outer space with the Giga Battle Nizer and is easily able to manhandle almost every other Ultra in a physical fight even when outnumbered.
* SuperToughness: It's one thing to defeat Belial in a fight, it's another very different thing to kill him outright (and making sure he dies for good is even harder). Standing at the epicenter of the explosion of the mountain-sized Belyudra did not kill him and didn't even left a dent in his body (though Zero's sword did leave scars). In future appearances his toughness only gets much more troublesome for the heroes to deal with such as ''Revenge of Belial'' where he as Arch Belial is able to resist the planet-destroying power of Zero at first and requires a fully-powered shot of the Ultimate Aegis to finally die. When he becomes Atrocious in ''Geed'' he is able to take just about everything the heroes throw at him without effort, and only manages to lose when he's depowered by losing part of his power and then bum-rushed by the King-boosted Ultraman Geed and four copies of him in his other forms with a simultaneous finishing beam onslaught, and even that only manages to destroy his Giga Battle Nizer and bring him back to base form, at which that point Geed needs a rage-boosted fully powered Wrecking Burst to finally end Belial.
** Belial summoned a universe destroying bomb during the prologue of Geed, and was at the epicenter of the explosion when said bomb went off. He's alive and well by the time of the series beginning, which means either his shield is that powerful or he is that powerful. The show doesn't confirm either terrifying possibility.
* SwissArmyWeapon: His Giga Battle Nizer can do almost anything Belial wants it to, from being a long range attack weapon with laser beams to nab foes at a distance, a good battering tool for when foes get up-close, employ electric whips to grab and toss his opponents around, control Kaiju and summon them at will, manipulate deceased souls and more.
* TakeOverTheWorld: After merging with Reiblood, he desires to take over the Land of Light and eventually the Universe.
* ThisWasHisTrueForm: Shortly before he's killed by Geed, Geed's act of compassion manages to temporarily restore his mental projection to his original, uncorrupted form. It's heavily implied Geed purged Reiblood's spirit out of Belial somehow, which would allow Belial to die for good.
* TokenEvilTeammate: His VillainEpisode in ''Series/UltraGalaxyFightTheAbsoluteConspiracy'' shows that Belial barely counted as a good guy to begin with when he stood with the Land of Light. To wit, back during Alien Empera's invasion of the Land of Light, he simply kills the Emperor of Darkness' surrendering lackeys with a rather flimsy justification, even after said lackeys arguing that they were [[ForcedIntoEvil forced by Empera to take part in the invasion]], then berates Ken for his supposed naivety.
* TragicVillain: In spite of his atrocities, the finale of ''Geed'' shows that deep beneath all the evil bravado stands a broken and homesick person who's simply too angry at his misfortunes to turn back. It's also implied that his merge with Reiblood wasn't voluntary at first and it's only when he was prompted to attack in revenge that he actually began to enjoy it.
* TrulySingleParent: Geed was created using his DNA and that's about it on his part.
* UnderestimatingBadassery: This tends to be his crux.
** He underestimated Ultraman Zero severely in ''Ultra Galaxy Legends'', being confident that his Monster Army or himself would take him down, he found himself beaten and his army destroyed for his troubles. He doesn't learns his lesson in future instalments, often believing that once he puts Zero on the ropes he's outright beaten him, and predictably ends up losing afterwards.
** He also severely underestimates how powerful his son/clone, Geed, can become as he initially regards him as little more than a battery and even when Belial grows a twisted form of respect for the young Ultra he still regards him as an inferior clone of his. Unsurprisingly, it's Geed who ensures Belial dies for good.
* TheUnfettered: To Belial nothing is excessive in the pursuit of his vengeance, no matter how petty or destructive the action is. He's slaughtered countless lifeforms, destroyed entire planets and caused massive suffering across the Multiverse without ever stopping even once to consider a limit to his actions.
* UngratefulBastard: When he's freed from his prison by an Alien Zarab that is nice enough to even give him back his Giga Battle Nizer and only asks that [[WeCanRuleTogether they]] form a partnership to take over the Universe as a team, his only response is to immediately kill said Zarab and then declare that only [[ICanRuleAlone he]] will take over.
* VillainBall: In ''Revenge of Belial'' he has a depowered Zero/Run at his mercy and even stole his Ultra Zero Eye and holds it in front of him while laughing at his helplessness while he sends his troops to attack the Land of Light. This gives Nao, Esmerana and Jean-Bot time to reach his base, free Zero/Run and allow the hero to recover his strength and transform.
* VillainForgotToLevelGrind: Always inverted as while his foes get stronger every time they face him again, so he has. This even becomes a plot point in ''Series/UltramanGeed.''
** In ''Ultra Galaxy Legends'' he was subjected to a CurbStompBattle from Zero, in ''Revenge of Belial'' he's gotten strong enough to deflect and witstand all that Zero throws at him and manages to overwhelm his nemesis in return.
** In ''Ultra Zero Fight'' he is prepared for Zero's Ultimate Aegis armor by employing the very powerful [[Characters/UltramanMebius Darkness Armor]] to match his foe for most of their fight.
** In ''Ultraman Geed'' he straight-up defeats Zero before the series even began, who at this point had gotten even stronger than he was in all his past appearances. When Zero returns later on, it's often Belial who keeps the upper hand and it takes until the final episode for Zero to finally fight Belial on mostly even terms and Belial still winds up the winner afterwards. Zero losing most of the time prompts his superior son, Geed, to finally end the streak.
* VillainousBreakdown: Often goes through these when his plans are thwarted or when things don't go as he planned them out to be:
** In ''Ultra Galaxy Legends'' he ends up straight-up furious after Ultraman Zero decimates his 100 Monster Army and takes on the young Ultra Warrior all by himself to try and take revenge, he then grows madder after Zero defeats him resorting to forcefully fusing himself with the sprits in the Monster Graveyard so as to defeat the Ultra Warriors and screams in anger before Zero and the others defeat him for real.
** In ''Revenge of Belial'' he starts out fairly calm, up to and including his [[OneWingedAngel transformation]] into the monstrous Arch Belial at least until Zero is rescued from his grasp and certain death, at which that point he opts to just blow up Planet Esmeralda so as to spite the Ultimate Force Zero and ends up screaming Zero's name in pure hatred as Ultimate Zero obliterates him.
** In ''Ultraman Geed'' he suffers his biggest one, as he loses his composture the moment Geed starts to overwhelm him, growing desperate to claim he's not being overwhelmed right before Geed's 5 finishers destroy his Giga Battle Nizer and revert him from his Atrocious form into his base form. When Geed tries to reason with him while fighting him in the mindscape, Belial can only scream in anger that Geed does not understand his pain and sorrow before crying out his son's name as he is killed for good by Geed's Wrecking Burst.
* VillainousLegacy:
** Ultraman Tregear is an unintentional example, as in ''Series/UltramanTaiga'', he was originally an Ultra from the Land of Light, but Belial and Hikari's turn to the darkness caused Tregear to be disillusioned with the Land of Light's so-called image as the protector of light and inspired him to become evil once he abandoned his Ultraman identity.
** In spite of his final death, his legacy lives on in the Devil's Splinters, a malevolent virus that infects Kaiju across the Multiverse, making them go berserk and start rampaging without a purpose. Likewise, other villains end up using them to deliberately make powerful bio-weapons such as [[Series/UltramanTaiga Alien Chibull Mabuze]] and [[Series/UltramanZ Celebro]].
** Furthermore even minor villains get to use his legacy as the Beliarok (a sword made out of parts of his essence) winds up under the use of an Alien Barossa and even Juggler (who's a minor anti-villain/anti-hero in ''Series/UltramanZ'') plots to use it for unknown purposes.
* VillainOverride: He's inflicted this a couple of times in ''Ultra Zero Fight'' first doing it to the Darkness Armor, overriding its personality with his own, then when Zero defeats him in that form, he moves on to doing this to Zero himself, taking over his body and supressing Zero's mind trapping him inside his own body.
* TheVirus: Belial's Reionics energy can corrupt other living beings if they enter in contact with it. He can either use his claws to forcefully infect others or his scattered body parts lost in battles can be used for the same purpose.
* WeCanRuleTogether: Seems to genuinely offer this to Geed, to the point of letting ''him'' control his body as Chimeraberus while beating up Zero after corrupting Geed.
* WouldHurtAChild:
** In ''Ultra Galaxy Legends'' he leaves the Land of Light's inhabitants, children such as Ultraman Kid included, to freeze to death slowly and painfully.
** ''Revenge of Belial'' sees him decimating entire worlds and having no issue with killing or sending his minions to kill the young Nao.
** He gives his own son/clone Geed a NoHoldsBarredBeatdown upon their first meeting and doesn't bat an eye when Kei threatens to hurt Mayu.
* WreckedWeapon: His Giga Battle Nizer was destroyed offscreen after his defeat in ''Ultra Galaxy Legends'', got reforged by Reibatos and is ultimately destroyed for good when Geed with the power of Ultraman King launches all his finishers at once at it.
* XanatosGambit: In ''Geed'' Belial's original master plan was to set off a gigantic bomb that would either remove King from the picture, or destroy all creation in the ultimate murder-suicide. It worked for the first plan and Belial was able to take King out and start his second scheme, which was to drain King's scattered power to turn himself into a God and take out King for good in the process.
* XanatosSpeedChess: Belial keeps changing his plans in ''Geed'' to suit what he needs. His original plan to blow up the universe failed? He starts a new one involving his son. His son is too powerful to outright consume? Belial chooses to hypnotize and convert Geed into a second dark Ultra. Geed is put beyond his reach? Belial devours Kei's Strum organ instead.
* YouCantGoHomeAgain: After his banishment from the Land of Light, he can never go back to it. He tends to act like he doesn't cares anymore, but it's heavily implied that deep down he does long for his home but is too prideful to admit it.
* YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness: Gives this treatment to Kei after ripping out his Sturm Organ, which leaves Kei to die slowly and painfully.

-----
* BeamSpam: The individual kaijus composing its body can fire EyeBeams, which Belial can command to fire all at once.
* BodyHorror: It's components seem to be in pain and some like Bemstar are mutilated. That's without getting into how it's skin has pulsating external black vein-like tendrils.
* BodyOfBodies: It's made up of whole bodies of kaiju forcefully meshed together into a single entity.
* CurbStompBattle: It's fight against the Ultras and their allies goes this way in its favor, none of them land anything close to a meaningful hit and it easily overpowers them all in return.
* EvilIsBigger: One of the biggest foes the Ultras have ever faced, only dwarfed by the likes of [[Series/ReturnOfUltraman Vacuumon]].
* EldritchAbomination: Borders on this, being a monstrous [[BodyOfBodies combination of whole kaiju bodies]] with each part capable of acting independently and with a rather unnatural body form.
* FinalBoss: Of ''Ultra Galaxy Legends'', being Belial's last-resort measure at fighting the Ultras.
* FusionDance: Between Belial and hundreds of spirits in the Monster Graveyard.
* HybridMonster: One of the most extreme examples in the franchise, as Belyudra is composed of countless kaiju from the franchise's long history. '''226''' kaijus are visible on its body surface alone, including scrapped kaiju like [[Series/UltraQ Clapton]] and [[Series/{{Ultraman}} Bemular, the original concept that would become Ultraman]].

* OneWingedAngel: A monstrous form Belial takes in order to defeat the Ultras once he's beaten by Zero.
* RasputinianDeath: It takes Rei destabilizing it with his Battle Nizer, Leo, Astra, Mebius, Dyna and Ultraman firing their finishers all at once, EX Gomora's Full Power Super Oscillatory Wave, the Pendragon's Pedanium Launcher Shot and a Plasma Spark-boosted Ultraman Zero attacking Belial directly to put this thing down...

An alternate version of Belial that was recruited by [[Series/UltraGalaxyFightTheAbsoluteConspiracy Absolute Tartarus]] after the Absolutian changed the past so Belial never got exiled and instead willingly left the Land of Light. Along with a Parallel Isotope [[Characters/UltraSeriesUltramanTregear Ultraman Tregear]], he serves as one of Tartarus' strongest minions and enforcers, though only for his own benefit.
----
* AlternateSelf: To the original Belial, diverting from events that happened in the main timeline thanks to Tartarus' machinations.
* CastingGag: The English version of ''The Absolute Conspiracy'' has young Belial voiced by Jack Merluzzi, who voiced Zero in the previous installment, ''Series/UltraGalaxyFightNewGenerationHeroes''. At first glance it seems to be an ironic casting choice, however, this is the younger Belial were talking about, who's as brash and hotheaded as Zero was.
* CoDragons: Alongside Parallel Isotope Tregear he serves as this to Absolute Tartarus.
* DealWithTheDevil: This time with Absolute Tartarus instead of Reiblood and completely consentual unlike Reiblood's forceful merge that Belial later came to enjoy.
* DontYouDarePityMe: After a sparring session that goes out of hand, Ken offers Belial a hand up. Belial swats it aside and angrily leaves without a word.
* TheExile: Though unlike the original Belial, his own exile was self-imposed after touching the Plasma Spark thanks to Tartarus' interference.
* {{Foil}}: To his partner, Parallel Isotope Tregear, both were once friends with a prodigy red tribe Ultra but fell to darkness as a result of jealously and their friendships drifting apart and in here they both join Tartarus to avoid their main timeline fates. However, while Tregear joins Tartarus out of fear of eventually turning against Taro, Belial joins Tartarus for his own sake and selfish search for power.
* GoMadFromTheRevelation: Finding out that his crusade for power in the main timeline ultimately results in his death drives him to laugh madly in despair before he joins Tartarus' crusade out of a feeling that there's nothing else left for him.
* InSpiteOfANail: Tartarus' interference changes the context of his downfall into evil, but the same thing that happened in the main timeline happens here as Belial becomes evil and is granted power by an evil entity after leaving the Land of Light.
* ItsAllAboutMe: He only took up on Tartarus' offer in order to become stronger in way that won't end in his death.
* IHaveNoSon: How he views Geed. To be fair, he's an AlternateSelf to the Original Belial.
* KarmaHoudini: Like his employer and surviving teammates, Belial gets away from ''Absolute Conspiracy'' without suffering any consequences for his involvement in Tartarus' plot.
* LaughingMad: When he sees his future courtesy of Tartarus he ends up laughing maniatically before accepting the Absolutian's offer.
* LightIsNotGood: Unlike his main counterpart, he never tainted his body with darkness... And he's still evil as ever.
* MakeWrongWhatOnceWentRight: Absolute Tartarus offers the younger Belial the chance to "change his fate" after showing him visions of his future defeats.
* TookALevelInKindness: {{Downplayed}} but Belial here has no issue with working alongside Tregear, a stark contrast to his utter refusal to work with equals to him and even has something of a VillainousFriendship with his fellow evil Ultra. [[spoiler: Before leaving the Absolutions to find power on his own, he gives Tregear his Tregear Eye, in a rare gesture of goodwill.]]
* VillainousFriendship: Unlike the main timeline Belial, this one seems to get along just fine with other villains. Including his employer, Tartarus and comrade, Parallel Isotope Tregear.

----
* BigEater: In Chapter 1 Belial chows down on a whole bag of bread once Camearra forces him to eat. In Chapter 2 he is seen eating a whole basket of bread.
* TheComicallySerious: Belial ends up having an unintentional moment of comedy when he refuses to be fed bread by Camearra when he ends up exhausted over using his giant form, even ''dodging'' the loaves that Camearra tries to shove in his mouth after he refuses to eat them willingly.
* DePower: Per Camearra's words, Belial is said to have been stripped of most of his powers, now only being able to remain in his giant form for 3 minutes and otherwise being forced to take a human form lest he dies from the strain.
* EvilVsEvil: He is still quite the nasty asshole and actively tries to kill Lili for her "light", but does end up protecting Lili from other threats in the manga though not out of altruism but simply because said threats get in his way.
* IDoNotLikeGreenEggsAndHam: Belial refuses to eat the bread Camearra gives him up until he's force-fed a loaf, after which he empties her whole bread bag enthusiastically. Chapter 2 shows him eating a whole basket as well.
* MrFanservice: In ''Darkness Heels - Lili'' Belial is depicted this way, having a rather handsome appearance and a well-defined muscular body in addition to always being shirtless.
* {{Tsundere}}: To Lili, who he repeatedly claims he only wants to kill for her light, yet as the manga progresses he begins to show that he might've fallen in love with her, but can't quite process those feelings.
* WalkingShirtlessScene: He only wears a cape, pants and shoes. He hasn't been seen yet with a shirt or anything alike.

[[foldercontrol]]

* BadGuysDoTheDirtyWork:
* BigBad: Of ''Film/MegaMonsterBattleUltraGalaxyLegends'', ''Film/UltramanZeroTheRevengeOfBelial'', ''Series/UltraZeroFight'' and ''Series/UltramanGeed''.
* DeathByIrony:
* DefeatEqualsExplosion:

[[folder:E-H]]
* EarthShatteringKaboom:
* GreaterScopeVillain: A few times.
* HostileShowTakeover:
->''"That won't work on me."''
* OhCrap:
* VillainousLegacy:
* WouldHurtAChild:

[[caption-width-right:350:''"A monster made of monsters?!"'']]
A form Belial obtains after fusing with the spirits of the Monster Graveyard following his defeat at Ultraman Zero's hands. It's a massive powerful monster that gives all of the Ultras a hard time, Belial serves as the brains of the beast.
-----
* BeamSpam: The individual kaijus composing its body can fire EyeBeams, which Belial can command to fire all at once.
* TheJuggernaut: It shrugs off everything thrown at it and proves quite unstoppable before Rei destabilizes it.
* LeaderFormsTheHead: Belial forms the brain part of this monstrosity.
* NoSell: It takes every attack thrown at it and shows no signs of damage or even being tickled. It takes it being destabilized for any attacks to actually harm it.

[[caption-width-right:250:]]
The result of Ultraman Belial's spirit possessing Zero's body against the latter's will. He is a powerful and evil entity and a fearsome foe.
----
* BewareTheSuperman: Zero Darkness shows everyone just how terrifying Zero would be if he turned evil or if he had stayed on his original path of seeking power at all costs.
* CessationOfExistence: He only existed when Belial had control of Zero's body and promptly went away once Zero purged Belial's spirit, though copies of him have been made in later instalments by various villains.
* DemonicPossession: He is the result of Belial taking over Zero's body for himself.
* PaletteSwap: Is essentially a recolored Ultraman Zero, with Belial's color scheme instead of his original one.

[[caption-width-right:250:Belial in his uncorrupted form, Early Style.]]

[[folder:Darkness Heels Belial]]
A version of Ultraman Belial that has reincarnated as a human, he finds himself involved in various situations now as a "Dark Hero" joining a team composed of himself, Camearra, Evil Tiga, Dark Zagi and Jugglus Juggler to combat multiple other threats.
----
!!In General
* AlternateSelf: Two in fact, there's the one from the stage shows and the one from the manga. Both being counterparts to the main universe Belial.
* AntiHero: Belial becomes this in this project in general, he isn't happy about it however.
* BackFromTheDead: A shared plot point in all versions of the project is that Belial has been resurrected following his final death in ''Geed'' alongside other Dark Ultras but in human form.
* HumanityEnsues: After being resurrected he is turned into a human.
* PowerFist: In exchange for losing his natural claws in his human form, Belial is armed in both versions with clawed gauntlets that help him in a fight.

----
* OlderThanTheyLook: Belial is played here by the youthful Kentaro Menjo, in spite of Belial himself being old by both human AND Ultraman standards.

[[caption-width-right:250:Belial as depicted in ''DARKNESS HEELS - Lili -'']]
The [[Manga/DarknessHeelsLili manga]] version of Belial, who is the first evil Ultra encountered by Lili and becomes a major character throughout the story.
----
* BigEater: In Chapter 1 Belial chows down on a whole bag of bread once Camearra forces him to eat.

* KickTheSonOfABitch: Killing a near-dead person that was trying to help resurrect him would be utterly petty even for him, but his victim, Reibatos, wasn't exactly a good guy to begin with as he planned to control the 100 Monster Army to conquer the universe for himself and only tried resurrecting Belial as a last resort to screw the Ultras over so rather than a full-blown KickTheDog, his killing of the Reionics warrior turns into this.
** In Geed he does this twice, killing an alien that was trying to murder his son Geed, and later he betrays Kei Fukuide and leaves him to die. Kei had just stabbed Belial's current host in the gut while Belial was still merged with her, so Kei brought it on himself.
